Wait!!! Wasn't this supposed to be a weekend trip? TR COMPLETE 11/2 - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am sorry your Wishes didn't work out as planned. It looks like Angel had good attention from the Chef! And a good birthday overall. In case I missed it... Happy Birthday, Angel!!
I'm sorry Jasmine wasn't feeling well. You can see it in the pictures. While I do love her "Mona Lisa" face, I do think she has a beautiful smile!
What's a little rain at WDW... just buy another Mickey Poncho and go on!!!

I thought it was hysterical that you suggested to your sister that you should walk to CR for dinner after she thought the walk to Epcot from BW was long!
Sorry your night for Angel's birthday didn't work out as you planned, but again, it looks like you didn't let it get you down!

Aw man, what a day. I'm so sorry about Wishes, I know how you feel when things just don't work out the way you had planned, but I'm glad you all seem to bounce with it and did get to see the parade. I'm not a line waiter at all......I don't know what I'll do when the day comes and my kids realize.....the ride is not really broken for the day. I have some time, maybe
So has your headache issues now jumped over to Jasmine? I hope you are both feeling better for the next day.
I'm glad Angel got a great meal on her B-day with some great friends too.
Sorry your evening was a little rocky and Angel didn't get to see Wishes. But at least she did have fun after that awful standby wait. And I'm really, really sorry, but your DS and DN singing show tunes on the Peoplemover cracked me up. Especially the fact that DS was off key!

You are SO good at going with the flow, but I am sorry that your Wishes viewing with Angel was messed up! That just means that you'll have to plan it again for next year!
Sorry Jasmine wasn't feeling well. I hope she's better in the morning. Apart from that, what a great night!
It really was a great evening, I felt bad for Jasmine though as she really did not want to leave early but I really thought a early night for her was what she needed.

What an awesome birthday dinner for Angel....she looks like she had a ball....she has such a beautiful smile.
I am sorry that Wishes didn't quite work as planned....but maybe that was why you and Angel enjoyed illuminations in the rain earlier....
Hope everyone sleeps well and wakes up refreshed!
Danielle
That's what I kept thinking, how Angel and I had our special moment at Illuminations. As long as she had fun on her birthday that was all that mattered.

After looking back at the pictures from that day, it was evident that Jasmine was not feeling well. She tried so hard to put that smile on it just wasn't working this day at all

We always have had great fun at CM and those cupcakes, made the night, they were so delicious and Angel was in chocolate heaven

I kind of knew my sister's reaction beforehand...but it was too funny to watch her face when I suggested it

My kids for the most part don't like lines either, Angel she is easier as as long as she knows she is going to have fun she will wait (even though she much rather a walk on). Jasmine...she is totally my child. The funniest thing was listening to her whispering comments to me as we waited...

Trust me Sharon...hearing my sister singing show tunes cracked me up as well...but when my nephew starting singing Katy Perry if Icould have climbed off the ride I would have. The funny thing was Angel telling him...but that is a girl song

I was upset about Wishes, then I let it go as I knew Angel was having fun. When she told me about their long stroll to SpMt I got a bit upset again...but it was not worth getting upset over. In the end Angel fell asleep with a big smile on her face and that was all I wanted.

