Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Rate Elemis Spa Products here!

Hi,
This thread was suggested in the one I started about the metabolism testing on the Magic. I thought it was a good idea.

What is your experience with Elemis Spa products? What do you like? What was a disappointment?

I am going on my first cruise in November and have booked the metabolism test and an Elemis manicure and pedicure, so I am sure I will be offered some products, and wanted to know what is really worth the money!

We found the products to be fine overall as they are used in the spa. Bought one or two over the years but the prices are insane compared to spas back on land. I'd politely decline the whole speech on products. In fact that's what I've done the last couple of times.

I tried the products from A carnival cruise. Exact same thing. Yes it worked, but then I got pregnant with our 3rd child. I agree buy online. Much cheaper!! My piggy bank has not allowed me to buy more right now

A quick answer: do your Metabolism test with Daniel if you can. He doesn't hard sell. Peter tends to push harder. Both are great guys and will do the seminars.
If you are not willing to entertain the "Internal Detox" discussion, I wouldn't bother with the Metabolism test. Daniel will provide you pages of interesting literature.
More from me in a later post.

My Story - External/Internal DETOX on Cruise

I am a 48 yr old single Dad, cruised with my two teen daughters on Magic 1-8 August.

Before cruise 192.5, sizable muffin tops both below and above my size 36 pants. Too much coffee, diet sodas, poor diet. I wanted a turnaround - committed to it.

Embark day, while the girls were in the Stack, I toured the Spa. Started learning, signing up. Day 1, Daniel conducted a 10am "Secrets to a Flatter Stomach" seminar. Top-level: weight loss is contributed to 15% exercise (standard aerobic & anaerobic), 35% nutrition (organic foods, smaller portions, more frequent), and 50% Detox.

The Detox: "toxins" cause water to be trapped around your fat cells. Poor/processed food slows the lymph system, circulatory system, and clogs the liver (the filter). Clean thm out and your body is more efficient. The Detox is NOT a Colon Cleanse (yuck) - no talk of that at all.

Took the Body Composition Test ($33). I have fat and water to lose (no surprize) (9 lb fat, 9lbs water +/-). Received two info packages from Daniel "Herbal Detoxification Supplements" and "Body Cleansing Strategy with Elemis Micro Algae". Told him I'd get back to him later in the week.

Signed up for the "Course of 3" Ionithermie Algae Super-Detox ($388 for 3, $155 for 1). My reasoning: a) who does only one trip to the gym, b) what boy doesn't like green mud, c) this was my St Thomas "watch". I lost 6 inches (four spots) in the 3 treatments - sounds good right? Who cares about the numbers. My tight pants were now more loose and my 15 year old daughter noticed and commented that I looked trimmer ("less fat" were her words).

I enjoyed every dinner including a glass of wine and dessert - on Lobster night I couldn't choose between the lobster and vennisen medallions, so I had both. Took small portions at Topsider buffett - take a little, eat a little, leave a little.

Purchased the Internal (herbal) detox plan (9 months) and External (24 applications) program. Yes, very expensive. You can find all the products for the exact same price at TimeToSpa.com. Positive: you don't have to make a huge investment upfront. Drawback: no info on-line on how to use or effectiveness, so learn that onboard!

When I came home: 187.0 (5.5 lbs less). Several inches trimmer.

More on home program in future post.
PM me for personal questions.

My Story - Home Program

Some comments on the Internal and External Detox home program:

The Internal Detox home program - Month 1: Deep Drainage and Cal-Metab, Month 2: Silhouette, Month 3: Vitality. (Total 3 month program $308. Same price on-line. Repeat as necessary to clean the body's filter - liver)

I have only completed Month 1, so I will comment only on the Deep Drainage, Cal-Metab. Overall- they do just as they are advertise. Fat layer is much smaller/thinner. Muffin tops are minimized. Pants, although the same size 36, are loose-very. I have even purchased "flat-front" pants (versus "pleated") for the first time in years.

