I have always used post bound albums, but as some of my albums get bigger and bigger I am starting to rethink my options as it is nearly impossible to dismantle a post-bound album and get it back together once you have completed pages in it. Three ring albums seem like they might be the way to go.

So which type of album to you usually use and what makes it your album of choice?

I switched to three ring binders by American Crafts almost a year ago. I'll never go back to post bound.

Until my most recent album, I have always used the post bound albums. But after reading some posts here, I purchased a 3- ring binder for our November trip. So much easier to use since I make very large books. This one is 74 pages and weighs 9.5 lbs, but still looks fine in the 3-ring binder. I still use small 8 1/2 x 12 post bound albums for Stefanie's, but I'm sold on the 3 ring for our big vacation albums.

I LOVE the 3-ring binders. They are not as "finished" looking, but that does ot bother me in the least. They are easier to modify, and that is what makes he book more "alive." I get the ones with a little cutout on the front for a picture. I try to get the same color for each kid (family album is brown, Christma is red, boy is blue, girl is pink, second girl gets light green and I wrap it with a pink bow ...). I first found them online for about $17. But they now have them at Archivers. About the same price with their coupons...

Another reason I'm loving the three ring binders is I'm also starting to scrap 8.5x11 and I can mix them in the same album. I don't have theme albums anymore. Everything goes in one place.

I'll have to check out those albums at Archiver's next time I am there.

I've never heard of them, but it sounds like a good idea. My magic kingdom pages took three post bound albums. Does anyone have a link to a three ring binder?

I started out with the strap-hinge ones, and they were a huge pain in the patootie, especially since you have to trim every page.
I now use the post-bound with the drop-in pages, but someone told me while I was doing the first one about the adapter kits you can buy for $4-$5. They're hard to describe, but you get rid of the posts and put a plastic strap through the hole. It has serrated teeth that are held in place by these holders that go inside the cover.
Does anyone else use these, and have a better description than that muddled one?
I can't see doing the 3-ringed binders now that I'm using these, but I really do understand the attraction!

You can take and convert your post bound albums to type of strap hinge. I love them! And they accomodate A LOT of pages!!! Check out Michaels or Joanns for the conversion kits - and they aren't expensive at all.....especially if you have a 40% off coupon.

I used to use post-bound albums, but they drove me mad every time I wanted to add more pages. I've gone on to three ring binders and those are so much easier to deal with.

I am a Creative Memories album lover here - love that I can add/delete pages very easily. Yes they are a bit more expensive.......but they hold up very well (years of DD handling the same ones over and over every night before she goes to bed!)

I still use post bound albums, but since I don't load all my pages until the end of a project they don't bother me. I've looked at the 3-ring binders and I just don't think they look as nice *shrugs*

I've used post bound in the past, but after seeing a couple posts here, I switched to the 3 ring, and I them. They are so much easier to use. I've also noticed that with post bound books, if you use a lot of pages, they can begin to fall apart.

The only 3-ring binder I've used is one I bought at WDW and I hate it! It wasn't big enough for all the pages from our trip, so now it's this big wedge thing on the shelf.
I started with Creative Memories albums. Loved the durability but didn't like that you pretty much had to scrap everything in order. So I switched to 12x12 postbounds. Now that Creative Memories has gone to true 12x12 and clear pages, I am looking forward to using their covers again.
I'm intrigued by the conversion kits though. There are such pretty post bound covers out there. And it sounds like they can be "custom sized" more closely than the posts? I have a couple of post bounds that don't have quite enough pages for the amount of post they required, so they're rather floppy.
