Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 41 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First of all, thank you all so much for saying my little boy is cute! I of course think that, but it's nice to hear from others. And since everyone liked the "Where'd they go?" pic I put it as my sig pic.

My DH is kind of disappointed that he hasn't gotten to go just yet.

I have wanted to do the tea party, but the funn thing is... I don't really care for Tea. I just think it would be fun, so I would probably suck it up and pick something I think I could drink. It all smells so good, yet I always feel its on the bitter side. I can't seem to get the right mix.
Yes, I did have a picture of him getting his 1st haircut as my sig pic a while ago.You can get other things to drink if you don't like tea - hot chocolate (I think), soda, water, etc.

He always looks so different with the new haircut. We just had it done a few weeks ago because it was already back in his eyes. Tea is very relaxing!

He's getting big too fast too and I'm so glad we have many memories of him already - also captured in pictures and on video.

The egg salad that came with the kids tea was yummy.
I think I had an egg salad sandwich too if I'm remembering right. It is definitely a more than one time thing to do.

I think you're going to the tea in December. I wish I was able to join you for it though.

I know a little bit about dropping Blood Sugar in disney....I have to eat all day long and at disney; sometimes i get so excited i forget to do that. I've had two incidents there in the past few years. Not good
Your description of GF tea is so right on and the cucumber sandwhich is my fave too! I do remember the taste of that wonderful swan with mousse yummo!
I was not aware you could buy the tea either so that rocks!
I am actually trying to talk DBF into going to that tea for my birthday...not sure how he's going to react but reading this made me really want to push for it for sure!!*L*
Hurry back with more
Well I hope you remember to eat this trip and from the sounds of your TR that may not be a problem this year. Good Luck getting Eric to tea. I'm going to take Mike next year for our birthdays and I think he wants to as he's the more hot beverage drinker than I am and he's a bit different so tea is right up his alley.
I'll try to come back quicker with an update. I usually do them while I'm at work (SSSHHHHHH!!) but I didn't bring my things with me today. This weekend I'm going away to my cousin's bachelorette party so it definitely won't happen this weekend either.

Kelly - Dylan is such a cutie. I am really enjoying this TR. I read the TR of Dylan's 1st trip and it gave me some great ideas when we take my son in October. His birthday is on October 16th and I am hoping to get his haircut done after his birthday breakfast at Chef Mickeys.
I know in your last TR you mentioned that you got Dylan a monkey walking pack (not sure what they are called). How did that go for you and Dylan? My son is walking now and I was thinking about getting on for our trip but my mother thinks he won't be able to walk around much with the crowds.

