Patience, My Young Padawan PTR - UPDATED 5/25 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First, loving reading your report. We're a big star wars family and can not wait to ride the new Star Tours.
Second, on the bag issue, my kids are older (16 and 10) so we have one bag for the family and we love KAVU bags. the one shoulder rope bag is our favorite: Rope Bag - Bags - KAVU We can buy them locally at Mountain High and a few boutique/gift shops. My daughter even took it as a day trip bag to Germany last summer and it still looks brand new. The fabric is not as soft as a Vera Bradly or Thirty-One - more like a backpack.
This bag has been my top pick so far ; I've been looking at it for a long time now and wondering how the rope strap feels. I need to see if I can find someone who carries them locally so I can try it out.
Kelley and Cory carry their own fanny packs which helps out immensely and Kevin tries to wear cargo shorts, so that helps, too. I've found out, though, if I carry a bigger bag, all of a sudden everyone has something they want me to carry in it!

to Kelley I hope she's having a great day!!
Thanks Lisa! You know, I think you might have been the original person who inspired me to get that Baggallini Messenger bag.

Shadowryter is awesome on this site! She designs beautiful custom shirts and you just print them on iron on paper!
Check out this thread http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...-t-shirts.html
click on her name at the bottom of one of her posts and it will take you to her shared file. She has tons of designs. You can get her to personalize whatever you want.
Cool site - thank you!! Lots of beautiful designs there.
Kevin's shoes arrived and (bum bum bummmmm...) he ordered the wrong size! So now I've got to send them back and reorder - hopefully the discount code will still be good.
And this isn't exactly trip related...yet in a way it is, as I really wanted to get the last trip scrapped before we left. (Okay, I'll be realistic and admit unless I have 3 or 4 weeks to myself and a ton more extra cash, this scrapbook won't be complete before our next trip.) HOWEVER, I was totally stuck on some of my DHS pages because I could't find the type of paper I had my heart set on.
So, while I was out shopping for Kelley's birthday decorations, I happened upon a Hollywood Party theme at Party City. Cool stuff. I want to have a Hollywood Party....But to get back to the point, I found two small poster board cut-outs that will work perfectly with what I'm wanting to do for a few of my pages.
I'm pretty happy with my find; it means I don't have to order special paper for this first scrapbook.
Still searching for clothes for the girls. Still contemplating which new bag to try next. And still working on my SW touring which probably won't be complete until we can see a schedule from the opening weekend.
I'm also still second-guessing myself about dinner at Y&Y or Sanaa... Since I'm running out of time, the decision might just be made for me.
Very scrapbooking supplies!! I still love my Baggalini Messenger, it's just a bit to big anymore. I'll probably end up using it anyway, it just won't be as full. Good luck with all your last minute shopping, contemplating and planning. I'm sure it will all work out!
Hey Cathy, any idea on when the SWW schedule will be out for that weekend? I am debating standing in line for an FP too...guess I will have to see how early hubby is willing to get up
Your plans look great! As for a bag, I bought a Vera Mini-hipster last year, and while it was a pretty good size to carry in the parks, the strap was a little too thin for me. This year I bought the Organizer Shoulder bag from thirty-one (like Kelly mentioned). It was perfect. Have fun choosing one that suits you! Here are some pics from our past trip with each of the bags. (sorry the pictures are so big!!!)

Hey, I REMEMBER YOU!! Our trips were gonna be the same time about in September and I felt awful for you postponing your trip, but it sounds amazing!
You have the rough collie Duncan, right?
Thanks for your advice regarding the Baggallinni Shoulder Messenger bag. I did order one and it worked out PERFECTLY for us. Now I use it for tracking with Layla; we have to (well, Layla has to, I just follow behind her ) follow a human scent for 1000 yards or so. I have to carry gloves, socks, food, water, etc and it works there too.
I can't wait to hear about your trip and plans! I hope you like Fantasmic as much as we love it, it's one of our absolute favorites. At the risk of sounding blasphemous, I might prefer Fantasmic over Wishes!
Thanks again for your help with my bag. I'm finally getting around to the trip report (just started the other day) so one day I'll get around to scrapbooking lol
I don't have a problem with the thinness of the strap on the mini hipster, but I don't have anything heavy in the bag either. I generally put the heavy things--my phone and camera in my pockets. The only reason I carry a bag at all is that my asthma inhaler is an awkward shape! In the bag are the inhaler, business card case I use as my wallet, lip goo and cigarettes. I shove a $1 poncho in the back pocket when it looks like its going to rain!
As for your meal dilemma--the foodie votes for Sanaa! It's the one place we eat on EVERY trip! It's awesome and affordable!

Kelley would like to thank all of you for her birthday wishes. She truly had a wonderful day, even though with all the wind and rain we had, her tennis plans were put on hold for annother day.
Here's a photo of the birthday girl and her scrumptious cake!
I realized today that I didn't give her any 'Disney money' for a gift. Luckily, her Aunt Jodie called (they've been in FL this past week) and asked if she thought Kelley would appreciate some money to take with her on vacation.

Donna, from what I've heard from other people who tend to go to SWW every year, we won't see an official 'schedule' or event map until the opening weekend. I'm hoping some of those who will be there ahead of us will post it online.

Just so you know, I decided to go ahead and add a ADR for Sanaa - especially since I forgot that our Y&Y ressie was for lunch and not dinner. Not sure why I did that - could be I just couldn't get the time for dinner that we wanted...Anyway, I figure this will give us plenty of time to make a decision.

And I remember you!! And your pretty girl Layla. Yep, Duncan is our collie.

Glad it worked out well for you. Believe it or not, I use mine on day hikes more than anything else. BTW, I would love to try Duncan with tracking. For a collie, he seems to be unusually scent-oriented. I'd like to know how he'd do.

I can't wait to see Fantasmic! either! And thanks for the heads-up on your TR - I've already cruised over and am reading along.
