Early PTR Sep 2011- Stitch and Tigger do Disney! - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

3 Questions so far: When do the Halloween decorations start going up? Fireworks at the Cali Grill, can we head up early and watch them from here? MNSSHP, dates haven't been announced yet, is it worth going?
Not sure about decorations. I haven't been in Sept (yet...). MNSSHP is DEFINITELY worth it! If I was there when it was going on I wouldn't miss it! (Heck, I'm thinking about making a special trip for it!)
As it is day 111 I feel an update is in order, so where to begin?
Firstly we have now found that the cheapest way to rent a car is to have it just for the first ten days, which means my beautiful plans have all been turned around, cramming all non disney days into the first week. Que a lot of ADR tinkering, I've still got the restaurants I want but I couldn't always get them on the days I wanted, I'd hate to think what booking ADR's is like, less than a month away.
Secondly Narcosee's is a no go, as they only do evening meals and I couldn't find a way to fit this in, very sad indeed. However this free'd up table credits so more fun choosing .
Anyhow here is the new plan:
*Copied from previous post, hence familiar bits, changes highlighted in pink
Monday - 05/09/11
Hopefully we'll be getting the lift to the airport with a friend, so that we have no need to park the car, yay. 1400 flight, arriving at MCO at 1800. I love flying, so looking forward to this . The plan is to pick up the car (or not? who knows?) then drive to Denny's for dinner (one of the few stipulations of Stitch, he has few others, but he sure loves Denny's, who knew?) then to Walmart for supplies, if we're not totally pooped. And of course to POFQ for sleep... lots of sleep.
Tuesday - 06/09/11
Magic Kingdom day! Have an ADR for Crystal palace before park opening, yay, so lots of empty park piccies. Then waiting for park opening at 9am, so we can watch the opening ceremony, something I don't think I've ever seen. Try to get all the major must see's out of the way for lunch at a CS possibly Casey's but it doesn't really matter. Return to the hotel for Pool and nap time and then back to the Park for ADR - Cinderella's Royal table and then the fireworks.
Wednesday - 07/09/11
Stitch's birthday! I have a big surprise for the morning, which I won't be divulging here-yet, however I have a fair few suprises in store, will tell you all about those later, it's too secret and so amazing! Then of to downtown or Hollywood Studio's for a CS lunch and then to Outback steakhouse for dinner (again a stitch must do... I don't question these things, any input into planning is a good thing)
Might see Fantasia this night if there's time.
Thursday - 08/09/11 Islands of Adventure day, plus the big potter too
Friday - 09/09/11 Universal studio's day
Saturday - 10/09/11 Sea world
Sunday - 11/09/11
Resort and Downtown Disney Am, try and take the boat down to DD from POFQ. Disney Quest is a significant possibility here. Planet hollywood for dinner and MK EMH if energy allows.
Monday - 12/09/11 Discovery Cove day, with a Raglan Road evening ADR.
Tuesday - 13/09/11 Cape Canaveral and Cocoa beach trip.
Wednesday - 14/09/11 Free day, returning the car mid afternoon, and then an ADR at Fultons.
Thursday - 15/09/11 Magic kingdom AM EMH, Typhoon lagoon afternoon and Jiko ADR for the evening.
Friday - 16/09/11 Late Ohana breakfast, then a slow day at Epcot, with Tepan Edo and illuminations to finish the day.
Saturday - 17/09/11 Animal kingdom day with a Yak and Yeti lunch and free afternoon.
Sunday - 18/09/11
Lie in, and late breakfast at Chef Mickey's with a relaxed day and then MK for late EMH, hoping to see the parades and fireworks this night. Have an ADR for California Grill just after the fireworks.
Monday - 19/09/11 Hollywood studio's early, with a mama melrose lunch, free afternoon and late Boma dinner.
Tuesday - 20/09/11
EMH at Epcot, Le cellier for lunch, free afternoon. Possibly MNSSHP on this evening.
Wednesday - 21/09/11
Free day - maybe visit the flight or science museum... maybe crash and burn from running around non stop for two weeks?
Thursday - 22/09/11
Typhoon lagoon Am
Free afternoon, Cape May Cafe for dinner.
Friday - 23/09/11
Home flight at 1800, free day otherwise.
So how does it look? I've decided I'm just no good at this planning lark either, I'm a perfectionist and there's just so many things to consider.
Thanks for all your comments guys, I'm so excited now, only 110 days to go, can't wait

Thanks I'm definitely thinking about going, it works out well for the end of the holiday too. Just got to see if the budget will stretch, lol.

I want to spend the last day at MK, I'm so annoyed with Narcosee's I really wanted to eat at the Grand Floridian. Oh well, another trip maybe, maybe we'll stay there too, lol a girl can dream, right? It does work out well having no set meals on the last day, if we have any cs credits left we can use these up.

MNSSHP is on the to do list, it looks fun, I think I'm put of by the fact it seems to be aimed at families and kids? And I suppose Halloween isn't my fave holiday, I'm a big wimp when it comes to horror movies and the like.

Really when I found this out, sucks. However it has opened up credits so we're doing crystal palace and fulton's instead, which I'm hoping will make up for it.

I am not a horror movie fan at all - I got scared as a kid with the movie Back to the Future.
The Halloween party absolutely freaking rocks!!!!!!!!!! It is the *best* fireworks show I have ever seen at Disney. It just knocked my socks off and then some. To the point where we are also going in Sept (yay!!) and I specifically made our reservations to leave on the 14th so we can do the first Halloween Party.
Yes, it's geared to family and kids - but no more so than Magic Kingdom is itself in general. There is still stuff that you, as a grown up, will like.
Also, I see that there is a Stitch fan We danced with him in Tomorrowland at one of the parties between the parades.
Great new plans! The Halloween Party is awesome and should not be missed, we loved the special parade! In fact, one of our friends is joining us on our next October trip and I'm buying tickets (and not telling her! It should be a good surprise!)
