Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Thanksgiving sounded wonderful! Your story about Winston needing diet coke made me laugh. I'd forgotten that when my daughters were toddlers I fed them something every 1.5 hours or so. They never ever asked for food and are not big eaters but I realized that when they got cranky they were probably hungry and thirsty. They never even knew why they were cranky but a drink or Mickey bar always put things right.

I love the lego pictures.

Yes, I'm thinking maybe a lot of his cranky spells could have been solved with food or drinks..... too bad you didn't give me this advice pre-trip; lol. Food or drink did snap him out of his melt downs most of the time...... Thanks for reading!

Friday November 27th
Magic Kingdom
We slept a little later than usual today. We woke up at 7am. Breakfast was at the food court again. We went to the food court about 7:20am and it was much busier than the other mornings, probably since it was later. I had French toast w/sausage. Dillon had pancakes w/bacon. Wes had grilled cheese. Austin and Madilyn had grilled cheese w/bacon. You can get a side of bacon, sausage, or a banana instead of a drink, so we did that. My Dad had a muffin. Winston split half of Madilyns food. We used 5 cs credits and 1 snack credit.
On way to bus, I stopped by gift shop and got more camera batteries. ($9.95 for 8pack)
We arrived at MK a few minutes before 9am. Dillon and Madilyn had to use bathroom and I stopped to get double stroller…
Then we spotted the Chipmunks so we made a pit stop. Then as we neared Peter Pan, we spotted the Fairy Godmother, another pitstop…

We made it to Peter Pan about 9:20. It was posted a 20 minute wait, but it was more like 10. Everyone enjoyed the ride. Wes rode w/ dad and Austin. Dillon rode w/ Madilyn. I rode w/ Winston.
Small World: posted 20 min, only 10. Me, Winston, Dillon, Madilyn, and Austin rode together. Dad and Wes went to get BTMRR FP’s. Dad said wait time was listed as 15 min. Our ride time was for 10:30am. Dad and Wes went in search of characters.

Madilyn, Austin, Winston, Dillon, and I headed to the carousel. Madilyn and Austin jumped on a horse. Winston wanted to sit in a seat which was great for me! And Dillon joined us on the seats. We walked right on the carousel. Next: tea cups, posted 5 minutes more like 10 or 15 minutes.

On way to tea cups we spotted Pooh and Tiger w/ a crazy long line and we also spotted Scrooge. I called Wes to let him know about the character spotting. They had already me the Princess and the frog.

While we rode tea cups, the mad hatter came out. Wes was in line for them while we rode. He was near the front of the line when we got off and I let the other kids join him for autographs and pics. Then we headed to see Scrooge. Unfortunately Scrooge took a break and Donald Duck came out to take his place before we made it to the front. This was disappointing especially for Wes, since they had already met Donald and never met Scrooge.

Then we hopped in the very long line for Pooh and Tiger.

My dad waited w/ big kids while I took Winston to get Space Mnt FP’s. The wait time was over an hour and our fp return time was for 7:45pm. YIKES! When we headed back they were still in line for Pooh and Tiger. Winston spotted ice cream and had to have it. I got him dibs ice cream and got the big kids some to eat while in line. Madilyn itzakoozie, Austin dibs, and Dillon strawberry bar. Wes didn’t want anything, said he had popcorn and coke when w/dad earlier. My dad sat watching big kids and I took Winston to Pooh’s Playground right by the line. He had a great time, but wanted me right beside him at all times. I guess without the big kids, his confidence wasn’t so high. They had squirting water fountains that he was dying to play in. I let him put his hands on them, but told him NO wet clothes. He surprised me, and did really well just getting wet hands only.

Another family w/ a small child was doing the same as me and allowing child to touch water but not get fully wet. Unfortunately their child slipped and the water came up and he was SOAKED! I hope they had a change of clothes because it was cold out…

By this time it was about noon, and everyone was ready for lunch. We headed to Pinocchio’s Village Haus. It was busy and it was hard to find a table. My dad and the kids claimed a table and I got in a short line. There were only a few folks in line, but few available tables. This was the first and only place they really enforced the kids ordering from the child menu. This made ordering a little difficult. My dad had the Mediterranean salad. I had the chef’s salad. Madilyn got a chicken nugget plate and split it with Winston. Wes, Austin, and Dillon had chicken nugget/fry plates. I also got kids macaroni plate and split it w/ Austin and Dillon. Dillon had his with apple slices and milk. We had cookies and cheesecake for desserts.
Up next was Hall of Presidents. My dad surprised me and sat this one out for a break. We all went in and enjoyed it. While waiting for the show, there was a guy giving interesting info and answering questions about presidents. We all had a great time. Winston fell asleep during the show. When we came out, I suggested we watch it again so my dad could see it and Winston could get his nap out. All the kids were done. So my dad took the big kids while Winston and I went in for a second showing of the presidents. Unfortunately, we weren’t quite quick enough because the doors were closed and we could not get in. I called my dad and they made a u-turn. I used all our jackets to make Winston a bed in the double stroller.
He stayed asleep and we headed to Toon Town. Goofy’s Barnstormer had a 50minute wait! No thank you! I didn’t want to tour Minnie and Mickey’s house until Winston woke up because I knew he’d like that. So we headed to meet some characters. The princess line was posted at 45 min and the fairies at 75 minutes. The kids were reluctant, but I told them that they had waited over 30 min to see Pooh and Tigger and just weren’t aware of it since the wait time wasn’t posted. So the three boys got in the Princesses line, my dad and Madilyn looked around for a snow globe. I sat on a bench at the exit with the boys in plain view while Winston napped in the stroller. PERFECT. The Princess line moved quickly. The boys were in and out in about 25 minutes

When we walked out, Winston woke up, so we headed into Mickey’s house. There was hardly anyone there.

