A seed was planted and here’s what grew....Magical Memories - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All caught up - sounds like a really fun day at TL. When I went, I wanted to swim wayyyy out to where the waves come from, but I underestimated the distance and ran out of steam halfway there, where the waves are still coming pretty high. My own stupidity, I guess. I like TL more than BB, personally.
Akershus sounds really good! I want to try eating there one day. I like venison as steak, but I'm not sure how I'd like the sausage. I love jerky (beef, buffalo, venison, etc.) but once I tried rabbit jerky and it was the grossest thing ever.
Hope everything goes/went well with the stress test!

Darlene. I hope Lenny's Stress Test goes well. Tons of pixies. Wheneveryou're able to update, I'll be patiently waiting.
You're absolutely right about taking things like TL & BB for Granted when they're in your own backyard. Sadly for us, we've only had a few week longtrips to Disney and only once did we visit a Water Park(Wet 'n Wild per my sister's request). Since we were only a 2 1/2 hour drive awaymost ofthem were really just day trips, maybea few long weekend trips when we were young enough to take a day or two off school and it not matter since it was Kindergarten (or Preschool for my sister). I still fortunate though that I gotto visit Disney multiple times as a young one, Water Parks or not and still love it now. Skyler's only 37" tall, so Even with a life jacket, I would worry about him flying off of a slide, or get trampled on by the big kids. Thanks I hope he becomes a little fish in the water. We did try swim lessons this summer for him and he wanted to use me as his kickboard. The Disney Water Parks will however be must on a future trip though. I'm glad to hear it was a great day for you. It surely is sounding like this trip had to be quite a magical one for you, Lenny, & Abby.

Just finished what's posted. Your trip is going really well.
Hope Lenny gets through the testing with no problems. Come back and add when you can. I'm looking forward to it.
Thank you everyone for the Pixies. Lenny came home and said everything went fine but until we hear from the doctor (supposedly this afternoon) we don't know anything. Of course we get nervous anyway with it. This time it was worse for me because he has been having some chest "discomfort" as the doctor calls it and just the thought of purposely trying to bring that on scares me so I 100% agree with this comment

Thanks. Abby is one to go, go, go so for her and I it's very easy to go all day. Lenny has a little bit more trouble but he's either getting used to it or he's catching some zzz's that I haven't caught. That's fine though - I've done it myself.

It really was fun and it was surprising how easy it was to lose track of the time. I give you a lot of credit for wanting to swim way out there but I'm not a strong swimmer at all so going even waist deep for me is tough.
Akershus is good - if it wasn't, we wouldn't have eaten there last year OR this year. Eating rabbit - no thanks. But I also have a pet bunny too so just the thought makes me . Lenny liked the venison. For me, I know venison is a dark meat to begin with but it just didn't look right because of that and then it just had such an odd taste to it. The texture was pure sausage though so I guess that's something

Thanks Becki. Safety above all else. When the time is right you'll take him. From our two days at the water parks, the one bit of advice I can give though is just keep a really watchful eye out in the wave pools - no matter the age. Lenny said at TL when the first wave hit once he and Abby were in the water, 2 young kids both butted heads with him. While he was fine, it did make him more watchful of Abby to make sure it didn't happen to her. As for the rest of the parks, I didn't notice anyone fooling around or doing things that might put someone else at risk for injury so I don't think you have to worry about Skylar being trampled. Flying off a slide, that's a different story as I have visions of Abby doing the same thing. We went to the carnival a few years ago and she did one of those super slides and instead of staying on the slide the whole time, she hit one of the bumps just right that she went straight forward, then straight down and the force from the impact flattened her on the slide and she whacked her head - badly. I am so thankful that nothing happened from it (I now have visions that it could have turned out like Natasha Richardson from the whack on the head) but it still scares me enough that I don't want her on any slides like that. I let her do the "kiddie" slides at BB on the tube as it wasn't that long and she didn't gain that much speed and the one at TL was pretty much a straight shot down and she was able to remain seated the whole time.

Thanks, we did. I don't let rain slow me down. As long as things are open, I'll keep going. Lenny will too - it's just Abby that it bothered.
