Dreaming of a Disney spring break - part three COMPLETED - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Nice update I'm really looking forward to seeing Nemo. I haven't seen it yet and I not really crazy about FOLK. I haven't seen it since the theather was enclosed so it has been a while and on my list to next trip but Nemo is a MUST DO for me.
sorry about the rudeness it's the same with the clueless people. When it is really crowded you can't just NOT pay attention to things. Hopefully things will get better.
Amazing pictures, as always!
Sorry about all the rude people. I seriously don't understand why people can't show a little common courtesy to others. It's sad when my 3.5 yo DS and 2 yo DS have more manners than most adults... sigh.
I must say that I laughed my butt off when I saw the komodo dragon pictures.
Great photos and the Little Nemo Show looks wonderful, I think we need to add that back on the list, we saw it once, was not our favorite but maybe it was just a bad day so who knows....sorry that the heat was so bad again today, I find the AK to be hot on a good day so on a hot day....I would be making my way out fo the park too.
Looking forward to hearing about the R&C, we are skipping it this trip but the new menu changes do look appetizing...
I agree with the amount of people running into each other is staggering (no pun intended). I made the comment last trip that perhaps I had forgotten to pay my Visibility Bill prior to leaving on vakay and that was the reason I was getting trampled - no one could see me! Add the heat you experienced on your trip and I would have been one Crabby Person!
I really chuckled about the komodo dragon..."flopped down" really describes that last pic! I don't think I've ever seen a true flop like that!
I, too, have to chime in about manners. I really believe it's all down to parenting. As my BFF and I say all the time, many parents should never have become parents in the first place. Having kids is a commitment, and it's a full time commitment. Sure, you can take some time off when it's appropriate, but some times you just can't take time off. I have two kids, one of whom is special needs, and it's exhausting, but I chose to bring them into this world, and I want them to add enjoyment to the world, not annoyance! I'm in it for the long haul. When I 'm dead and gone, I want them to still reflect my attempts to teach them manners, and hope that they've done the same with their kids!
Kids are always the parents' responsibility, you can't just choose to take a break when you feel like it. Inconsiderate adults today...what in the world do you think they're teaching to the kids of tomorrow? It's sad that we see examples of this all the time (see Cam's latest update about the bathroom kids, lol!).
Okay, sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now!

We saw Nemo on our last trip. The show was really good, except, the "that's my Dad" got on my nerves after about the 20th time.
Rudeness....don't get me started. All it takes is a trip to Walmart and I'm done. People bumping into me...well, it doesn't end well, lets just leave it at that.

More great pics of Animal Kingdom. I hope you have a huge scrapbook planned for this trip with all these lovely pictures you have taken.
I've ordered two big scrapbooks, one for Egypt and one for this trip, although looking at how much I've already done for Egypt, I'm not sure it'll be enough!
I don't know where people's courtesy and manners are nowadays. I once was coming out of the bathrooms half way down Sunset Blvd and this woman was blocking the door. I said excuse me 5 times, each time getting a little louder and a little less polite(and more demanding)but still nice. She STILL didn't move, so I just busted through. I got called all kind of names by her and the people behind her. I turned around and said "look lady, when you're blocking the door way and you don't move for politeness, then you sure as heck will move for rudeness" and I walked away.
Beautiful photos! I agree about the rudeness level increasing. Yesterday at the grocery store a woman was stopped with her cart blocking an aisle. She just stood there browsing the shelves and wouldn't move despite repeated requests.

I'm just catching up on your TR and I HAD to stop when I read about Via Napoli ( as we so did love it there) and then I saw the cheese plate from YS, OH MY, that and some wine is all I really need to make me happy sometimes. Glad you enjoyed it. The Yatch Club looks so pretty, I hope we get to wonder around there when we stay at the BC soon.
Ok, I'm off to go finish up...........sorry just got sidetracked by CHEESE!
Why do I get the feeling that sooner or later you'll be having some CHEESE to eat?
As for rude people...don't even get me started! By the end of my vacation I've usually lost my patience for those who think it's okay to not say thank you, excuse me, or you're welcome. I'm trying to except the fact that more and more people have the "all about them" mentality...it's kind of sad when you think of it since I'm constantly teaching my 2 year old her manners. For example, she's the only one in her swim class who even says "thank you" when the teacher hands her a swim toy...just sad.
Amazing pictures, as always!
