As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Interesting about the Agrabah Cafe - we were thinking of going there, but opted not to in the end - sounds like it could've been a good decision.
Sorry you don't feel many people are reading this trip report. Unfortunately, this is what sometimes happens in the "less popular" forums. I've noticed a lot less people, for example, read my trip reports in the Globetrotting forum, as opposed to the WDW forum. Sadly, this is one that a lot of people haven't discovered yet, but I can tell you that, with very few trip reports from Disneyland Paris, this will be invaluable to anyone planning a trip there - and indeed around Europe - so please don't feel that your work has been wasted, as it certainly hasn't.
As an aside, it may be worth signposting people here, perhaps from the Globetrotting forum or even the Sunroom, just giving them a heads-up that the report is done, if they want to read about and just running through the places you saw. I know a lot of people would love to read about all the places you visted.

Thank you for posting your trip report, Anne! I agree with Cheryl 100%, there aren't many trip reports for Disneyland Paris so it's great to have yours here
I'm sorry you had mixed feelings about DLP. The one thing I noticed is that you didn't feel as comfortable being a solo traveler at DLP than you would at WDW. I think that may be due to the fact that solo traveling isn't as popular in Europe as it is in the States, so seeing someone by themselves at DLP just isn't as common.
Also, you may have had bad luck with all the Italian guests around. I know that the crowds can make or break your experience at DLP! Europe is made up of so many different cultures, and they all have different ways of handling things.
The reason why the parks were so incredibly crowded during your stay is that June 3rd was Corpus Christi, which is a national holiday in some European countries (and there's often no school on the Friday after so that a long weekend at DLP is possible). Also, in some countries, schools are on break around this time of year.

Thanks so much Cheryl that you appreciate my report. i don't know about the Globetrotting forum or Sunroom, so i am not too sure what you are talking about

Again, thanks a bunch for your trip report!
thanks so much Sabine for your comment as well. yea i guess i just didn't have a bad experience, although i did meet a couple of really nice italian families, some of them that i encountered in the parks were very pushy. again it all depends like you say
Thanks so much Cheryl that you appreciate my report. i don't know about the Globetrotting forum or Sunroom, so i am not too sure what you are talking about
but now that i already wrote my trip report in DLP, how can i enter my trip report in these without having to re-write it
You can just start a new thread in those forums saying "hey - I went to DLP and Europe. Come read about my 2 week adventure. The link is in my signature" or something like that.

Great trip, Anne! You really moved alot but saw and experienced quite a bit. Thanks for sharing all of it. Besides all your beautiful photos and descriptions, i was interested in your menu each day. Sorry that you didn't like the food in Italy but everything else sounded good. I love all the foodie souviners that you brought home. Definitely doing that on my next trip. Too bad about the few mishaps with the sick guy and your fall. I'm glad that you didn't let it mar your trip. Sounds like it was a wonderful trip that you will remember for along time. for taking us along.

Spot on - that's exactly what I was thinking when I first suggested it.
Great trip Anne. I read it from the beginning but haven't said anything. I went to DLP in 2004 so it was neat to hear about how you felt about the park. Sounds like you had a nice time in Europe as well. Thanks for the report and the pictures. I enjoyed reading about your adventures.

Thanks Lorie. sometimes during a trip there are one or two mishaps, but overall the trip is always worth it and wonderful. it's like life, we have mishaps that happens, but we have to look at the overall and all the positive things in our life

Anne - Just had a chance to catch up and ended up reading the entire report. What a wonderful tour of Europe, your pictures were amazing and what a great group of travel mates. The people on the tour looked like they were great fun to tour with. You really covered a lot of places on the tour, I have to say the pictures of Switzerland were amazing, I could definitely dream about living there, I would not mind waking up to the at view each morning
Sorry that you did not have such a great experience at DLP, It really did not sound very fun with the rude guests and that not so great food. Gld you got to experience it, but there was definitely a difference in your report from the tour portion to your time at DLP.
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us, I loves your WDW report and this was great as well, loved seeing the pictures from Europe (definitely on my wish list but until then I live vicariously through other peoples reports )
