As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

the bus left at 10:50 heading to Gruyere where we will have 1 1/2 hour for lunch, then we will head to Geneva, where we will have 1 1/2 hour for shopping then we will head to the French border then to our hotel where we should arrive at 7. so on the bus we pay for our excursions, while on the way to Gruyere. then i read and slept on the bus. We stopped at Gruyere at 12:20 for lunch. i ate at a restaurant there with the chinese girls, there were also other people from our group, there were a few choices of restaurants so we just checked the menus, the specialty is cheese. Gruyere cheese, yummy.

At the restaurant at Gruyere: i had for lunch Gruyere quiche (the best quiche i've ever had, here the quiche taste like eggs, this one was full of cheese yummy) i also had an orangina
we got back on the bus at 2 heading to Geneva (2 to 2 1/2 hour drive) where we will have 1 1/2 hour stop. We drove into Geneva at 3:20, city on the lake, we drive by the Palace of nations, headquarters of Unicef, monument of the massive chair, United Nations building (massive fences all around with flags from every nation). There is 180,000 people in Geneva, rive gauche all tourists' sites, on the banks of Lac Leman, 30 museums, galleries, theatres, opera house, very cultural city. At 3:30 we do a 5 mins photo stop at United Nations.

We got back on the bus at 3:40 and drove around Geneva, see the water geysors (jet d'eau on the lake). we stopped at 3:45. we walked to the meeting point, then we had free time to shop. i went with the chinese girls to look around at shops. now Switzerland is not part of the European Union so they don't use Euros but Swiss Francs, so i wanted to use up my Swiss Francs, as we were heading to France after this stop, so i bought 3 Swiss chocolate bars to bring home. We were meeting at the meeting point at 5:20 then we walked to the bus and got on the bus at 5:40
We left heading toward the French border, then to our hotel Mercure in Annemasse, France. We went through the French border at 6:05. We arrived at our hotel at 6:55. brought stuff to my room. then at 7:15, i went to 3 people from my group (one of the chinese girl and a mother and daughter from Boston) to the City Centre, we walked to a restaurant. we first asked at the hotel what was the best restaurant and they told us and gave us a map on how to walk there. it was about a 40 minutes walk. i had for dinner 1 slice dark bread, chicken, noodles, vegetables, sauce (they put sauce on everything in Europe). at 9 o'clock, we walked back to the hotel. we arrived at the hotel at 9:35. i went to my room, watched a bit of TV and went to bed at 10:30
i got up at 5:30, showered, went for breakfast at 6am (OJ, 2 cafe au lait, bun, 2 slice ham, 2 slices of cheese, 1 croissant, jam) then went back to my room at 6:35. the bus left at 7:20 heading to Paris where we should arrive at 4 - 4:30, then heading to our hotel at 7 to dress up for the optional cabaret. We left the beautiful Alps behind. the Republic of France, the French motto is liberty, equality, fraternity, 65 million people, largest country in the European Union and second largest in Europe. the monarchy ruled France until 1789, the French revolution, where Louis XVI, French King and his wife Marie Antoinette were in power, the people were very poor and the King very rich. he was executed in 1793 and Marie Antoinette was imprisoned, Napoleon Bonaparte took over in 1789. He got defeated in the battle of Waterloo by the English in 1850. the French President now Nicolas Sarcoszy and his wife Carla Bruni, ex-model. After he got elected, he left his wife for this model. He is very popular in France. The country is divided in 26 regions. Paris in the region of Ile de France. we have Claude Monet, painter, Jeanne D'arc in 1412, Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, wine (we will be stopping in Beaune, center of burgundy wine), cheese, french cuisine, snails, a lot of garlic. French people are very proud to be French and they have all the reasons to be proud, they have a beautiful country. They are very happy where they are, when they travel, they complain about other countries, the food, etc. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. at 9:45 we stop for a comfort stop for 10 mins. then head to Beaune. We stop at Beaune at 10, we walk to the city centre - market where we have some free time. i walk around the market with the chinese girls, we buy Dijon mustard, as they are famous for it, i buy a package of 4 containers of assorted Dijon mustard to bring home. we buy something to eat (1/2 pizza baguette, raspberry macaron pastry and raspberries) very yummy

the bus left at 11:45, then we stopped for lunch along the highway to Paris (we ate at Beaune because we didn't know that we would be stopping for lunch, but our tour guide said that we wouldn't have time to eat supper, so we decided to eat a second lunch) we stopped at 1:15 until 2, it was food court style. I had for my second lunch ham, rice, carrots, sauce, a bottle of citrus Scheppes. we then got back on the bus, i read. we filled out the comments forms. At 3:40 we were coming into Paris in the region of Ile de France, Paris 12 million people, capital of France, city of lights, sets all the trends. we drove on the peripherique that circles Paris, where you can enter the city at different portes. we drove to Paris Centre (Eiffel Tower) where we had our optional excursion of the Seine river cruise. We went on the cruise from 4:30 to 5:30 (1 hour)
after the cruise, they gave us a bottle of Evian water. we then went up the Eiffel Tower (second floor) at 6. it was so cold and windy up there. we took pictures and came back down at 6:20. I bought 10 Eiffel tower keychains to give as souvenirs