Looking forward to your next installment
Thanks Megan! I hope your little guy's first birthday trip is as magical as Dylan's was! The haircut is definitely something you should try to fit in one day while you're there. In June the backpack/harness didn't work out too well as it was really crowded, but it did come inhandy several times. I suggest trying it out as it isn't expensive and doesn't take up all that much extra space.
After tea, I called Mike to see what him & Dylan were up to. Dylan was still napping, so Becki & I decided to just go back to the room before heading to Epcot. We made it back at about 4:30pm. And Dylan was still sleeping, so we tried to be quiet for a little while longer, but then I decided he needed to wake up or he wouldn’t go to bed later. While we were gone this was left in the bathroom:
Once Dylan was up we headed out to Epcot at 5:45pm. Since Becki & I had stuffed ourselves with tea sandwiches and other goodies, we were not hungry, but the boys were. We headed back to World Showcase and then to UK. I ordered the boys fish & chips to share, a Large Draft Bass Ale for Mike, and a bottle of water ($19.00 even) while the rest tried to find a place to sit. Boy was it crowded!! (By the way, my receipt is stamped at 6:42pm, so it didn’t take but an hour to get to Epcot from AKL and then walk all the way back to UK and order food. Pretty good if you ask me.)
I just love this picture of Becki!
After the boys’ bellies were full we just made our way around the World Showcase. Becki & I got a Grand Marnier slush to share as we made our way towards Mexico for Heather’s Margarita / Illuminations meet. Delish!! I know we stopped to look at the trains in Germany for a bit because Dylan loves himself some ‘choo choo’ right now. I think we grabbed a Fastpass for Maelstrom with a return time of 8:05 – 9:05, but didn’t end up using it. We went into Mexico to kill a little more time before meeting everyone and rode Three Caballeros. It was now time to look for Heather and the other PassPorters. I spotted them and went to park the stroller. I was a bit nervous at first and it took me a while to get comfortable, but I eventually did as most of you know everyone is just too nice! Becki & I got our margaritas which Heather had fancy straws (a flower on them) for us to use and of course we all got our ducks from Heather as well. I will say Miss Stefanie was Dylan’s favorite person!! And I think Amy (iamgrumpy) was right behind her.
Soon Illuminations started and I just about teared up – being there with my family, holding my little boy, and being surrounded by so many PassPorters that love Disney as much as I do was almost too much to handle! I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about it. I’m so glad I had Mike video tape that Illuminations!! Some left right away and others stayed to talk a bit more – I finally got to meet Jill & Karen of the CLQ and was just too excited! They really are the nicest people! I had a great time talking to everyone and didn’t want to leave, but I could feel I was getting the stink eye from the rest of the family so we headed off to Norway to ride Maelstrom.
(I'm sorry to say that I have no pictures of anyone else! ) Take a look at Cam22's TR for pictures of the meet - I think she has the best and most!
We headed towards the exit, but stopped for a little shopping in Mouse Gear, although Becki was the only that bought anything.
We were ‘home’ by 11:30pm. Which we received notice (I think it was a phone message) that the power would be out at the resort from 1 – 3 am on June 12, which later got changed to 3-5 am. I’ll let you know how that goes when we get to that day.
Memories from our third day:
The weather today was…sunny & hot & humid.
Today we walked…7.24 miles.
Today we spent…$156.21+ (CRT slipper (already paid for breakfast so I didn’t count that), souvies, tea, dinner for boys; Mike also bought a beer and churro later, but I don’t have his receipts).
The best thing today was…afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian with Becki!
The worst thing today was…the long lines at MK. 40 minutes for Pirates?!
The funniest thing today was…Dylan crying at Cinderella.
Today we tried…CRT for breakfast
and the result was…it was a good food, lovely service, and fun to see the Princesses.
The most magical moment today was…seeing Illuminations with my family & PassPorters.
Up next…. a better morning at MK, but how long does it take to get to DTD??

Doesn't it always happen that way, they decide to nap forever when you are ready to go somewhere!! I think its neat how you are doing the memories of the day, especially with the prices, someday Dylan can look back at that and will be amazed at how CHEAP it was! Ha!
Do the teas have descriptions of the flavor on them, to give you an idea of what they taste like?
Love the "chips" in UK!

OMB!! I gotta share with you what happened that night (June 12) with us when you actually get there in your report.
Loving the relive of your trip. It helps me remember so much from our trip!! I haven't even attempted our scrapbook yet. I have a pile of stuff on my sofa table just waiting for me to start but I have mixed emotions. I will feel both happy and sad when I work on it so I keep putting it off.
I missed the PP margarita meet and getting the chance to meet so many other PPs but we had never seen Fantasmic before and it was happening twice that night so we had the opportunity. However, I think I told you that already. I never know when I will get back to WDW as my family isn't as obsessed with the Mouse as I am (especially DH)! Sounds like y'all had a great time!!
BTW how is that Grand Mariner Slushy thingy? I have heard such good things about it and thought about drinking around the world in Nov.
I was very nervous when I met the PP at an Illuminations meet too but it was so great and I agree PP are always so nice no matter who you meet! I met Psha last year and I felt I had met a celebrity She was so nice and I talked her ear off because I was so excited to meet her! I bet heather is so super cool! those straws sounded like a real treat!
I loved the little towel display they left for you in your room..i when they do something special like that when you are gone!
I do love me some fish and chips! Sounds like it was good night...you made me teary eyed talking about illuminations! Its my fave one to watch!
It was wonderful meeting you and your family that night, and I was definitely even more teary-eyed than usual during that Illuminations. Passporters are a very special group of people!
