Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Good Morning Pixies!
Another cold day here, it's 10 degrees out again just like yesterday. At least you get some exercise if you're outside cause you're always in a hurry to get back inside!!
Accomplished my 2 miles again last night in 30 minutes and drank all my required water.
Michele, KUDOS to you! 5 miles in 1 hour!! You must be in pretty good shape to keep running for 1 hour! How long have you been running?
Good for you Donna! 3 pounds since New Years' is great. You and I are both doing it slowly but surely!
Marie, you're right about staying healthier from drinking all the water. Water helps cleanse the body of toxins. It's good for every part of our body, even our brains! I just learned this the other day on TV. I knew water was good for you, but I didn't realize just HOW good. I haven't been sick at all, since I started drinking water everyday about a year and a half ago. I'm knocking on wood right now.
Tikibird, it's ugly here too! Can't wait for Spring!! I hate winter!!!
Ann, congrats for loosing that pound that you gained from those stuffed jalopenos. Now that's definately something that I never crave! Too hot for me, I'm a whimp!!
I found a new snack the other day. They are soooo good!! "Old London" Melba Snacks. They come in several flavors. I've been eating the garlic ones. Only 1 gram of fat in 5 pieces (which are pretty good sized), 60 calories, No cholesterol and No sugar. They are very crunchy!
Have a great day everybody and drink your water!!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/16/03

Went to gym today. Was on the treadmill, and nearing the end of my routine, I got the urge to run, and so I started...ran for about 9 minutes straight ( along time for me), and felt like I could've gone further...must have been "in the zone"...hehehe! Anyway, added squats to my routine...am pretty sure I will be unable to walk tomorrow, but hey, at least I am out there! Good luck today everyone!

Still sticking to my resolution. Just eating healthy and chugging my water. I must drink close to a gallon a day to combat the dryness in the house from the electric heat!

I've lost a little weight this week, but it seesaws so much any more, I don't want to jinx myself by naming the amount. You all understand. Those last four pregnant pounds just don't want to come off!

I'm really having trouble sticking with my exercise routine. How do you guys do it?

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Simple answer... we don't have a newborn! Seriously, it took me a lot of stubbornness to get started. I just told myself that I had to get on the treadmill. Now I do whenever I have to work 3.5 hours or less in a day. And I've got my treadmill positioned so that I can turn the closed captioning on the tv and watch my favourite shows while I'm walking. That way I don't really notice that I'm exercising except for during commercials. Maybe you can find some exercises that incorporated DJ into your routine. I know one is to lay on your back (knees bent of course) and lift baby up in the air. Kind of like doing free weights. If you're lucky he'll giggle and it will make it fun. I'm sure there's other mommy/baby exercises.

I managed to speed up to 1.5 miles in 30 minutes yesterday. And I did it at an incline of 3.5 so I'd burn extra calories. I think I'll keep it there for a couple days. My back is still achy, but I don't think I'll see any improvements until next week when I'm supposed to get 3 days off in a row. I keep aggravating it at work.

I also managed to stay within my points range for 2 days in a row! That's really something, because I've been "good" one day and then the next is an "oops" day lately. So I'm determined that today will be Day 3 In A Row for me! And I think I'm floating away from all the water I've been drinking lately. At least my body's become used to it and I don't have to have so many potty breaks.

Everybody, keep determined. We can do this!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/16/03

Good afternoon everyone! VERY cold here too as Tiki can attest... I did really well on the diet so far but am craving a spicy chicken sandwich ~Cindy.. I was LOL about your "wimp" comkment.. I LOVE spicy.. the hotter the better & I've been really craving hot on this diet.. I did real well on my food movers this AM & afternoon ( had a low calorie favorite~ monte Cristo sandwich~ recipe below) so I figure I could splurge a little & go to Ruby Tuesdays for the spicy chicken sand. I decided it was probably better to bring it home & not eat it there with all the high fat dressings ( & Fries)
The fiber is really kicking in so my IBS is under control..
Here's the recipe for the Monte Cristo sanwiches ( it sounds odd but it is very yummy)
2 slices low calorie bread, spread honey dijon mustard on one side & low sugar Raspberry preserves on the other ( I know it sounds odd)
add 2 slices low salt, low fat luncheon turkey breast ( or ham)
slice low fat swiss cheese.
Grill sandwich until toasted & sprinkle with powdered sugar
THis sounds wierd but it is very tasty.. the mustard & raspberry give it a 'different' taste..
I think the total fat count is something like 3 grams of fat. not bad huh?
I just got a recipe for low fat egg nog ( I love it throught the year) can't wait to try that..
off to get my chix sand...

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/16/03

Hey girls,

Today so far has been totally non-productive. We had to go to one of our friends Dad's funeral. Don't feel sad, he loved people, loved life and was married 50 years. He actually wrote a letter to be read saying just that. "Don't wreck today feeling sad for me, go back to the house and have a party for my life." Odd it was almost a joyous funeral. Our last few have been people that went to early (30's-40's)so they were tear jerkers. I don't ever remember such an almost happy one. Special guy he was. One of those town sweeties everyone knows. Anyway, ate too much and I still have to attend a Pampered Chef party later tonight. No time to excercise even. I'm gonna push myself pretty hard tomorrow. At least I'm almost done w/ my first qt of water(lemon today).

Cindy-I have only been running for 6 months now. Just like what happened to Debbie yesterday, one day I just wanted to run. At first I couldn't even do 9 mins. so good for you Debbie! Gradually though I sped up. My incline works terribly on my treadmill though so that time of one hour is on totally flat ground.

Chrissi-I stick with my diet for a real serious reason. A few years back my best friend got liver cancer. We searched all over Boston for the best doctor's, cures etc. We saw the top guy in Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston(The tops for cancer treatment). What he told my friend was that his cancer was caused mainly by lifestyle. Granted he was a smoker and I am not but the DR. said the magic word inactivity. Well my friend, most unfortunately, lost his battle with the cancer. So that word inactivity(at the time a perfect description of my lifestyle) rolled around in my head for a while and then I just decided I could change my destiny if I wanted. I didn't have to be unhealthy. At the time I was at least 125 lbs. over my ideal weight. I started slowly walking and try to exercise everyday. No days off b/c it is the weekend or whatever. I guess I just realized I owed it to my son to take as good care of myself as possible(Sorry that answer was so long and serious but that is pretty much what keeps me at it each day) Okay-getting off soapbox, dusting off and putting up on shelf til needed next.LOL

I agree with Cindy slow and steady. That's the best way to keep it off. Keep it up girls you are keeping me inspired with your successes!
