I Don’t Wanna Grow Up – 30th Birthday Trip x2, August 7-11, 2010 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Kelly, I am so sorry I didn't mean to hijack your PTR with the mention of Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Our VHS tape we had Mary Poppins on growing up followed Girls Just Want to Have Fun. We watched them religiously until the tape physically broke!
Nothing new with planning. Last night we (Mike, Dylan & I) went to the Cardinals game. Thsi time we were in a luxury box - you know a/c, free food & drinks, etc. It's a nice place to bring Dylan since he can run around and doesn't have to stay in a seat. And what was better was that we won!!! YEAH!! This is the 4th game I've been to this year and so far only had to purchase tickets to one game - how am I getting so lucky?! Maybe I should play the lottery.
Fun, fun, fun......so glad you got to enjoy another ballgame!!!
I'm not a huge sports fan, but living with a house full of men, you learn to adapt!! Peter & Nathan love to go to ballgames....usually to watch the Orioles in Baltimore (I know....they stink!), but their favorite is football. We all 3 will go to see the Carolina Panthers vs Chicago Bears in Oct!!!
It's to your advantage that you love sports.....as you will have a housefull of "men" as well!!!

Just stopping in to say Hi! I remember the stress over the big girl bed. I think they both did just fine. I hope it continues to go well with Dylan.
Sept 23rd will be here before you know it I'm sure!
Hi Ginger! Thanks for stopping by!

Braves?? Who are they? Just kidding!! Have you seen the new Alice yet? Watching it at home - it went by a lot faster than I remember it in the theater.

I do enjoy watching sports, although I'd rather watch a game in person than on tv any day of the week. Soccer is on almost all the time at our house with DH - and that's ok with me as I grew up in a soccer family. We don't watch much football at all - if any, it's college - and usually Texas (Longhorns - that's where Mike went to school). I'll be pk having sports on in the house a lot - besides there are other rooms I can go in if need be too.
51 days to go: Wolfgang Reitherman, long-time Disney animator, retired.
No planning for this trip, but I did send out an e-mail to family about going next year for baby's 1st birthday - since we went for Dylan's it's only fair that this baby gets to go too. Mike, Dylan, baby, & I will be going next year September 17-24 and most likely my parents, Mike's parents, my brother & his new wife will be joining us. I gave them info on the 2 resorts we'd like to stay at (AKL-our home resort) or BLT and whether or not they were going to stay with us if they went. This gives me 4 months before I have to make the initial reservation.
I wish we could decide on a name for baby soon - I called Dylan, Dylan from the moment we knew we were having a boy; it's so much harder this time around. We narrowed it down to Derek or Anderson, and I'm still thinking maybe Lukas. Decisions! Decisions!!

I like Lucas, but then again, I also like Derek. I understand the whole name thing. From the moment I got pregnant, I knew if it were a boy, his name would be Ashton...no question. But for some reason I couldn't decide on a girl's name, and even when we came across the name Hope in the baby name book, and we both knew how much meaning that name had for us, I still said I wanted to go through the entire book just in case.
The name has to be special because that is what they will be living with for the rest of their lives. So take your time, it will come to you when you least expect it.
First - Congrats on baby boy 2 arriving soon. Name advice - if you don't mind- try yelling both Dylan and prospective name. make sure they don't tongue tie you. Think how many times you may need to call them to dinner or to come in from outside. My name vote is Devyn.
Second- Happy b-day to you and Hubby glad you get adult time to celebrate it. and 30 is fun when you have a few Little ones.
Third- the shirt is cute and funny don't stress.
Forth- Go Red Soxs (OK I really only watch the Pats football)
And finally I love the facts.
Just make sure the first, middle and last names flow nicely when you yell them LOL Like Jason Fredrick Steinfeld!!! Who flused that GI Joe down the toilet!!?? Then you know it's right.
Good luck with the decisions--I would vote against having 2 D names . . . Its certainly up to you, but I'm violently against "theme names" I have cousins who are Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Paul and a friend who named her girls Savannah and Brooklynn!
I said Devyn because that's my little mans name and he is sweet and cuddly. We call him triple D (Dare devil Devyn, after 2 girls the lack of fear was a surprise even tho I was a y/o teacher) and bubba (because that's how Becky said baby for a while)
You now have 2 votes for a name that can roll out easy.

Last time I had a girl and boy name picked out so either way I was prepared. This time we had a girl name (which changed from the original one I had picked when pregnant with Dylan) so of course it had to be a boy now.

The middle name will be Michael (after DH) no matter what and I think all the names we've picked go rather well with that middle name.

Someone else said no to the 2 'D' names too, but I think that's Mike's favorite name right now and the reason I like it more is because it's not so popular. I hear you on the 'theme' names, but we didn't set out to find another 'D' name - it's just happened to be a top 3.
Every time I ask Dylan between Derek or Andy (Anderson) he picks Andy, so that may be what we go with. Although if you don't give him a choice he says his baby brother's name should be Percy (from Thomas the Train).
Thanks Heather! Yes we wanted Dylan to feel like he was part of it. His daycare director said that her kids all picked their other kid's names and they still feel special about naming their sibling. So Mike & I came up with name we liked then narrowed it down (basically with the other one of us nixing the other's likes) and let Dylan choose between the top 2.
That's not much of a game! I mean you know who's going to win when you go to see the Orioles play!
Not necessarily true. They beat the Red Sox quite a few tines this season already and swept them once. Even beat The Yankees too .Ok, yes the O's aren't great, they can still beat some teams ahead in the Wild Card Race in their division. Sorry again Kelly, not trying to hijack again.
