The Great Procrastination PTR--Trip in Aug. 2011 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I looked at the calendar today and noticed that there were only 36 more days until our trip! Geesh! Time flies!
I was unable to link our dining ressies with our room ressies. I know that it isn't exactly necessary to do so, but I thought it would be a good idea. Once things have calmed down here, I'll call Disney myself. For whatever reason, the TA couldn't do it. I had asked her to take care of it because when I had time to do so Disney's system was down. Oh well. I'll decide later whether or not I want to persue the matter.
I had the kids make chains so that we can count down how many days we have left. It was such a good idea in my head, but it didn't really work out that way. For Anna's I did the writing and she did the gluing. Together we did the linking.
Here is a picture of Anna's chain and another of Anna doing her gluing:
The third picture is of Jack working on his chain before he got bored with it. He is writing "__________ days 'til [Mickey Head]." He wants to use it to count the days, but he really doesn't want to take the time to make it. So I finished it for him. I have to upload the pictures of his.
Next on the list is finding the suitcases. When we do our trips, we've been using our giant IKEA bag for luggage. That just won't work on a plane. Jack has a "spy suitcase" That he would like to use. That means I should find Anna her own little suitcase, too.
I bought Anna some clothes for the trip. I counted what combinations of shorts and shirts the kids had and I found that Anna was a little on the short side. Jack's got a ton of clothes, she doesn't. You'd think it'd be the other way around. So I bought her a couple of t-shirts and a cute Red Sox Hoodie. Plus a couple of sun dresses. I think that's it...I'll have to keep myself from buying any more...no matter how cute the item of clothing may be.
Next week, we're taking a little trip to the Cape. We have a friend who lives out in Wellfleet and we'll be going down there at the same time as John's sister and her family. I'm really looking forward to the escape. The kids love the beach there (and so do I).
Thanks abain for your pixies and sympathy. We're starting to get on with things after Brian's passing. As usual, the boards are helping me.
I think a few days at the beach will be what everyone could use at this time... you are getting close now, hope you are able to link your reservations before you leave if you decide to go that route.
I'm sorry for your loss! I'm glad the boards have been supportive and comforting to you during this time! Sounds like the trip plans are coming together!
I had commented way back when you first started, and then kind of lost your PTR. I'm all caught up now, though! I am very sorry for your loss. I am glad all your plans are coming together, and the chain looks great! Your kids are cuties.
You have put much more planning into your vacation than we have lol! Which with how many people you guys have going is absolutely necessary. There's only Adam and I going on our vacation, so its a lot easier!
Kristy's 21st is 2 days after mine our vacations over lap (ours is the 21st-26th) doesn't look like our plans do and I hope your family (small army) has a great time in the happiest place in the world!
I think planning is half the fun in a disney vacation, also makes time go a little faster
This is a tiny picture, but it came from my phone. This is Anna this morning.
As I think I may have mentioned, Anna has some developmental delays that really affect how she responds to various stimuli. I have found that the more informed she is about any given situation, the better she handles it and the fewer the temper tantrum. So I have been going through Cam's and Heather's current trip reports with the kids so that they can see the great photos both ladies include.
Over breakfast, we went through the latest updates on both. They both included several great pics of character interaction. Every time Anna saw a new character, she would jump up and down screaming, "Yay! We're going to see _____!"
When we finished, she demanded that I help her get dressed, even though Jack and I were still in our jammies. She put on her hat and her flip-flops and started urging us (not so politely) to get dressed, too, and to put on our flip-flops. When we weren't as quick to respond as she would have liked, she started explaining to us that we needed to get a move on because, "We're going to Disney World!"

Too cute! My younger brother was like that as a kid. My mom would always have to explain exactly what was going to be going on when we went somewhere new, and any disruption in our normal routine caused fits and temper tantrums, because it confused him and made him feel insecure. As a kid, I just thought it was annoying, but now, I realize he couldn't really help it. Good luck with the month of waiting!
