Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 42 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay, how adorable is Dylan? Sorry, I just love that picture with his binky in his mouth. I love Harmony Barber Shop. Penny did my boys' hair this year also. She is great. They really are wonderful with kids. I love your description of the GF tea. I really want to try that, but would have no one to go with, lol. Not sure if DH and the boys would sit through that. Glad you enjoyed illuminations and the passporter meet. Can't wait for more.
Great night! Fish & Chips are on my list for this next trip. Never had them...always wanted them. What a great PP meet for Illuminations. And Love the little fan Dylan has on his stroller...great idea!
Soon Illuminations started and I just about teared up – being there with my family, holding my little boy, and being surrounded by so many PassPorters that love Disney as much as I do was almost too much to handle! I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about it.
This is exactly how I felt as well and I too get teary eyed every time we remember this magical meet. I'm so glad we got to meet and Stefanie thinks a whole lot of Dylan, too. She still asks about him and is actually a little miffed that he won't be there in October.
Glad you got to meet up with some great PP.
Seeing Dylan with that churro is making me wish I was there right now! He is so cute.
Thank you so much! Looking back on the pictures again and again is a great way to relive the trip - and make myself hungry.

Do the teas have descriptions of the flavor on them, to give you an idea of what they taste like?
Love the "chips" in UK!
I hope I can continue the 'memories of the day'. I know my Passporter puches helped with that part of this though. Thanks PP!! I believe that yes they do have descriptions. I think All Ears does too. I know the first time I went Eros is what the CM recommended so I went with it.

Loving the relive of your trip. It helps me remember so much from our trip!! I haven't even attempted our scrapbook yet. I have a pile of stuff on my sofa table just waiting for me to start but I have mixed emotions. I will feel both happy and sad when I work on it so I keep putting it off.
I missed the PP margarita meet and getting the chance to meet so many other PPs but we had never seen Fantasmic before and it was happening twice that night so we had the opportunity. However, I think I told you that already. I never know when I will get back to WDW as my family isn't as obsessed with the Mouse as I am (especially DH)! Sounds like y'all had a great time!!
BTW how is that Grand Mariner Slushy thingy? I have heard such good things about it and thought about drinking around the world in Nov.
Oh my! That power outage thing!! I wonder who's story will be better?! I was upset we didn't get to see Fantasmic! in June, so I understand. Ihope we get to see it in December. The Grand Marnier FAB was yummy!!! I'd definitely have one again - and in November you won't have to worry about it melting.

I bet heather is so super cool! those straws sounded like a real treat!
I loved the little towel display they left for you in your room..i when they do something special like that when you are gone!
I do love me some fish and chips! Sounds like it was good night...you made me teary eyed talking about illuminations! Its my fave one to watch!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt nervous beforehand. Heather - and everyone else - made me feel very at home though.

Thank you SO much!! We've gotten rid of the binky (or paci as we call it) pretty much all together - he only gets it at bedtime and occasionally in the car (if we have one).

The fan was a life saver this trip! I think it definitely helped cool him down and putting it where it was directly on him was good too.

When I read this a big smile erupts on my face! We wish we could be there and see you in October too! How about if you think of us in October and we'll think of you in December!

Kelly, I will have to say your story will probably be better as there was only two of us vs. the four of y'all who experienced it. But yes !!! Can't wait to hear how it went for y'all.
What a great update. Glad you and Becki enjoyed your Tea and the evening sounded wonderful. What a great way to enjoy Illuminations, family, great friends...It really sounds like the whole evening was perfect.

I hope to catch you at least once if not more in December!!
Sorry for the delay, but now on to our regularly scheduled TR:
6/10/09
We did our usual morning routine of Mike getting ready first and then getting Dylan ready including breakfast while Becki & I got ready. We arrived at MK between 9:15 and 9:30. This was a much better day to go as AK had AM EMH so I’m sure it was more crowded there. Mike went and got FPs for BTMRR while Becki, Dylan & I headed to Pirates. We took our journey to Tartuga and then played around in the gift shop a bit.
Next we headed to Haunted Mansion and picked up a hitch-hiking ghost. I bought a water ($2.50) at the Liberty Square Produce Market as it was H-O-T today!!! That was at 10:43am according to my receipt and our FPs were good starting at 10:35am so we headed in that direction. We got our Baby Swap FP (after having to go retrieve Mike & Dylan in the nearby gift shop as they had to see Dylan to get the Baby Swap FP) and Becki & I headed on to the fastest ride in the Wilderness! It was a great ride! I just love it! I then switched places with Mike while him & Becki rode BTMRR. Meanwhile I went to change Dylan’s diaper and then thought I’d let him play in the kiddie area under the bridge by Spash Mountain. Well, we basically just hung out in the shade down there and watched the other kids. I know it’s geared towards 2-5 year old and Dylan was about 20 months at this trip so I thought he could do it a bit, but man some kids are PUSHY!! A few were all over the place – running up the slide, going down headfirst, just running amuck. Amuck, amuck, amuck! Sorry – tangent to SJP in Hocus Pocus. Anyway, Mike & Becki made it off the ride and we were going to get FPs for Splash Mountain but the return time was from 1:10 – 2:10pm and that wouldn’t work as we had ressies at T-Rex at 1:00pm. So instead we rode IASW.
And then we headed to the exit to go to DTD, stopping to get our picture taken on the way out.