Deep-Drainage: cleanse fat "toxins" and release water retained. It does just that. No urgent urination. No diareha (remember this is not a colon-cleanse).

Cal-Metab: increase the metabolism, control hunger. Yes, it does. Although only a few days into month 2, I notice not taking these anymore.

External Detox (like Ionitherme w/o the electricity):
I purchased the 24 application program. I have used it about once every 3 or 4 days. Overall: it too works just as advertised. The day after evening application, I am noticably trimmer, skin firmer, cellulite smoother.

The principle: the algae is absorbed in the skin (like lotion) and helps trouble area cells directly release retained water. The results: just like principle.

Cost $372 with a free brush. Same as web (w/o the brush), but I would have had no idea how to use the products together without sessions in the spa.

So, I am working on the Detox (50%), better diet / not starving (35%), and now increasing exercise (15%).

Current weight: 183.5 - down 9 lbs. More importantly, inches lost, trimmer body, healthier lifestyle.

I'm worth it!

Other Spa Products

With herniated disks in my neck, not a day went by without taking a couple of advil and/or tylenol to ease the pain or irritation. Even on cruise!

Until I did the full body hot stone massage ($190) with Carina. What an incredible massage! All tension melted away. All pain vanished.

I asked about the products she used, and she showed them, explained them and offered them for sale. The ones I was not interested in were immediately put away - no hard or even soft sell.

I did purchase the Aching muscles super soak ($55) - I use it like a bodywash as needed. Very helpful. I also purchased the Instant refreshing gel ($52) which has a unique oxygenating feeling to warm skin and especial effective on the shoulders and neck.

Both do exacting what they are advertised to do - very effective. They can also be found at TimeToSpa.com for exactly the same price as on-board and some times there are on-line promotions, coupons, free-shipping etc.

So I would recommend indulging in the spa services - enjoy! Ask/learn about the products if you like them in use. Buy on-board if you desire with the full knowledge you can buy the exact same products on-line when you get home for the same price (or better) - so no pressure!

The Spa on Magic is to the body as the restaraunts are to the stomach!

OBTW - not one advil or tylenol since 6 August. Thank you Carina!

I love the Elemis products. I purchase them between cruises at timetospa - but I always pick up something on each cruise too! I use the products sparingly, so they last me a long time.

My favorites - Rose Petal Cleanser, Eye Serum, Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt (great on dry feet in winter). I've been happy with everything I've purchased onboard.....

Having finished Month 2 "Silhouette", I wanted to provide an update. Visible changes: hunger not as controlled, not as trim as end of Month 1. I know I haven't eaten as well as month 1 and at times my portions were too big. But as I said, I notice not taking months 1 supplements anymore.

The big question: is it working as advertised. Not sure. Silhouette is supposed to work on the internals, cleansing the blood stream, helping the thyroid, and helping clean out the liver more (the filter). As I have no way to measure those things, it could be doing just as advertised. The effects of eternal skin improvement is evident - my 48 yr old skin looks better.

Weight: 186.0 up a couple

Moving into Month 3: "Vitality" - "Helps to increase energy levels, combat tireness and increase the body's stamina." I will update again in a month.

Remember, most of the recommended programs for "Internal Detox" on the ship come after the Body Composition Test, and are recommended for 6, 9, or 12 months. They never claim to make you drop weight instantly, and they are not a Colon-Cleanse (yuck).

Also, remember you can purchase all spa products at TimeToSpa.com for the exact same price as on-board, so there should never be any pressure on you.

Completed Month 3 "Vitality" Did not feel any increase in energy or less fatigue. Must also state that work stress has increased and H1N1 went through the house. Additionally, my 15 year old had an emergency appendectomy. So life has been a bit more stressfull. Maybe it produced more energy and I just used it up.

Weight: 187.0 up 1.0

My program repeated for a second 3 month plan. I look forward to repeating the effects of month 1. I'll tell you next month.

Miss the relaxing cruise now over 3 months ago....
