As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. I was trying to pull the rubber back off of my limited edition Disney pin. In my attempt ro remove the back, the post was pulled off. I was wondering if Disney has a warranty (unadvertised of course) for pins and also where can I get the pin repaired.
I'd love to know too - we got a piece of history pin and the bubble that holds the piece of the attraction got stepped on and has a big dent. My son is crushed (and me too!) and I would love to know how to fix it. I looked last trip down and couldn't see it for sale anywhere.
If you are going back at some point, bring it with you and they usually will replace it. Otherwise I might think of taking it to a local Jeweler and they may me able to help you. Less $$ might be to find someone who knows how to use a sautering am I spelling that right iron and they could repair it for you.

A jeweler will have the correct equiptment to fix it correctly.
Did you forget about the solder? SOLDER?
Just any solder will not work. Different materials (and metals) need different solders to bind them together (to stick). And you have to prime (clean) the metals before you can bind them.
Did you know that the most common solder has a acid core in the center of it? A definite No No on jewelry, silver, etc.
Any solder might work for awhile but do you want to chance loosing a favorite pin?

Mere solder probably won't cut it; I'd say the join needs to be brazed.
Possibly, MAYBE, some metal-bonding epoxy - a teeny, tiny dot of it - would work, as an alternative.
But I'd try a jeweler first. Evenif they do technically "solder" it ... the sort of soldering you want for a pin, and the soft-solder generally used for electronics parts, are not the same thing.

I wouldn't count on this unless the pin breaks shortly after you buy it and while you're at WDW or DL.
I don't know, but I'm guessing that a pin break could be considered wear and tear and not necessarily a defect unless it happens fairly soon after purchase.
Also, you'd only be able to get replacements through Disney if the pin is still being sold at the parks or online.
I'd suggest checking the Disney Store online to see if your broken pins are available before trying to get a replacement from Disney.
Personally, I think they need to make the lanyard webbing less sturdy. I've sometimes thought a hammer would be a big help getting the pin to go through that web fabric on some lanyards without breaking off in the process. It's not as if a lanyard has to support as much weight as carryon luggage straps must. My lanyards have straps that are better than some of my luggage has!

My sister had bought me a limited edition Mickey & Minnie pin set for Christmas and when opened a couple of the stones were missing. Another time the "pin" was missing.
Both times the pins were replaced without question and without a receipt.

Understandable since those were clearly manufacturing defects.
I don't know. Maybe Disney simply replaces any pin without question as long as the pin is still current.
I'd bet there's a walloping markup on those things anyway, so replacing one is probably pretty insignficant to Disney, all things considered.
