As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

at 12 we got off the boat and walked to the city centre. we had from 12:10 to 2:10 for free time for shopping. i went shopping with the chinese girls, i bought Switzerland black gloves and black scarf and a bag of Swiss chocolates to give out as souvenirs to people at work and my kids. i also bought a small box of cookies and a box of macarons (very popular in France and Switzerland, they are a small meringue cookie and they make them in different flavors) at 2:10 we got back on the bus to drive to the optional excursion to Mount Stanserhorn. At 2:30, we arrived at the funiculaire (on tracks) for a part of the way then we changed to a cable car to go on top of the mountain. There we had lunch (counter service). i had swiss pasta and potato with cheese dish, apple sauce and grape pop. we received a free Stanserhorn baseball cap. it was freezing up there. We took the cable car back down at 4:10, then the funiculaire the rest of the way down.

on top of the mountain, it was pretty cold up there 5 degrees celsius, certainly not as cold as Edmonton where we get minus 40, but still pretty cold when you're not dressed for it
on the way down in the funiculaire with the hat that they gave us
we got back on the bus at 4:30. the funiculaire used to go all the way up the mountain, but a lightning striked and people got hurt so now it only goes partway. Head to our hotel (1/2 hour drive to hotel). we arrived at the hotel at 5. i fixed my things in the room, when walked around with the chinese girls at 5:35. at 6:15 we had included dinner at the hotel (cream of asparagus soup, 1/2 slice of rye bread, chicken, pasta, vegetables, sauce and ice cream), then at 730, take the bus to the optional folklore show with cheese fondue. we drove back to Lucerne. arrived there at 8 o clock. went to the folklore show, it included one drink and cheese fondue (i got a glass of white wine and 2 pieces of bread cheese fondue). we got back on the bus at 10:15, then drove back to the hotel. we arrived at the hotel at 10:50 and i went to bed at 11:05. we stayed at hotel Hirschen. the dinner was extremely salty. i wasn't hungry for the cheese fondue and they didn't give separate forks for dipping in the cheese fondue and eating! we should get a fondue fork and an eating fork when doing a fondue. we only got a fondue fork!
you will have a wonderful trip. even on your own, it will be great. i spent 5 days to DLP by myself and it was great, although after the first day, i ate at buffets instead of table service, which was a bit more comfortable. sometimes you see people look at you when you're eating alone, but i tried to not let it bother me. i had wanted to eat at table service, but i found that buffets were easier when you are by yourself and i didn't want counter service as the choice is quite limited, mostly sandwiches and burgers. Which hotel are you staying? i stayed at the Thomas Cook and really liked it. it has a 5 mins shuttle to DLP from 6am to 11:45 pm that runs every 20 mins.
I got a 50% off rate at the Sequoia for 4 nights at 580 euros. I am debating using my DVc points instead to upgrade to the Disneyland hotel. I am waiting because 1) the reservation is not availble yet thru memeber services and 2) I have my Halloween night ticket on the room ressie I have, and I haven't seen any info on purchasing the ticket seperately yet.
Part of the reason I was considering the change is because it will be cheaper to use the DVc points and be forced to by the park tickets (which I don't need) than to have the room at SL, even at 50% off rack rate. Although my dad sent me a reminder that the euro vs. dollar is dropping, so it might not cost as much as I thought! Would still like to stay at the DLH, but it would wipe out my DVC points until Oct of next year at least.
Illumination Cruise??? I love how you threw a little bit of Disney at us!!
Breathtaking photos Anne!
Thanks Wendy, but that's what it was called because by the time we got back to the hotel, it was dark and all the lights were on, it had certainly a different feeling than during the day time

The Sequoia is very nice as well, i had dinner there (at the Hunter's Grill) and it is a walking distance to Disney (10 mins.), as i walked there.
Lucerne Lake, Switzerland, we went for a walk close to our hotel before supper. isn't this place gorgeous? wouldn't you want to live there, i feel like i would be so healthy if i lived there, the air is so cleaned, the water so cleaned. what an amazing place and i live in Edmonton, there are so many more beautiful place in the world than here. Switzerland is so gorgeous, i just love that country.
Friday, May 28, 2010 Lucerne, Switzerland - Geneva, Switzerland - Annemasse, France
I got up at 6:15, showered, went for breakfast at 6:50 (OJ, coffee, bowl yogurt, granola, croissant, hard boiled egg, the bus left at 8:10 heading to Interlaken, Switzerland (1 1/2 hour drive). We went through the Brunic pass, then we had one hour to Interlaken, then we will be going to Gruyere where we will have lunch. Then we will drive to Geneva for free time then we will drive to our hotel which will be aross the border in France where we will arrive at around 7pm. So at 9am we had a 5 mins photo stop at the Brunic pass (another hour or so to Interlaken).
Photostop at Brunic Pass with this really nice Chinese lady and her really nice son and this really nice lady from South Dakota. i hung around with them a lot. we had really nice people in our group. look at how beautiful Switzerland is, isn't it breathtaking God's beautiful gorgeous nature.
We got back on the bus and left for Interlaken. We arrived at Interlaken at 935. We walked around, checked shops with the chinese girls, we bought a pastry in the pastry shop and we ate it before getting on the bus, i had a strawberry mousse cake.
Interlaken, again look at how beautiful the scenery