Sorry for the delay - I have been really lax with finishing this, been working a lot of OT (which I won't complain about as it means more money in the vacation fund) but every night on come on, read a few posts and then I am exhausted. So I apologize for the lull....but I am destined to finish up the TR by the end of the week.
Day 8 August 4 - Part I
The plan was RD at AK - my sister said she was destined to make it there on time. In our neck of the woods Angel was up, showered and ready by 7:30 yes some one was ready for her ride on EE. Unfortunetly, Jasmine was not...
Her headache was worse, even with some medication around 5 am she felt terrible. She got up and showered and then finally said to me that she just could not do it. She was just in too much pain. I hated to leave her, especially as I knew how upset she was as she loves AK but she pushed us out the door, promised to take another dose of pain medication at 9 and went back to sleep .
Angel did not want to go but Jasmine assured her that she wanted her to go have fun and that when she got back hopefully she would be feeling ten times better and that they would hit the pool so Angel was a bit sad all the way on the bus.
Finally I told her that Jasmine would not want her to be sad and that she had a lot of animals to take pictures of so her sister would not miss out on everything so she put on a smile and we walked in the park at 9 am.
We stopped for some pictures
Once we took our early morning photos we headed straight to Asia for a visit with a Yeti...stopping along the way so that mommy could take some pictures.
Angel had kept telling me that it was ok if I did not want to ride it, she knew that my neck had been really bothering me ever since ToT, but I did not want her to ride it alone first thing so I told her I was fine and we headed into the 5 minute line. We actually got a chance to take some pictures of the queue this time.
Soon we were on the ride and I have to say...I was ok. We were closer to the front so the backwards section which is usually where I feel it normally (and where I was really worried about it now) really did not phase me...or at least the first time. I was so confident that we went right back on the ride but this time we were closer to the back, and not sure exactly what it is but I felt it this time.
I tried to put on a smile so that Angel would know I was ok, but I guess I did not do such a good job as she said "mom, that was your last ride, I am fine going on the SRL". I hated to do that to her but she marched right up the SRL and off she went on her third ride...
On the sister being there first thing well time was passing and I still had not heard from her. I went into the gift shop and took some photos while I waited for Angel.
Soon Angel was coming off the ride smiling and with her a nice older British gentleman who had to come to tell me that Angel was a big help to him. Seems this was his first ride on EE and he was a bit nervous, but Angel talked to him all the way up the hill and the screamed together coming down. I was very glad that Angel could be of some assistance .
Angel made her way back to the SRL and I finally got a text from my sister, seemed they slept in and were on the bus. I told her where we were and she said she would meet us there. Angel made her way off again, and I told her that Trent and Shannon would be here in a few so she should wait for them before heading on again. She was nice enough to pose for a picture while waiting.
We decided to grab some water, it was getting hot and finally around 10:30 here came my sister and Trent FINALLY!!!
Now the line was long, about 30 minutes but my nephew nor my sister had ever ridden this so the SRL was out of the question so I told my sister to head on with the kids and I was going to get us a FP for KRR for later. They headed in and I headed on my walk towards the rapids. The line was already at 45 minutes, guess everyone wanted to get wet. I treated myself to a Mickey Bar as I walked back. I wandered around the area for a bit then finally decided to head into the gift shop as the heat was getting opressive.
They made their way off the ride and Angel decided to try a new hairstyle
before heading over to the SRL, my sister enjoyed it but one ride was enough and my nephew....LOVED IT and could not wait to go on again even if it meant riding alone as the line was 40 minutes now and no one was waiting. They ended up going on the SRL line three more times and then I told them it was time to move on.
Angel took a photo to remember her EE marathon, 8 rides not to shabby, I am sure she would have made Princess Sharon very proud.
We made our way out of the EE area and stopped to take a few PP pcitures.
Now I should have thought this out better but we decided to grab a FP for the safari before heading onto KRR so while I walked ahead (I just cannot walk slow when I am trying to get somewhere) my sister took a slow walk behind me. I made it to Africa, grabbed the FPs for the safari and made my way back in time to catch up with some characters and find my sister who was still making her way towards Africa
I was hoping to see Devine as we missed her last trip but we did not get to see her this time either
We headed back towards KRR and walked through the FP line and soon we were on our raft. It was a great ride as usual, but unfortunetly we did not get as wet as we would have liked. Our raft mates though lucked out....they were drenched.
Now here is where I re-thought my game plan....I should have grabbed another KRR FP instead of the safari when I had the chance. The FP return time was well passed when we were planning to be there and the standby line...100 minutes so we were not going to get another chance to get wet
We headed through the trails in Asia, even the animals were in hiding from the heat.
But we wandered through at a leisurely pace and took some pictures of the theming.
My sister was hungry and the mention of food had everyone's mouth watering so we headed over to FTB. Angel and I shared the chicken and had it with fries. My nephew had a hotdog, and my sister had the trukey sandwich which she really enjoyed. My sister had tried to convince my nephew to eat something other than a hotdog but to no avail, but then he tried my chicken and said "wow this is really good I should have gotten the chicken"
We headed back over to Afica and to out awaiting two week safari. We headed straight through the FP line but we would have been fine without it as the standby was 10 minutes.... it just confirmed my thought that I should have grabbed another KRR FP instead as another ride would have felt so good right now. The heat was unbearable today. Jasmine was right in staying back, this heat would have only made her headache worse.
It was a great safari even though many of the animals were hiding out in the shade, but there were a few stragglers that were out anyway but they were all staying close to the water.
The elephants were having a great time cooling off.
Our safari got cut short and we made our way back to Harambe. By the time we made it off my sister and nephew were done. They were hot and wanted to head back to the resort. I wanted to stop and see Lily but they said they were leaving. Angel said it was ok to walk though but she was hot...I could see it in her face so I told her it was ok that I rather head back to see how Jasmine was feeling so we headed out.
But there was one thing I wanted before we headed out of the park...a frozen Coke and we stopped to get one before heading out. Now originally my sister and nephew were going to come back to the Boardwalk and hang out and have dinner with us but they wanted to explore their resort so we said out goodbyes at the bus stop as I was unsure if we would see each other tomorrow and I was not sure what the girls wanted to do, and my sister and nephew were scheduled to head to DHS.
The bus came quickly and we were back at the resort and heading to check on Jasmine. I saw the best thing in the world when I returned...she was smiling and ready to hit the pool, so the girls jumped in their suits and headed downstairs and I told them I would meet them there shortly.
Wow...Angel is quite the adrenaline junkie....Izzy says she can handle it and wants an EE and ToT marathon with Angel!
I am so sorry Jasmine was sidelined with a bad headache but glad it subsided and she was ready to swim in the afternoon.
Danielle