Minnie’s house was another story; everyone was there.

We waited in a slow moving line, but the kids loved being able to touch everything and sit on Minnie’s furniture. Austin and Winston could have spent all day in Minnie’s kitchen.

Outside there was a photo pass guy taking pics in Minnie’s garden.

Next we headed to Donald’s Boat. No sprinklers were on thankfully. The kids had a great time climbing around for a little while.

We then split up again. My dad and Wes were determined to get Buzz’s autograph. And the rest of us had a few more rides to get in. The plan was to meet back at the hotel. We headed over to the train and took it around to Frontier land. We got off and used or FP’s for BTMRR. Dillon backed out at the last minute, so he walked across and waited at the exit as we boarded. Winston and I rode together and Madilyn and Austin rode together. For reference, I seen people riding three to a seat and it could have easily been done. We wanted to ride Splash. The wait was only 20 min, but we were tired. There were a few other rides I had planned for today (Tom Sawyer Island, Country Bears, and Aladdin Carpets). Austin and Winston were willing to wait, but Madilyn and Dillon were ready to call it a day. I asked Austin and Winston if they wanted to wait in the long lines for Splash and Tom Sawyer or take the bus to the hotel for relaxation. They made a wise choice.
We had a difficult time leaving because the parade was finishing up and the walkways were still blocked off and it was crazy crowded. On the way out we passed an eggroll cart. We used 6 snack credits on 3 egg rolls and 3 sodas. Austin loves egg rolls! I got one for him, me, and Winston. Winston didn’t want his, so Austin had two. Winston cried for a corndog. It was not covered on snack credits and I knew we’d be eating dinner soon, so I stood my ground. He got over it. We finally made it out of the park and onto a waiting movies bus.

When we got back, we went straight to the food court for dinner. I called, but dad and Wes were not ready to eat. I had a double bacon cheeseburger; Winston had a kid’s hot dog. Dillon had a chili cheese dog. Austin had a pizza. Madilyn had a chicken nugget meal to herself that was barely touched. We had cookies, carrot cake, and cheesecake for dessert. We rode the bus to Movies tonight instead of Music (which is what we had been doing). So, this was our first meal at Movies. I like the Music food court much better.
After eating we stopped in the gift shop for Madilyns snow globe.

The whole trip, she’d been eyeing some snow globes at the music gift shop. Unfortunately, movies didn’t have them. I told her we’d go to music later tonight. We didn’t walk out empty handed. I got a cute necklace for my niece w/ her initial and a small Mickey head on it in blue. I also got my brother a Mickey key chain souvenir. Dillon found a world’s greatest dad pin that he wanted to get for his dad and put up for Christmas. (I’m divorced from their dad, but I got it anyway; I know it makes the kids feel good to buy him gifts on Holidays and birthdays; things like that help keep me and their dad on good terms also)

We were soon back at the room where we found out Wes and dad had missed Buzz. When they made it over, Buzz was leaving for an hour break. My dad offered to ride a few rides and then get back in line but Wes chose the hotel with hope of finding Buzz tomorrow. Unfortunately, Buzz was not at Epcot... So he never got to meet him…
Winston fell asleep, but Madilyn still wanted that snow globe, so my dad took Madilyn to the gift shop to finally get her snow globe. ($7.44 w/tax) She spent her money really wisely this trip. Normally, she would have spent all of it, but this is literally the only purchase she made the whole trip!
My dad said there were actually people swimming in the pools when they went to the gift shop! It was COLD. We all went to bed quickly tonight; I was basically asleep when they returned from the gift shop.
The weather today was… H63/L46 It was chilly today, but it was sunny enough to ditch the jackets
The best thing today was… meeting all the characters; Chip, Dale, Fairy Godmother, Princess and the Frog, Pooh and Tiger, Mad Hatter, Donald (almost Scrooge), Aurora, Cinderella, and Belle.
The worst thing today was… Wesley not getting Buzz’s autograph
The funniest thing today was… seeing people actually swimming! It was FREEZING…
Today we tried… Movies food court and gift shop
And the result was… we like Music better
The most magical moment today was… Winston having a blast on Pooh’s playground!

Sounds like you had a great time. Sorry about no Buzz or Scrooge, that gives you something to look forward to next time.

Just got caught up.
I don't know why they do the KimPossible thing the way they do. We checked in right passed England, I believe and our mission was in Norway. We had to hightail it over there to make it in time. They need to rework that part. The missions are fun. I hope you got to do one before you guys left.
So how were the crowds that week? I know you didn't go to a park on Thanksgiving, but I am wondering about before Thanksgiving.
Your dad seems to be managing better.

Yes, I wish you could pick the country you do or get a country near where you are! Both nights we got Kim Possible missions, they were FAR away from where we were. Unfortunately, we did not get it done this trip! I plan to try to do it earlier in the day next time and make it a priority!
The crowds were VERY managable! The average wait time for regular non fast pass rides was 15-20 minutes. (the lines were short the first hour or two of course). And the fast pass attractions were crazy long, but that tends to be the case year round. I felt like we got a lot done even though it was a holiday week by having a plan and using fast passes for the major attractions. I won't think twice about going this time of year again!
