Finally a trip to Disney (May 5-14 2010) TR - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well I am currently at the airport waiting to go home I will get into all the details soon.. I have to go through the hundreds of photos I took I need to also get a moderator to change the title to TR instead of PTR...
I am now home and unpacked while and photos are downloaded to the computer. As I do my trip report I will be going through my photos to pick out ones that highlight our trip & our adventures. It finally happened I went on my trip to WDW and am ready to go backJ.
DISCLAIMER:
I did take food photos however many times we had already started to eat them and so they are not perfect lol although by the end I was doing much better in remembering to take those photos.
May 4- Pre trip prep:
On Sunday I bought myself a new coach carry on bag. It is of a nice wipe able material so it is easily cleaned. I was so excited there were all different compartments to separate everything with different compartments to put stuff in.
I got out of work on Tuesday at around 2:30 so that I could get my hair and nails done. It is always my pre trip pampering I find it so much easier to travel with my straight hair and so much more manageable than my curly hair. There are a few pictures where everyone will see it straight in my TR.
I got home and Bill and I decided we are going to eat out before we leave the next day so off we went now mind you nothing is packed yet at this point and we need to leave my house in about 11 hours… You can say we left some stuff behind. Stay tuned to find out what was left behind.
Dinner was great it was at a restaurant the Corner Pug in West Hartford, CT and I didn’t take any food photos here. It was great we had Irish Nachos and each the 1lb prime rib dinner it was yummy. (Although I did not eat it all so my mom got to eat the leftovers). We did not have dessert knowing we would get all the sweets we would ever want to consume starting on Wednesday.
May 5-Arrival in the world
The alarm finally went off at 4am Wednesday morning and I thought it would never happen I kept tossing and turning and trying to sleep that it was a relief to finally be up J Bill got up showered and I dressed and was sitting there waiting to leave for about 20 min. I shower at night so that I can lie in bed till the last possible minute but my excitement was running high and sleep eluded me.
It took us 35min to get to the parking place and we were off to the airport arriving around 6am for our 7:40 flight. We got to enjoy a yummy McDonald’s breakfast it is the only time I eat there and that is only when I am traveling so I had an Egg McMuffin, hash brown, and a small OJ, Bill had two sausage and egg on a biscuit, hash brown, and a coffee making the total 15.55.
We paid for early bird check in and we were A25/26 woo hoo. Now when it was time to line up there was no one in the first 15 spots and families with children so when we got on we got the emergency exit row seats the ones with lots of leg room J it was an awesome flight because no one sat in the third seat so we had a whole row to ourselves this hasn’t happened in a really long time so we enjoyed it. The flight was smooth sailing with us arriving on time at 10:40 and getting to the hotel around 11:30. Here is a picture from our airplane window.
Bill was hungry and ready for a snack and he made the mistake of ordering a double cheeseburger at the MCO Mcdonalds and they were really slow took about 10 min and on top of that they messed up his order by giving him 2 Cheeseburgers instead. He ate them but didn’t enjoy them as much as he would of if he got what he had ordered. It was too much bread for him… The only good thing is by the time we got to the luggage carousel our luggage was coming around.
We then headed to DME which seemed so far and we were so ready to get to our room so off we were on DME it was about a 15 min wait for the bus to arrive so on we loaded and off we went on our way to WDW. We had a slight adventure when DME was trying to leave the parking lot the arm wouldn’t stay up and would go down as the driver had to slam on his breaks to avoid running it through shattering it. It was comical if you ask me.
We had the DME bus advertising Philharmagic. It was pretty cool to have a different DME bus.
We had done online check in and guess what our room was ready… We were in Barbados 1st floor room 1329. It was a great room and we loved the location it was close enough (about 5 min to the food court, right across the street from check in, and 1min from the bus stop but was far enough from all the activity to give us some privacy. Here are a few pictures of our room.
This was great our room was ready and we really just wanted to put our stuff down and go grab some lunch.
We decided to do DTD for lunch seeing as how there are some choices there and I didn’t make any reservations for lunch not knowing what time we were arriving. So off we went arriving at DTD for 1pm. We lucked out it was the first bus to come by. We went to Wolf Gang Express Café and at this restaurant the server kept our card throughout the whole meal and we couldn’t leave the tip on the KTTWC unless she charged us a small amount like a penny or something so we decided to leave the tip in cash.
Bill had the Calamari for his app;
the sushi for lunch which he said was really fresh (he did offer to share)
and the chocolate cake which he thoroughly enjoyed.
I had the spring rolls (we did share each others app),
Cobb salad,
and the Carrot Cake.
We really liked this meal

Service here was a little slow we ran out of water and we could hear our waitress talking in the back for awhile never coming to see if we needed anything or filling our water glass. We needed soy sauce and we had to ask another server for it after about 10 minutes. We needed soy sauce with our sushi.
As our trip went on we realized that this was not the greatest meals and we would have rated it lower in comparison to many of our meals
We then wandered around DTD taking some photos. We took some car photos at the Model car place, Lego Photos, and some random shots. One car I played with the color accent and came out really well. I used that a lot especially with some of the topiaries in Epcot.
We then went back to the room to unpack some luggage and then it was off to Hollywood Studios did we get to see Fantasmic that was the original plan... find out soon.
