As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dinner at GG sounds like a lot of fun. The pictures were really cute.
Your day at MK sounds like a great way to spend your last full day. And how cool that you had a PP meet at CP! Glad you were able to meet both Tiana and Rapunzel!!
The pictures of Abby and Piglet are priceless!! Like you, I am always frustrated by the line at CP. If I see a break in the line, I'll absolutely do the same thing you did!
Sounds like a fun day at MK! Glad you got to see the 2 new princesses (we've yet to meet either of them). And pretty cool that the Photopass photographer spent some time talking with Abby too!
It's so much easier to reply when I'm not catching p with 24 pages at once
Love the pictures from CP, I agree on the lines though, It's so strange. I wonder if it's the way it's arranged perhaps that confuses people. Other buffets (like 1900 Park fare, etc) have different areas, etc? I dunno *shrug* We've decided to avoid buffets for a while ourselves because they never go well with our 2 yr old.
I love how you randomly run into other PPers throughout your trips! I need to keep my eyes posted for others next time
Thank you for the info about the lap bars on Splash mountain too. Being pooh-sized myself I am not always comfortable with all the lap bars. I will say though, I'm such a wimp with that big drop, I super excited about the lap bars on Splash.
Can't wait to hear what happens on the train!!!
I know what you're saying on catching up. As for CP - I really don't know what the deal is because I don't find it any different than any other buffet meal. As for running into PPer's - if they didn't speak up, I'd walk right by them. At Disney, I could walk by my own mother and not notice her because I'm always looking at something else. I'm glad that my info on the lap bars on Splash Mountain is useful for you. I was hoping it would help someone out. As for what happens, you'll have to come back tomorrow as that's when I'll try to post more.

Thanks Kathy - dinner was fun and our day at MK really was fun. My sour mood from earlier did dissipate so I was able to have a good day. And meeting a PPer, Tiana and Rapunzel all in one day really did add to it.

Your cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat...
Thanks you - and it's only at CP. I've never encountered lines like that at any other character meal. If I did, we'd probably them. We did have a good day at the MK and I thought it was really sweet of the Photopass Photographer to give Abby some attention. I'm not saying other ones aren't nice but to me, she was very natural in coming over and talking with Abby - you KWIM?. It wasn't like she came over to talk just because she was bored, she came over to talk because she wanted to.

Glad you had a great meal at GG and a great day at Epcot!
How nice to meet a fellow PP at Crystal Palace! Your day at MK sounds fun so far!
Thanks Jodi. It was a good meal and our day at Epcot was good (but it could have been better for me). And I love when I meet fellow PPer's in the parks - it puts a face to a name. I know many of us have signature pictures but it's not the same thing as meeting in real life. MK was fun

Thanks. We did have a great day and I'm glad you enjoy my TR's. I try to make them that way - so you feel like you're there - because for me, if I'm having a down day or something, I can come and read my TR and feel like I'm back in Disney again. And it makes me happy that others get that feeling too (especially if we're having a really good day instead of our mini golf time )

Even hearing about your mini golf time helps some of us because we all have rough days even on vacation so it's nice to know it's not just us sometimes.
I love cliffhangers but I'm not very patient... I'll be watching tomorrow!

Thank you for that - and ITA, it is nice to know that we're not the only ones who have rough patches on vacation. I promise I'll post tomorrow. I just don't guarantee when (although I will try for the morning.)
First, I love your picture in front of HDDR. It is really a great family picture, and I love the cute pictures of Abby with Piglet too! So smart to break up and stand in the lines for the two different charachters. My hubby wanted his picture taken with Rapunzel too. LOL...I think we had the same Rapunzel as you as she looks the same (BTW, we had a LONG wait to see her too probably about an hour). I had no clue that they even installed lap bars for SM, and the sad thing is that my memory is so bad that when we go on it again, I probably would not have realized they were not there before. LOL...sad, but true. I'm glad your day is turning out to be a great one, but sad that your trip is winding down.

Thanks - I couldn't resist telling Piglet Abby was being shy and that's when they both really "hammed" it up for the pictures

Thanks - I just changed my siggy picture a little while ago. It's the one Abby liked the best too - I couldn't choose . Like I said for Tiana and Rapunzel, we can't really take the credit for it - Jody planted the idea in our heads and it was still a long wait for us. Abby and I waited about 20 minutes or so for Tiana while Lenny waited for Rapunzel and when we met up again, we still had about another half an hour to wait so yeah, in all Lenny waited about an hour in that line. There was quite a bit of talk about the Splash Mountain lap bars some months ago - I don't even remember when - but that's the magic of Disney. They make it so it seems like something has always been there even though it hasn't been. I'm sure you won't be the only one riding not even realizing they didn't use to be there.
