A seed was planted and here’s what grew....Magical Memories - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm all caught up again. It sounds like you had another fun day. I agree about the wave pool at TL. Everytime I've gone it it, I've been knocked over. Glad Abby had a good time there anyway.
Liz
Another fantastic day Darlene. Glad to hear your lunch at Akersus(spelling) was great, and there were offerings available even with your intollerances. The pictires from your lunch of Abby & the Princesses are priceless. Glad you had fun at TL. Sorry to hear you & Abby got knocked over by the waves. Believe it or not even with groeing up in Florida, I still haven't visited BB or TL yet. That will have to change though once Skyler is a little older and better swimmer, and tall enough for the slides. The pictures of the 3 of you in the Lazy River & Wave Pool are great too. I'm sorry to hear Lenny still wasn't feeling well, but what a trooper. I bet the water park had to make you tired, yet relaxed hopefully early. Looking foward to your next update, whenever you're up to it!
Another great day! Glad you had at great time at Akershus and at TL! Love the pictures!
Thanks Marnie

Thank you. It was a good meal and this is definitely a meal we'll do again.

She did - until that wave took her out. We did stay and go back to the lazy river but Abby says she likes the BB wave pool a lot more. And I don't blame you for standing back. I should have as I knew what was going to happen but as the commercial from a few years ago said "we all do dumb things"

Thanks. Lenny was feeling better from the day before but the waves were what did him in. Once we got out of the wave pool he did start to feel a little bit better and then when we got some of the blue Powerade into him, that helped even more. Lenny doesn't like any of those "ades", he says they taste like flavored sweat but he drank it on vacation because he said it really did help him start to feel better within a few minutes of having it.

I absolutely love the picture of Abby with Cinderella! The smile on her face is priceless. She looks like she liked the other princesses also but that one was the best.
Sorry you got knocked down at the wave pool as did Abby. Hopefully she was not to scared by it and will be willing to go again. The lazy river looks awesome! That is about my speed .
Again you had some great pictures. Looking forward to more.
Thanks Olive - I suppose if a long weekends gotta end, it's best to end it on a bright note. Abby loves all the Princesses but it seems whichever one she sees that gives her the best interaction is the one she loves most for the trips. This year because of CRT it was obvioulsy Cinderella. At TL, as I said above, I think that last wave did scare Abby as she has since said she likes the wave pool at BB much better but it's a wave pool and that can happen. The lazy river is my speed too. Now if only they'd let things in like those noodle chairs I'd be all set. I'm not comfortable ON the tubes and prefer the noddle chairs to float around on.

You're right about that. Sometimes how early you turn in can make or break a vacation Grumpy wise. I think this year we had a good mix of early and late nights

Thanks. Going into a wave pool, you're absolutely foolish to believe it won't knock you down. All it takes is one second for something to distract you or to stand the wrong way and down you'll go. I went in knowing it would and could happen and I made sure Lenny and Abby understood that as well. Whether they believed me or not, I don't know but I wasn't going to let my own stupidness (going in the wave pool for a picture) ruin the day. And to make sure Abby didn't let it ruin hers, I made light of it - oops, oh well. I didn't make light of the other wave that took her out but that's mainly because I was more concerned with whether she had gotten hurt. She didn't but I did reiterate to her that's why we have to pay attention in the wave pool. As for turning in early, that was never, ever something we did growing up going to Disney. We were rope drop to closing people so this whole turning in early or having late starts is all new to me. But I can tell you this - part of me likes it. There's another, bigger part that at this time still says "we should be in a park, not at the hotel" but it wasn't too bad this year. Maybe because the parks close so much earlier now then they did on previous vacations. MK was always open, every night until midnight, Epcot always until 9 and DHS once it opened until at least 9 or 10. This year, the MK closed at 10 some nights, Epcot the usual 9. DHS closed at 7 most of the vacation and the AK was open until 7 then it backed down to 6 the second week we were there. So to be at the hotel at 8, there was really no place for us to go that would be worth it for us.
Finally catching up with all the TRs I have missed when we were gone, just read through all 11 pages and what a great start you have had on the trip. Love how the resort was able to get you a more comfortable bed for Lenny so quickly. Love the pictures from the CRT breakfast, and what is even better is that you have been able to eat breakfasts and not feel sick, so glad that the chefs were able to help out on that end.
Abby sure sounds like she is enjoying the water parks, those waves can get pretty crazy but glad that you all made it through. The slides look great over at TL, we had initially planned to go over there for Angel but never made it over to the slides as she just wanted to do what the "big girls" were doing but I have to put that area on my list for next year.
Can't wait to hear more...
Thanks. It wasn't just a great start, the whole thing was great this year. And there wasn't just one thing I can point to. There were so many moments this year - the train, the bed, CRT, the meals I could eat, etc. You'll just have to keep reading though to find out the rest.
Abby says she did enjoy the water parks and wants to go back again but despite several offers for return visits this year, we never did it. Go figure.

