We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you so much for the pixies Susan, Cheryl, Marnie, & Jodi, and the hugs too. Today has felt a little easier. I think the whole feeling of being in the room alone with Skyler and the Doctor felt the hardest yesterday. Amongst the many things I am truly Thankkful for this Holiday season is for all of my Wonderful Passporter Friends on here and all of your kind words, Encouragement, Pixies, and Hugs. You all truly are the best. Thank you. At least a plus though when Skyler is in school I will have some time to myself to be able to get my TRs finished (both of them). For all who will be away during Thanksgiving, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I certainly hope as things die down a little bit and once Skyler starts school it will help me find a little bit of time each day to get the Dinosaur Land pictures up and finish up this TR. The only difficult part is Erick is hoping school for Skyler is Full Days not half days so I can work Full Time again, but as I've been informed at his age it's only half days. I know Full Days will make it a challenge to keep Skyler with his Private Speech Therapist whom he needs to continue seeing. I'm so sorry I'm keeping everyone waiting to read more on my TR, but it will be worth the wait. Thanks again for all of your patience.
Becki...you and your family are in my thoughts! I know you can make it through this difficult transition with flying colors. And just know that we are all here to help make you feel better.
Hang in there girl. I think you are doing the best thing, educating yourself about autism. This will better help you understand Skyler and help you find coping strategies. Hopefully now that you have an official diagnosis you may get better results from your insurance company and the schools. I know there are lots of kids on the Autism spectrum and it is not a "death sentence" or even a stigma like it used to be. You will all just need to find new ways of doing things and learning.
Thank you so much Susan, Melissa, & Holly. Since today was Skyler's last Speech Therapy Session (he missed one a couple weeks ago) an his Therapist has given us homework for Skyler. I hope insurance will help give us extensions for him I not us seeking different insurance whhich will be better for him. I thing that is still lingering with Erick and I is knowing the severity of his Autism which we won't know until after the tests are done and after his MRI. Thank you all for your support and reassurance. Holly, thanks for Reassuring me Autism isn't "Life and Death". I know we'll get through it and help Skyler all we can. Educating ourselves on ASD is really the best for Erick and I and knowing how we can adjust our lifestyle to better fit Skyler's needs.
In other news with us we are planning another trip for Skyler, & I and possibly my mom, but not to Disney this time. After realizing how time is precious and all 3 of my remaining Grandparents (both Biological Grandmas and Step-Papa) aren't all in the best of health and getting up there in age, we're trying to make a long weekend trip to Chicago so we can see them. I know my sister has had the same theory as her twins haven't met their Great Grandparents yet and so they're out there now for Thanksgiving. We're planning for Easter time where hopefully it will be warmer out there. Since we have a lot of family out there it will be nice to visit with everyone again, since I haven't seen them in a couple of years. I figured I would ask my mom to come with since it would give er a good excuse to see her mom, Sisters, and the rest of the family too, and I think Skyler would enjoy being around my 2 baby 2nd Cousins who will be 1 & 2 by then. I think I also need a Cousins Day out with 3 of my older cousins and their spouses, and their baby boys as well(the two aforementioned) and let the 3 boys enjoy a day at the Zoo or Aquarium together. I don't even think I remember the last time I visited either of the Brookfield Zoo or Shedd Aquarium. That long I guess since I was a little girl then. I know my mom thought it was a cute idea. I'm still working out the details, and finding a MiniVan to rent for a Week a hotel at the Half Point, which from us to Chicago is Akron, OH, for one way going and one way back, and which relative to stay with once we're there, besides splitting our time between my Mom's Family & Dad's Family so we can visit everyone while we're there. It will be a Visiting Family Trip rather than a vacation, but I know my Grandparents will appreciate it the most especially seeing Skyler again. Ihope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving with your families and friends! Thanks for bearing with me on this TR.
Oh how nice! Anytime you can get away is always fun. I'm sorta planning vacations now too.
Evan, Me and my mom are heading to England in February to visit my sister. I haven’t been over there since 2003 and she was last stateside in 2007 when Evan was just 1. He is very excited to be going on a big airplane.
I'm also looking for a minivan, but not for England, for Disney for next November. Last time we went to Disney we got a really great rate on a minivan when we booked way in advance so I'm checking things now. I have to work on Friday and I predict it will be a slow day so I'm hoping to confirm something. So far I've found $600.00 for a 12 day rental - not bad at all.
