We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Getting home from work yesterday was less than fun, but at least we all made it home safely. I hope Skyler is feeling better by Christmas, and here's hoping you get all of your shopping done!

Thank you all so much for the pixies again. Melissa, I'm so glad you made it home safely from work in the snow. My poor DMIL was sliding all over the place, that she had to pull over and wait for DFIL to pick her up and leave her car somewhere safe for the night, and also had him pick up Erick from work for me so I didn't have to go out in it again.
Oh and I am happy to say that the trip to Chicago is still on, and may even be 9-10 Days, so Jodi, I may be PMing you to see if you're up for a PPer Meet in The Windy City! Erick has still told me to go through with going out there. I have a lot of very excited Aunts and Grandparents too that we'll be out there.
And.......my mom suggested something else to me tonight when I talked to her, since I did mention to Erick that we should head to Florida if not next Christmas, but the following Christmas, all 3 of us, to spend it with my mom. My mom suggested a Day Trip to WDW! I know Erick & I have that to discuss, but I loved her idea so much. Even 1 Day at MK with the Christmas Decorations whether or not we make it for MVMCP will make me a very happy girl. I had to share that bit of excitement. I tried posting a Christmas Card that I made on Smilebox with some of my favorite pictures from WDW for you all and the internet wants to act a little slow tonight, so I appologize that it's not on here. Hopefully I can get it up so hopefully those pictures can tie everyone over until I can get back to my normally scheduled TR Posting!
Hope everything works out for you to take your trip to Chicago. It sounds wonderful and I know you are looking forward to going!!! Peter talks about us maybe taking Nathan to Chicago (his dream!) his senior year. Maybe!
Becki I fell SO behind in keeping up with you. Continued for you, Skyler, and the rest of your family!
I hope you get to go to Chicago and even a day trip to MK next Christmas!
Thanks so much everyone. I am very excited about Easter in Chicago. My Aunt who is hosting the Family's Easter Day Dinner has offered to let Skyler & I stay with her and my Grandma has offered to let my mom stay with her(they both live in the same building only 2 floors apart), so it will make Easter Day easy for me with Skyler. Now that we have a place to stay, it's just booking a car an hotel rooms for 1 Night going and 1 home.
I almost have finished my Christmas Shopping. A new leash for DSil's puppy, and Erick's pants will wait until after Christmas as his size pants & jeans I can't find anywhere. At least there are 2 other presents under the tree for him
to open. Skyler wanted to help me wrap presents today(luckily not unwrap them). Pretty much all I have yet to wrap are a few for Skyler and one for the 3 of us. Skyler's Gifts this year are mainly fun days out of the house with Erick & I, and if we don't make it to the Shedd Aquarium when in Chicago with my cousins, that is one of them for he & I to enjoy together on our trip.
Thanks everyone. I hope we do get to make it to Disney for a Day on our Christmas Trip to Florida when we go down. I think what may make that Christmas more complete for my mom is having my DSis, DBil, & and DTwinN's there too(which I'm working on that). I know it's a lot for them to travel with 2 kids and 2 dogs, but it would be nice to spend it with them too.
I hope everyone is enjoying your Holiday season. I feel like I have so much to get done since the day after Christmas we have a Girls Night Out Planned for DMil, both DSil's & I since one of them won't be here for DSil's Baby Shower, and, A Baby Shower to help get everythig together and Co-host, and of course NYE, & Erick's Birthday, oh and appointments for Skyler. A lot in the next few
weeks.
Hope everything works out for you to take your trip to Chicago. It sounds wonderful and I know you are looking forward to going!!! Peter talks about us maybe taking Nathan to Chicago (his dream!) his senior year. Maybe!
Thank you so much Susan. Nathan will love Chicago. You all will. I have so many fond memories out there visiting family and taking many trips with my mom helping her and my Grandmother take care of my late-Grandfather before he passed away. I know a lot of people love visiting Florida, but Chicago is certainly my favorite City. A trip out there is perfect for any Bears Fan! I know they've improved Soldier's Field a lot since the last time I was there when I was 7, but that stadium is amazing.
Thank you so much Cheryl & Jessica. We had a wonderful Christmas and some gifts are yet to come. Santa has even granted me my one and only Christmas Wish wish was a Date Night with Erick. Grand I really need a little time to ourselves and with my trip to Florida last year, I think Erick spent way too much on my gift, so I tried to go easy on him this year with my presents. Erick didn't get one of our gifts from Santa even with the note attached to it. Santa brought us each a pocket sized video camera(what can I say I loved my mom's Flip Video Camera on our trip, but our's aren't the Flip ones) so we could use it for even more cherished family memories. I have cute videos of Skyler from Christmas Day on it saying "I did it, I did it" after hitting the ball off of his new Tee-Ball Set, or Pretending to be a WWE Wrestler. I did however not have it near when we were watching the NewOrleansSaints Game and they replayed funniest moments in the football season and a Reforee couldn't remember what he wasdoing(Skyler was copying him). I kind of hada theme with Erick's, Skyler's, & my gifts this year, togetherness & cherished memories, since a lot of Skyler's gifts we will enjoy out of the house as a family. He just won't know whatever we're going or when.
Oh and I may be banished to Chicago or Florida sooner than expected too if the Chicago Bears have to play the New Orleans Saints in The Playoffs. Honestly I will e rooting for them both and won't hold a grudge I'd the Saints beat the Bears (however I know Erick's parents won't let me live down the Bears Beating them). I'll be happy either way. Oh well if it is the case, I'll be in Florida rooting on the Bears with my Mommy. Skyler will be in Virginia with the rest of the Fam.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanza this year. I can't believe 2011 is almost here. That just means Skyler's MRI is right around the corner for me. Happy New Years Everyone!
