Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

It wouldn't be a Disney trip if plans didn't get changed around!

Not sure how I missed this but yes APs are addictive! The first year we had ours I went down 4 times in one year. I think I OD'd my poor DH though so now I try to keep the trips to one or two per year... well except this year. I had booked our airfare for last October via SW and their prices dropped so I had a credit of over $400 that had to be used before June so we got the APs and booked three trips in the one year

We will be there in October as well. We LOVE the F&WF also. We went last year with our then 19 month old and found the crowds at night to be a bit much because of excessive drinking but since the world showcase opens at 11am we went over for lunch a few different days and it was very quiet at lunch time. Perhaps if it's similar this year you can enjoy earlier days in Epcot and hop to the MK at night!

I can't wait to hear more!

Anyway See above about why I'm not sure about doing it at DTD. Then again, it may be too much to do MK that day, the crowd levels for that day are all 5 and above for the various parks.
just caught your response, didn't know about the price increase not being affected if you used one day. oops.

With Fantasmic running every night now, I think I might drop the Fantasmic pkg. However, it would allow me a better viewing spot without waiting forever and hopefully it will be less crowded which equals an easier exit from the theatre. I might still book out of there before the finale if the crowd is too much for me. The one and only time I experienced Fantasmic, the exit had me nearly crying.

That's a really good point, I guess I should stop trying to get the changes to stop and just go with them.

Thank you for heads up on the excessive drinking! That could become a problem. Thank goodness you can park hop with APs!!

The reserved seating for the Fantasmic dinner package is not great. WDW Today podcasts constant diss the view you get from that seating. And it doesn't make exiting any easier.

So, I'm behind

We have a new VP at work. My boss's boss's boss... And it's a good thing, he's got some great ideas and good things are going to happen. I've been "selected" to be on this committee to review our work intake process and to streamline it and formalize it. And this man works FAST!! We folks were volunteered late Tues. Tuesday at 4:50pm, an invite comes out for a 8am Wed meeting. Then we met again at noon, and then again at 3:30! And we met today and have two more meetings tomorrow. He wants this thing vetted, streamlined and done It's a good thing, and I'm not just saying that because I want to believe in it. It really is a good thing. It's something that we've been hoping would happen for years.

Anyway....

So two weeks from yesterday

Well, we were going to go to Animal Kingdom on Wednesday. But I've captured my convoluted logic above if you wish to re-read

Instead, we'll be doing breakfast at Crystal Palace - BEFORE THE PARK OPENS!!!! - with all the breakfasts I have scheduled between this trip and last trip, I hadn't made one for a place in the park before it opens.

So I think the day will be similar to Tuesday - split time between MK and DHS. A quick check at touringplans.com shows that Tuesday will be the last day that we'll want to spend any significant amount of time in the park due to crowds.

Wednesday night is Boma though Stitch is treating me (via the dinning plan! ) to dinner at Boma. And thanks to Timothy Mouse, I know that there is fireside storytelling at 7:30 in the lobby, so dinner is for 5pm And afterward, I know that you can use night vision goggles to look into the savanna. Squee. So we will get some Animal Kingdom flavor in our trip

Boma is our dress up dinner. Stitch recently got a dress for her cousin's wedding - her first dress in four years. And I want her to wear it more than once! So, she planned out this dinner. I'm liking her planning!!!

ok, so two weeks from today, what will I be doing? (I'm trying to post daily about what I'll be doing to make these last few days go faster and to get through the "fun" at work.)

Anyway, so it will be Thursday.

Breakfast will be at 1900, a little later than our "crack of dawn" times from the last two days.

The day will be spent at Epcot, mostly in Future World since we skipped the whole thing (except Imagination) last time. Especially after seeing "Finding Nemo" I can't wait to see Crush! Duuuude!!!

For the afternoon, Stitch has penciled in the tea at Grand Floridian. We'll see if we have energy. I have a feeling that our commando touring from the first couple of days will be catching up with us.

No dinner plans, so I suspect we'll be in the pool as the sunsets.

Ah.... much better than worrying about a hurricane!!!

Your plans for a second trip are fabulous!!! I love your "two weeks from today" updates also. Too bad you can't fit in another trip at Thanksgiving. LOL Then Little Dude and Merlin can get together and discuss the life of SDs.

I'm glad you're liking the "two weeks from today" - it's really giving me something to look forward to rather than constantly checking the count down ticker on my iPhone.

I so wish they could meet up, that would be so cool!!! Service dogs in general aren't that common and psych dogs are even less common so it would be wonder to swap stories, tips and tricks.

Every year we host Thanksgiving for our group here in NJ, about 30 people or so, the Saturday after Thanksgiving usually. So we're already pre-booked with plans.

Must feel nice to have a new VP with a bunch of fresh ideas that he wants put in motion right away.

Hope you don't get completely washed away this weekend, batten down the hatches and be safe.

Dinner in a dress, you know you're on vacation then! Can't believe you only have two weeks to go! I'm so jelly!!!
