As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

yes, ma'm we want real, fresh grapefruits. love to buy from stands on trips. we got peaches in georgia (what a concept!) and some melons---omg good! its the difference between eating sweet corn on the cob fresh from the field or after its been shipped here. still good but not OMG good. we'll be happy to take some off your hands.
i'm told the almanace says it will be below average for the first part of the trip and cold and rainy for the last couple of days. and we all know the Farmer's Almanac is always right. it was cold last time, maybe i should just move there and alter the temperature all winter! probably be bad for the orange trees and what not.
Was that said with tongue in cheek? Did the Almanac predict warm weather last year and it was cold? I ask because I've used the Almanac in the past to determine the weather for my trip. One year we planned to go to NOLA and ended up going to St. Louis instead. The Almanac predicted heavy rain in NOLA. Turns out they were right because they were hit with a hurricane (it wasn't Katrina but one a few years earlier)

nope it was said seriously. last year it said lower than normal temps and dry. and it was. i haven't seen the almanac but one of the faculty plans his life by it and he told me, chilly for half my trip and rain for the last half and all the way home. i'm so excited, NOT.

I'd rather it be chilly but skip the rainy and definitely skip the cold. When I was there in '07 it was mid/upper 70's during the day and 60's at night. I wore a jacket two nights but it wasn't buy gloves and ear muffs kind of cold. I'm hoping we have jeans and t-shirt kind of weather.

good luck with that t-shirt and shorts kind of weather...yesterday you could definitely tell who was a southerner and who was a "yankee" as me and melissa said.....oh, and grapefruit? they are like zucchini are up north...i got more than i could ever eat. pink ones. and couldn't get em no fresher than right off the tree the night before, girl!
I am not loving the rain forecast either!!! Hope ya'll like citrus some, but that's all I am sayin about that!!! Talked to photopass today, and they are working on having a preorder deal for DVC too (there is NONE as of now) and I healthily expressed my displeasure at the fact that Dvc is often the last consideration with these sorts of things. I was put on hold, and a supervisor came on with some compensation for my "distress"; a pleasant surprise for a small complaint.
December 2009 1st-3rd. Rain and wet snow south to the Gulf Coast, followed by clear and cold weather. 4th-7th. Coastal storm moves along the Atlantic seaboard. Moderate to heavy rain, and increasingly strong and gusty winds. Very cold air follows. Freeze conditions down into Florida. 8th-11th. Dry weather. 12th-15th. Lots of clouds and scattered showers. 16th-19th. Cloudy, with occasional intervals of sun. Cool nights, with unseasonably mild days.
hmmmmm. Wish we could order up the weather like we do a pizza.....Abundant sunshine, mid-70's during the day and high 60's at night.

Thanks for posting this. I e-mailed the Photopass people and got a response back, but they didn't say anything to me about it not being offered to DVC people specifically (I did ask in my e-mail.), but they just said something along the lines of it you're staying in a Walt Disney World Resort and they have your e-mail you should get one. I guess I'll wait a few days and see and if I don't receive one I may call them too.
I figured I would call them back next Monday, just to give them time to get it together. I will let ya know what I hear then, but DO call them as well, the more calls they get maybe they'll act faster! Happier to see the almanac only says "scattered showers" THAT I can live with. More excited to see "freeze conditions"!!! lol
This is the 1st time I decided to go through a TA to do this trip since I want to save my DVC points to use for later in 2010. I sure do hope I will still get an offer, even though everything is going through the TA. Keeping my fingers crossed cause this time I think I want to buy the cd and book package!!
Okay - E - I will say that the dates I will be there look 'okay' in your almanac. I'm not really into the freeze conditions at the beginning of the report, though. I am planning on wearing long sleeved t-shirts. Hoping those freeze conditions leave by the 10th and leave us pleasantly chilly!!

My TA says the offer comes in our packets with a note saying to activate it.
Guess I'll have to pack the ponchos for this trip.and the jackets.
Packing the jackets isn't a bad deal, IMHO. I have a jacket that has a zip in zip out liner that I can change out in the morning. It's also rain resistant. If it poured, I'd need a poncho. But I stick one of those disposable poncho packs in the pocket. I also stick those little tiny gloves that stretch into adult size in my pocket along with some folded ear muffs. When it's too warm, I just tie it around my waist.
