As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I never noticed how the border fit with her shirt but now that I looked it definitely does!
I was literally LOL reading about EE being not much different than BTM!!!!! We love BTM and we did go on EE but I'm not usually a wimp and I remember saying "Glad I did it, never again, LOL!" I can't even remember why but I remember being scared out of my mind from something! I'm sure I will do it again someday because I have a terrible memory, haha
Sounds like a great day so far! I'm glad Lenny agreed to ride BTMRR and that he enjoyed it. How cute is Abby telling him that she'll hold his hand? I love the photo of Lenny after the ride -- you can see that he really enjoyed it.
I can't wait to see the new ending at HM! It is DH's favorite ride, but I haven't told him anything about the refurb (I've told him about the changes to the queue, but not the hitchhiking ghosts), so it will be fun to see his reaction.
You definitely got some great flash-free photos at CBJ. Good work!

What!? You mean EE isn't like BTM? I have to admit I did tell Lenny if you forget the backwards part and the "drop" is it kinda like BTM . At least I think so - but I sometimes have an odd way of looking at things

Me too Laurie - it wouldn't have been too good if he didn't - I'm sure Abby and I wouldn't have heard the end of if for the rest of the day. And I think that's what gave him the "courage" to go through with it - Abby telling him he'd be okay and that she'd hold his hand. She even rode with him and not me (which is fine becasue then I can brace myself from sliding around on the seat much better). The changes to the ride were fun - we enjoyed them. We didn't see the interactive part of the line though (and I have to admit I didn't miss them either )

Thanks - it was a great day - including Lenny going on BTM and Abby just being Abby. She has her faults but she can be very astute when people are nervous, etc. And yes, Lenny did enjoy it. I know we didn't go back on but for some reason I thought he said he would that day. Definitely don't tell your hubby about the ghosts - if it's his favortie ride, then it'll be priceless to see his reaction. And thanks, I'm glad you like the CBJ photos.
Thanks - we're all glad too. Now it's another ride we can all go on together.

Thanks Karen. And believe it or not, I don't have a fancy camera. I have a Canon Powershot A560 that's a couple of years old and for the most part, it's a point and shoot. I rarely change the settings and when I do, it's normally from one mode to another (kids & pets, auto, landscape, etc). And unless I'm playing with it, I definitely don't touch things like exposure and white balance and all those features that I have no idea what they're for or even do (and even reading the manuel, I'm still not sure what the purpose of them are )
Darlene, I have an old olympus that is somewhat "crash" proof. It has a "drop factor" of 5 feet (You can drop it and it won't break according to Olympus). Since I drop stuff ALL THE TIME, I asked for that one for XMas about 6 years ago. It works ok, but not a great zoom and the over rides are not good. My DD has a Canon PowerShot from a couple years back and it is AWESOME! DS #1 has a Nikon D40 that he won't let me play with I think I want something in between the SLR and the little point and shoot, but I can't decide! I'm a Nikon fan for the most part which is what I'll get if I go the SLR route, but if I go point and shoot it will definitely be Canon!
Just like everyone else has said, the new sig picture is great. Everyone looks happy and it's kind of cute that the girls are wearing pink and the only guy is wearing blue. I'm a little late on reading the last few updates, so a few comments going back several days:
I'm with you on motion rides, I can't do Mission Space or Tower of Terror. I sometimes have issues with motion simulators, but I've always had issues with 3D. I'll try Star Tours once, but I'm a bit nervous about the combination of the two things. I haven't done Soarin' yet because I figured it would give me issues. Maybe I'll be brave and try this time.
I'm tossing between keeping my Garden Grill reservation and switching to Garden Grove instead. After reading your thoughts on it, it sounds like it might be worth it to keep it at Garden Grill. Hmmm...
I love Abby being brave and offering to hold Lenny's hand. That's how we get Joc to try out new rides. She knows I'm nervous about some that she can ride (ToT for instance), so if it's a new ride I ask her to hold my hand to help me be brave. She forgets to be scared because she's helping me not be!