I thought that was the one you were referring to but I didn't want to assume. Like I said, when I get the time, I'll post a picture of her on her first Disney trip - talk about looking young. And as for thinking she was me......she's my "mini me" and to the point when I show her pictures of me at Disney at her age, she thinks it's her. It doesn't matter that the backgrounds are different and there are rides she's never even seen, she still thinks it's her.

Thanks so much Chantel for all your comments. It is all the little things and how can you really pick just one to comment on? You can't - or at least I can't. That's part of why my TR is long but why some of my responses are long too - one magic moment leads to another and then another and then another.

I was excited to hear about your early TH ADR too since we are going here in Oct and have never been before. I'm excited about getting in to the park early so we can get on the safari early too. DD is only 18 months but LOVES Donald Duck so I'm excited about the character interaction at TH also.
I also enjoyed all the great pictures. And the pictures at the boneyard were helpful too since I was wondering what it was like. DD might like playing there too. It'll be great place to let her run wild and wear off some energy. I'm looking forward to AK too because of the pace there.
I love hearing about TL and BB and I can't wait until DD is a bit older so we can take her.
Thanks so much for sharing, it makes me even more excited for our trip next month!
Thank you so much for all your comments. I'm glad that my TR is giving you some helpful info and that it's making you excited for your own trip. There's nothing like reading a TR IMO and finding out little details you didn't know that will help add magic to your own trip.

Thanks Wendy. Whether you guys make a lot of comments or just a few, I really am glad you guys are enjoying my TR and possibly thinking of adding new things for your own trips. That too is fun for me, reading other peoples experiences and thinking "that sounds like fun, maybe we should try it too."

Every day was special. The whole trip was really just so fantastic that I can't stop talking about it. I'm glad I have you guys to talk to because mom doesn't want to hear it and the women I work with I talk to as little as possible as they don't care about what I have to say regarding anything. Lenny I can talk to but he's been working a lot lately (no rest for the weary). But thank you again. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Thank you, we did. Definitely try Akershus. Even if all your kids eat are the deli turkey and Salami off the buffet, I really think it should be tried once before people decided against it. Really, the weirdest part of the meal is the names of the food
You guys really know how to pack a lot into one day! We have not been to either one of the water parks yet and I really want to try them after reading your descriptions. It sounds like the lazy river is exactly my cup of tea. I could spend all day on one of those!
Thanks Dora. That's one thing I do try to do - get done what we can but that's the way it was when we grew up going all day long (and when it was only 2 parks). The lazy river is my cup of tea too but it's a little too lazy for the water bugs in the family.

Thanks. I don't know what it is about the room - maybe more the feeling of being home? - that makes it better but I'm glad to know we're not along in liking it

I can't wait to hear more. I love all the pics you post and how detailed your report is.
Thanks. I'm glad you've gotten caught up and are enjoying all of it (pictures, details and more details). I've never heard of a height requirement for the water parks other than for the kid areas and those are maximum heights. Abby is big enough to do everything now so I tend to not pay attention to minimum height requirements..

Thanks Becki. We did enjoy everything and even though they didn't have the note (or if they did and it got ignored) I knew they had the cold bar for me if absolutely nothing else. And I would still go back, with or without my intolerance notation.
I can believe you didn't make it to either of the water parks. I just said to someone recently that it seems like things almost in our backyards get taken for granted until someone else points them out to us. That's probably the same for you - they were there all the time so you probably thought nothing of them. Now you're not there, there's an interest in going KWIM? Again there's a mention of tall enough for a slide. I really didn't realize there was a height requirement - now I'll have to go find it somewhere (you know the old seeing is believing?). Yeah, the water park did make us relaxed and tired and as much as I could say I'd do it again, it's a toss up. Abby says she would go back, Lenny says he wouldn't and I'm on the fence about it. Good luck with Skylar and his swimming. If he's anything like Abby, he'll take to it like a fish to water and you'll be going sooner than you're planning.

Thanks Mel. We were all surprised by how well the vacation went. We expected a good one but we got more than that. And I was kind of dreading the meals but after the first couple, I really relaxed and didn't sweat them so much. For the breakfast meals I was definitely glad that I had it noted.

Okay Jodi, now that you're all caught up, I'm going to post more later tonight (hopefully - I'm going to try my hardest). And thanks.
I'm sorry that I didn't get to the next part today. I tried, I really did but between going to hospital with Lenny (he needed another stress test today and I was morale support), replying to your comments, and then making dinner which seemed to take forever tonight (probably because I was really tired after the hospital and my replies), it's now time to take Abby to bed. I will try for tomorrow but I'm not making a promise. Lenny has the 2nd part of his stress test tomorrow and depending upon how that goes I may or may not be in the right mental state for the effort involved. Thanks for understanding guys.
