As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I tend to pack a good 2/3rds of everything. When I go to a crop, it's about 45 min. - 1 hr. from home. I'd love to be more organized & do some pre-planning, but it just never seems to work out.
I tend to bring a bit of everything to crops. I don't usually pre-plan my pages, but I do try to bring papers that would work with what my project is (e.g. Disney papers for a WDW album etc.) I always bring black paper as I use a lot of it for backgrounds and matting photos. I usually bring my Cricut and whatever cartridges I think I might use. I like to bring an idea book or magazine to get me thinking if I get stuck on a page. Of course I bring all the basics like scissors, paper cutter, photo splits, glue stick, pens etc. Always remember your pictures! I have, on occasion, forgotten them at home and it really makes scrapping difficult!
I always bring to much to a crop. I have big ideas to plan the pages I am going to work on and only bring what I need, but it never works out that way, and I don't want to get working on a page and not be able to finish because I don't have what I need, so I overpack.... someday I will be organized enough to only bring what I need....
I try to pack what I might need. I don't plan layouts I let the pictures talk to me. I can sit for an hour and only come up with the paper I want to put the pictures on.
Last year I went to my first crop & took ALOT! Also, my group that I scrapbook with packed alot of paper & supplies, we had a minivan & explorer full of stuff for a weekend away.
This year I am planning on just working on baby books for my 2 boys so I have already started putting paper, stickers, ect that will go with their books a side. I still want to be able to share with the others in my group but I don't want to take everything I own.

I've tried to organize my papers and stickers so I can just take the theme I need.
As for other supplies, it depends. If I go to my friend's to scrap, I know what she has and can plan. But for something like a day at Archivers, I take more. I like MY cutters and punches.
I like to take with me the basics, and just what I'm going to need for the crop. I also like to plan out some of layouts beforehand ie; what paper or embellies I'm going to use. In the past I have taken everything with me, just to have to lug all of it back home when I didn't use it or need it. I found that if I forgot something, either I waited until I got home to finish the layout or I just asked around if someone had what I needed. SB friends are the best!
I scrap alot with my cousin and Daughter in law. We share alot of our supplies but i dont really like asking others if they have this color paper or this particular letter. I don't mind sharing I just don't like taking stuff from others.
I have in the past selected paper and stickers for my photos. However, once I started cropping, I tended to change my mind about the paper! I bring most of my paper with me - all that fits in my large rolling tote. I only bring stickers that I think I will need, so most of them stay at home. I bring my cricut and all my carts. I have a caddy that holds my punches, pens, scissors, etc. that I take as well. I have a smaller rolling tote that holds my flowers, chipboard, ribbon, etc. Yep, I bring a lot! But usually when I got it's for at least 2 days. We have a group of girls that we like to scrap at least one weekend a month. We go to each other's houses or once in a while we go out of town.
I tend to do "theme" scrapbooks, rather than chronological life-books. So I'll plan to work on either of my sons' Scouting books, a vacation book, or my younger son's Taekwondo book (he just made black belt at age 9!). That way, I can just bring the papers & embellishments with those themes, along with my big paper carrier & basics. I do a lot of my journaling & titling on computer, so I always bring a notebook computer & scanner/printer. Now that I know a little about how to use my Cricut, I guess I'll bring that, too.
The women I crop with at a local store all tend to bring lots of stuff, so I feel right at home with them!
I rarely plan pages ahead of time, but the one scrapbook I did that way went very smoothly. I'd rather let inspiration hit me...and honestly, I'm usually running around at the last minute getting things together, forget time to pre-plan!

Most of the crops I go to are 4 hours on a Friday night, and i generally pack light. I do a lot of theme albums, and if I buy something for a particular theme I will slip it in the album pages when I get home. When I'm going on a crop or at home working on pages I can pull out whatever album I feel like working on. I keep a small bag packed with the basics - adhesives, small cutter, black pen, etc.

I am going to a weekend crop next week & this is what I am trying to do right now. I have pulled out all my baby paper, stickers, ect to do baby books for my kids and I am in the process of making a book for my niece with pictures of her from Disney with all the princesses & fairies. I am afraid that I will feel bad if I don't take everything because someone in my group might need something that I didn't bring.
I have a tendency to take it all. However - the way my house is set up....all my scrapping stuff is stored in the same totes etc that I use to go on crops. So it's a matter of loading it into the car and off I go. I also keep all my stamping stuff in the same kind of totes. I find that I will often leave some of it in the car and if I decide I need it I go grab it but otherwise only unload paper, pictures, embellishments, Cricut and other tools.
