Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

PHotopass CD - help!

I have never ordered one before because we always took really great pictures. This year... not so much. I am totally in the dark about how this works and how much it would cost to purchase the entire CD of the pictures Disney photogs took. I have looked at the pictures online and I do like most of the,. Is it cheaper to buy the whole CD rather than the outrageous cost of individual photos? Can someone explain this? TIA!

Whether or not to purchasing the CD depends on how many photos were taken.

Do you like all of them or just a few?

Are you planning to add borders and such, or just want them as is?

Do you want prints or downloads?

And, do you want to share them electronically. . . like on the "boards?"

For us, the photo CD is a must. We buy before we go, but it sounds like you're back already and deciding to purchase. The photo CD is about $150 plus shipping, so consider that for the amount the number of photos taken. Remember that if you purchase the CD the photos and copyrights are yours.

Good luck with the decision.

Next time, you'll pre-purchase for a significant savings.

I am going to buy the cd first before we go this time but in the past they didn't have this option so I just bought the cd. You can play with the borders and add them to the pictures and they are included in the cd when you buy it. The copyright is yours and you can order the exact pictures you want in the sizes you want. It also allows me to use it with other sites to make scrapbook pages etc.

Hope that helps and good luck.

All good points! I'd say there are about 10 - 15 photos total I would love to have.

Borders are not a necessity.

Yes, I would share them electronically (but this is not a must do depending on price) so i guess my answer is I would like prints vs downloads?

Hmmm.... what do you think?

Reading your post above I would get the cd with the amount of pictures you liked and the cost of the pictures your looking at about the same amount for the cd plus this way you can order the CD with the edited pictures as well for about the same price Good Luck (I was happy with the pre-order last time so I am doing it again this trip)

I got the CD both times I went (although foolishly did not pre-order. Both these trips were pre-PP boards. Thank goodness you guys taught me the errors of my ways!)
My first CD I went through and put boarders this time I did not but I am glad I got both! When I come home I am all about the pictures but eventually must get back to reality post Disney wonderfulness. However as I get the itch to go back I start my scrap booking!
The CD is SO helpful when I do this as I can change the size of my pictures or print out multiple. It is not time sensitive and that is what I love. Now while I am freezing and seeing my counter at 9months away I have a little magic on a round disk to tide me over.

If there are that many you want, I'd get the CD. Have fun with the borders! Remember, though, to save them in the size you'll want to print them so they print correctly Also, even when you add borders, it saves as a copy, so you always have the originals on the CD. I know we'll all enjoy seeing your pics in your TR!

I feel like a complete idiot for not pre-ordering the CD. Like I said, we usually get so many nice shots ourselves but this time we seem to be lacking and DH doesn't want to spend the $150 for the CD. It's going to be tough to narrow down the pics!!

Oh, no! Check the link karen63 posted. It's a really good site.

One year my DH didn't want to spend the money for the CD, so we ordered prints, but we had so many great shots, we ended up spending even more! Now we always order the CD, if only for the borders. Good luck deciding!

I bought the cd the last time we went to Disney and I'm really glad I did. We had several really nice family pics and several nice ones of dd, I was able to make as many copies as I wanted and send them to family. I really liked being able to have them at my fingertips. Plus to me its cheaper to take them to Walmart to print. I can always print more if i want them. I'm sure we will get them this time too.

Okay..I am stupid..I always order the CD and have mine from last year..but I don't see where I can add borders? What am I missing? What I am I doing wrong that I can't add borders? Or do I do that on the photopass website right away when I get back?

That being said, I highly recommend buying early! If you travel w/ someone just get your pictures together. We normally travel with another family and we split the cost of the pre-purchase. Then when we are there we get one photopass card and get even pictures of both families or all together. We are that annoying family that says "Wait can you take one of just them...okay now can you take one of us? Okay now can you take one of just my kids????" I know you have waited behind us and been ticked. So I apologize. But it does save money. When we get home we share the CD and load them to snapfish or wherever and we have them.

When you get back from your trip, load all of your photopass cards onto your account. From there you can look at all of them, edit/crop/resize whatever and then on the right hand side of the picture there should be a large selection of borders to add to your pictures. Just pick whatever you like and save the picture. You will still have the original, and then a new copy with whatever edits/borders you had added. When you order the CD it will have ALL of the photos in your account. So if you started with say 40 photos and then added a border to every single one, your cd would have 80 photos on it. You can't add borders once you have the cd in hand, just on the photopass website prior to ordering.

Haha, don't apologize!! I don't mind waiting for a photo if it's something I really want. And if I don't want to wait, I move on and go back later. The service is there to capture your memories, so who am I to complain if you want as many different photos as possible. I only get slightly annoyed when it's a large group of say, teenagers, and they want like 50 different photos at one location (like in front of the coach during MNSSHP).

We will be pre-ordering the photopass CD for the third time. I love the professional photos that have my entire group in them. (I'm not afraid to ask a CM or another guest to take a group photo on my camera, but when I hand them my giant Canon DLSR they get a glazed look of fear that they'll drop it. )

Knowing we already have the CD we "stalk" the photopass photographers to get as many as we possibly can. It so often turns out one we did just because it was there turns out to be one of our favirite shots of the trip.

Have fun and good luck!!
