The Two Week "Mini" Disney Vacation - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like you had a successful shopping trip! I wanted to lose a bit before we went too, but it just doesn't seem to be working out.
DH is losing (men do lose it easier) so I need to catch up. 2 lbs lost last week so slow but sure. Although I can gain 5 lbs just by driving by Krispy Kreme! (7 lbs if the light is on!)

OK - who thinks I may have started this PTR way too early - raise your hand.
Nothing much to report today. Just busy working. DH has "hell week" for his play. This means they do a full run through every night. So he works, goes to rehearsal, and sleeps - that's about it. Poor guy will be exhausted after this week. They only run two weekends (like six performances) - so he is almost done.
I got my Fall issue of Twenty Three yesterday! Along with a really cool patch from the Archives Collection! - Sweet. I haven't opened the mag - I'm working and don't really have the time to sit down and read it yet. When I work - it is 12 hours on/12 off for 3 days straight. So I finish a 36 hour work week in 3 days. Leaves me little time to do much else. Meg is used to it (and usually DH is here after work for her) and the cats couldn't care less. You know - when a "master" calls, the dog answers the phone but the cat lets it go to voice mail. I realized - I never introduced my cats, just Meg. So here they are.
This is Tilly (the grey and white one) and Mac (the tiger). They are 2 years old in October. These were DH's fault. His doc "found" them in a box on the side of the road and she couldn't keep them. He called me one day from work pleading their case and yes - I caved. Glad I did though - they are cuties!
This is April - she's about 12 years old. Also known as "the diva", "the moron" or "the pain". She is very mouthy and set in her ways. But she is a love. (on her time). She was also a stray that a friend found and thought we needed (11 years ago).
Ok that's about it. Time to go to work anyway. More fluff later.

Awww, Coop! I love all animals but I am a cat person in my heart. Your kitties are so cute!!
You sound like me with the donuts and gaining weight when you drive by. For me it's fast food. I swear my car knows how to go there itself, and when I drive by it just turns in!
I don't think you have started too early, I like reading and talking with you. It's like me, I started mine earlier to so I have long stretches between postings. I am planning a post though in 6 days...bc I'll be at 30 days then!!
I am glad Meg is doing better! Your kitties are so cute! Mac is the same coloring as my cat Jasmine. She is so pretty but I avoid her while wearing black!
Love the cat pictures. My cat is the Queen of the house. She has us trained well. Glad to hear Meg is doing better. I would suggest Flame Tree Bbq in Ak to use some of your dining credits.

Wow Sparks - almost there! I'm dancing with you! I've seen people do longer PTR's and I like talking with you too so maybe my timing is just right.

Thanks! Isn't that the truth! Our cats seem to always know when we have on dark clothes!

Ooh yes! We loved Flame Tree last year! (except we had a crazy stalking duck!)

Wow! When you type out the DxDP ADRs, it's amazing. I could just do a vakay around a plan like that and never do anything else!
Thanks Jennie! I will post a vet update tomorrow. It seems like we kind of planned this trip around our stomachs. Warning: I will definitely be doing the food porn pictures for my TR.
Not a lot to report today. Just finished my work week and today is my "burn out day" as dubbed by DH. It just means I get a day to myself, no expectations, no responsibilities. DH started this because I work 36 hours in 3 days and I needed to recover. DH lets me sleep in with no alarm, get up have coffee, do whatever I want then maybe take a nap. Afterward, he brings home subs or grills chicken or something for dinner so I don't have to cook. Then he cleans up. Yes, I am spoiled! Treats me like a queen - . Just LOVE that man! Although, since he is at rehearsal today, I'm on my own for dinner. I think I can manage though. Not like I will starve or waste away. I'm thinking veggies, rotisserie chicken and a glass of wine sounds good.
Anyhow, Meg goes to the vet tomorrow and her wounds are healing nicely! I expect that the vet will be happy with her progress. Then Friday I have to take the car in for yearly maintenance.
I am also feeling the need to cook. I make my own pasta and am thinking about making homemade lasagna to freeze for dinners. Also I make homemade eggrolls and want to make a batch as well. Only problem is - I'm running out of freezer space. Last week I made white chili and the week before I made chicken and dumplings. All of which I made extra to freeze for lunches/dinners. (I cook for a army! ) We shall see. These things may have to wait until we clear out the freezer but that's ok.
I am planning on ordering the gps/phone holder for my car this week. Also need to order my swimsuit. The one I like is from a catalogue where I bought my last one. I really hate swimsuit/clothes shopping and this makes it much easier. Being a "larger" woman, I find that most clothes etc for us make us look like we have just given up. I have found nothing with any style. Everything is either from mail order or at a super expensive specialty shop like Lane Bryant. Now, I'm older and don't expect or even want to wear what kids (20-30 year olds) are wearing. I just want to look classy not upholstered. I want to wear my clothes. I don't want my clothes to wear me.
Sorry that was a mini rant. (To go with my "mini" theme? hahaha)
Enough for today. Tomorrow a vet update.
