As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

it has been a few days and no one has responded to the question...are there any answers out there or is the jury still out? i think i found another thread with a few posts on it, but there was no definitive answer there either. maybe i am missing the thread with the answers???? can someone help me out here?
As far as I know there are no plans for Mousefest this year. The committee still owns the name, but the web site doesn't have any new information on it. I also haven't heard of any plans for an official PassPorter gathering this year. As you know (since you're at WDW meeting other PassPorters more than anyone else I know ) there are meets set up by individuals frequently. That's how I met my first PassPorters back in 2006.

Sorry I didn't answer you earlier - I was waiting to see if there was any official word - but there hasn't been. As of now, there is no official gathering planned, and as Lesley explained, Mousefest is now operating "seasonally" as Disney would say. I haven't seen or heard of anybody reactivating the multi-group stuff.
There are usually small or large groups of Passporters arranging a meet or two in any month. Just watch to see in The Backyard. I'm sure there will be some in both October and December.
If you already have a specific date in mind - why don't you post it? Then people who plan to be there can meet up with you.
I do miss the special Mousefest themed gatherings as well - although a PassPorter only gathering is just as special - I'll never forget meeting up with so many friends at the Decade of Dreams.
Thanks, Les, Marie and Sara! I am saddened to think there is no more mousefest ever, but i must admit, the passporter gatherings are SO much better! so, i guess we will all be on our own. i am interested in the reunion 2010, so i am grateful for the link, Sara...thanks, friends!
As I've posted in another thread "December 2010? Just Asking" -- I'm looking into the Reunion2010 events December 1-5. But I would much prefer meeting up with PassPorters like myself! I don't really want to start posting to another discussion board -- I love the PP board and have enjoyed meeting PPs several times at WDW now.
That said, I'm considering December 1-5 and will be traveling solo. Anyone interested in scheduling a few unofficial PP meets during that time, realizing we can also hook up with the Reunion2010 people???
I'm still just askin' -- but I really, really want to go down for the December festivities. (And since the national weather service is predicting a worse-than-usual hurricane season, while I still plan to be at WDW in early October, I'm not holding my breath. December seems like it could be more definitely counted on, right?)
It's still a no go for me. Just thought I'd let you know that the "Reunion" is hosted by "WDW Today" podcast. Their 20-30 min. podcast comes up out three times a week. They don't have a message board. The only time we interact is during the end of the month live podcast with a live chat room. There are people from PP, Dis, Tagrel, AllEars, and more chatting away. Some of the big names from previous MF will be involved or have something planned for that Reunion Weekend.
I believe that MouseFan Travel is also a sponsor of this weekend event. There are probably extra perks for booking thru them. If it was the next weekend, I'd be there.
Good luck and happy planning!

I haven't heard anything yet about any kind of official December Gathering, but Jenn and Dave are always busy this time of year with their guidebooks before they go to print.

I am attending Reunion. There are already a few events planned. It will have no where the number of Mousefest meets, but last year several other groups added meets during that time. Last year Allears had meets, Lou Mongello had some scheduled, but had to cancel, and I think there were some others. I really love Disey in December and this gives me a chance to see some of the people I have met over the years at Mousefest, Magic Meets and otehr Disney events.
I'm not sure that we'll see Mousefest return in the same form, it looks like different travel agencies are planning meets, but that is kind of suspiciously like self promotion to increase bookings.
Eventually I imagine some enterprising person will get ambitious enough to plan another large multigroup gathering--but it might be awhile
My understanding is that MouseFest is looking for a Chairman to oversee the event at large. But it's a huge responsibility and requires more time than most people have to give. Hopefully, someone will be able to take it on in the coming years...or maybe MouseFest itself will scale back to a point where it's easier for someone to step up to manage it all.
MouseFest is the monster that grew so large, it consumed itself.

I don't think they are looking at all to revive it as there have been extremely qualified people who have volunteered already with no return interest from the organization.
well in any event, i am glad some people are planning some meets on their own...i will miss the mousefestivities, but maybe something better is coming along!
