The Disney Remix (Better Known as the Disney Kiss Perfected) A PreTR - UPDATED 9/20 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so glad you've started your pre-tr!! Your plans look great! I agree with you on the Messenger Bagallini, I have one too and it gets awful heavy by the end of the day (I seem to collect stuff from my family too!) I like the look of your new one, I'll have to keep that in mind. Where did you find the recipes for African food, it all sounds . Can't wait to hear more of your plans!

I just spent the last little while reading your Pre TR and TR from 2007, and now this one. I am so happy I went back and read those b/c it gave me great insight to your family.
I am hoping you find a way for your dh to enjoy the rides better! I too agree I would have wanted to switch resorts since you aren't required to stay there.
Looking forward to more!
Yes - I'm hoping all our 'remedies' we're testing for motion-sickness make a difference.
And I would love trying different resorts. My family happens to love POR (especially Alligator Bayou) because it's so quiet. After a noisy, busy day at the parks, it's like coming home to the peace and quiet of the backwoods.
Sounds like things are pretty under control (even if you don't always feel like it). Love that you themed your dinner with your Disney movie - boy, you are adventurous. In my house, that meal would have gotten rolled eyes and too many left overs. Madison would have probably been looking in the cabinet for something else.

I actually got them all from Jeff Smith's The Frugal Gourmet. I have to say, I love sweet potatoes made in lots of different ways - but I think the sweet potatoes in coconut milk is my favorite now.

I'm not the world's greatest cook, so is The Frugal Gourmet fairly easy to follow or not?

What a great looking bag. I have a bright pink baggallini that I've used on 4 trips now. It may be time for a new one. I can't believe I missed the disney visa discount for the photopass. Didn't know about it til it was over. Looks like your plans are coming together. Looking forward to hearing more.
The Ginger Pill Trials and Letting Go of the Reins (a little bit!)
Let’s start with the last one - Letting Go of the Reins.
Kevin had a secret. A deep, dark secret that had been eating away at him for the past year. He didn’t tell anyone how he was feeling, not even me – until almost a year had passed since our first visit.
Kevin (deep breath…) felt as if he was completely left out of our trip to WDW. He said he felt like the rest of us (all us women ) took charge and his job was simply to follow along at the back and make sure that no one straggled.
Whew! That’s a lot of frustration and irritation to keep bottled up for a year!
I felt really bad that he felt this way – as I assumed he had understood the planning process and what was going on as we went over everything in agonizing detail last trip. (Maybe that’s why he was just nodding his head and saying, “That sounds good, uh-huh, that’s fine.”) I know I’m just preaching to the choir here, but I know all of you know that the time to have a say about what you want to do is when you’re in the comfort of your own home planning your trip, not standing in the middle of a hot, crowded theme park saying, “What do you want to do?” “I don’t know, what do you want to do?” “I don’t know, what do you want to do?”
And having five different people, with five different ideas of what they think would be fun can only lead to anarchy! Even those of you who tour WDW leisurely usually have a general plan of what you’re going to do each day.
To make a long story short, Kevin and I are sitting down and really going through our itinerary for this trip AND (another deep breath…) I am going to hand over the reins to him during the afternoons. (This doesn’t mean I won’t have a ‘plan’ in my back pocket in case we run into trouble!) I’m fairly certain I can get the main bulk of our itinerary finished by lunchtime or soon afterwards…so letting Kevin lead us around in the afternoon should be okay….I hope!
Is there a 12-step program for Obsessive Disney Planners?
Now – “The Ginger Pill Trials” …I was really hoping to have some test results to share with you all by the end of this weekend…until I ran across a most interesting product I found on the web.
This is a sublingual (actually they suggest you spray it on the inside of your cheeks) spray used by many flight instructors, sailing school operators and such to help prevent and combat motions sickness. The testimonies are amazing and the ease of dosing makes it perfect for theme park use.
Today I’m trying to see if I can find a tube locally by checking our health food stores and local flight schools. If not, I’m ordering a tube and we will test it next week.
And as for the test subject, getting him to cooperate went something like this…
ME: I found this new, cool product to help with motion sickness and we need to test it on you.
HIM: Test it? How are we going to test it?
ME: You’re going to take it and then we’re going to have you sit in the passenger seat while I drive up some really curvy and hilly roads.
HIM: O-kaaay…
ME: If that works, then we’re going to take you to Opry Mills Mall and have you ride the carousel.
HIM: I can’t ride that. It spins and it makes me sick.
ME: That’s why we need you to test the product while on the carousel.
HIM: Let me get this straight – you want me to deliberatelytry and make myself sick just to see if this stuff works?
ME: Yes, that’s the point.
HIM: I don’t want to take a chance of making myself sick by riding that. Let’s just wait ‘til we get to WDW to try it.
ME: Would you take a chance of getting sick here at home or would you rather take a chance of getting sick at Disney and ruining your day?
HIM: I see what you mean…
So – hopefully I’ll have some test results to share with you all next week. I’m really excited about finding this. This could really make a difference in the things Kevin is able to do.

I totally get what you are saying about control. You are really brave to let go with your husband, but beleive me have those backups available because nonWDW nuts can get overwhelmed really fast.
What is an obsessive Disney planner???? I two years ago I allowed Luke to help out in the planning, especially the how early part of the day we begin and it really has worked much better for all of us.
I'm really curious to know how this motion sickness stuff works as I too have a real issue with it.
