Sousefest - A December to Remember (If We Can) - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Heather: where were you when I was in college??*L* I needed a friend like you with your rockin receipes I am going to write a few of those down for sure!
Its so nice to see PP come together and make such great friends for life...I love it and I love reading your reports so I'm really looking forward to seeing Disney at christmas through you guys
WOW...this trip report is so much fun to read!! I can't wait to hear all about ya'lls adventures!
Sharon - love the way you do multi-tasking!
Karen - I'm glad the puppy is okay. We have a new puppy and my tree isn't going up until right before Christmas. He does love to chew!
It took lots of practice to master that particular style of multi-tasking.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
I'm planning on one more rambly update before we set out on Thursday (). I was hoping to get it done this past weekend, but I spent too much time on Christmas preparations (and I'm almost done - just two more gifts to buy, but lots of wrapping to do now. ) But if anyone else has anything to add, don't wait for me.
Anyway, I'll have my laptop with me, and I'm sure Heather and Eileen will be checking in as well, so there are sure to be updates for those hoping to follow along!

I know I know, you all think I've been slaking already . . . skipping my drinks of the day, however, we have a hematology convention in town and I work doubles on the weekends. Its only Monday and I've already put in 23 hrs this work week (which starts on Saturday.) I've got about 23 more hours to go before vacation: Tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday!!
I'm very excited! I'm very not ready. I know you're thinking: Doesn't Heather keep everything in her big purple Owner's Locker. Well, sort of. I took all my T shirts home to swap out last trip. I also don't keep Christmas decorations OR presents in my OL. Plus I don't have anything remotely dressy in my OL. I NEED TO DO LAUNDRY!
There will be live updates! You can follow our progress in The Window Seat Forum for photo updates--I'm pretty sure that my Photobucket account is still linked to the forum!
I'll be posting the live photos to my blog: http://ilovedisney247.wordpress.com/
Wow -- you're thinking--isn't she tech savvy? Nope learning on the fly!
And of course . . . I'll have my laptop with me as always. And if I find time . . . I'll drop in right here and say "Hi!"
And now the moment you've all been waiting for.
The Drink of the Day
2 part Hydrogen plus 1 part Oxygen
Thats right folks the drink of the day is Water. Why? Because the drink of the day on Sunday was Port. And you missed out on Saturday when the drink of the day was white wine.
I'll get back to you tomorrow or later today, when my head stops throbbing.
Now we need to get you ladies all on a DCL ship. The FAB possibilities abound!
It just so happens that Heather and I are both booked for a cruise next December. Just sayin'.
Good grief... maybe I should sell a kidney now...

Karen and I had a good laugh devising what WOULD be a difficult challenge for me. We finally decided on "The Magnificent Muzzle Challenge," whereby I was forced to remain quiet while surrounded by parkgoers who were both literally and figuratively lost without being able to say a word.
Not.A.Word!
Can you IMAGINE the internal turmoil I'd experience if I overheard something like "after we buy our FastPasses for the 3 o'clock parade, can we go on Soarin'?"
I think the top of my head would blow off not being able to help these poor, clueless souls.

I came here looking for a laugh, and you didn't let me down! This brings back so many memories of similar silly things I've overheard in the parks over the years!
I still think that a PassPorter Book based upon Eileen's expert bathroom knowledge might be a great addition - she could give ratings, list her favorites by features...true it would be a lot of waiting for the rest of the group but what an e-book that would make

And I could hold the stop watch to see just how long it would take you to blow a gasket!
Okay, I have not packed one single solitary item yet. I had grand plans to get her done this weekend, but Thom was sick as a dog this weekend. I didn't know if he was contagious or not, so the girls and I stayed out of the house as much as possible.
He's better now, so I should be able to fill up that red Mickey Mouse suitcase tonight! And with the weather being much warmer than last year, it won't take me long to pack my sequined tube top, satin shorts and Candies.

If you don't have that in your wardrobe, you better go out and buy it girl! Because after the visual I just got, I don't think we're letting you into the villa (or, even worse, we'll hold your chardonnay hostage) until we see you in that get up!

Oops! I had better plan a trip to the Walmarts tomorrow at lunch.
