Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 31 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh no! I'm glad Dylan wasn't too difficult for you on the plane going and at least someone used to him (Becki) was in the seat in front of you so I'm sure he didn't bother her too much on the plane ride down!
He only did for a little bit and we kind of egged him on at first.

Can't wait to read more please

Yes Airtran was a bit more trouble than I had anticipated, but the cheap price I guess made up for it - somewhat. If you fly them and want to sit together - I suggest just forking over the $6 to pick your seats - it's better than the alternative.

Hurry with more, please!
I'm sure you can do it. And I will tell you I brought enough clothes so I didn't have to do laundry too. Use those bags that suck the air out - makes everything fit nicely plus it will protect the clothes in case the suitcase gets wet.

Thanks! I still can't really believe I did it. We're going back in December and I'm thinking we'll need to check 2 bags then - heavier clothes and all. Oh well! I saved $30 this trip.
Great start...sorry so much aggravation with Airtran but at least you got there safe and sound and ontime so all that is left to do is have fun Can't wait to hear more...
Yay, you started!!! There is no way I can pack one suitcase for all 3 of us, I am a big time over packer!! I am so glad now that I just booked southwest for our flights in October! We have flown airtran and have never had an issue sitting together, but it sounds like it may have become more of a problem with the option to pay for early seating. Another reason I picked southwest, no bag fees and they usually don't change our flight times. I have had that problem with Airtran too.

Kelly, we just invested in at least one box of the space bags, however I think I need to buy a second one of them. I used them to pack a couple weekends ago to fit Skyler & I in a small duffle for a 2 day trip (good thing I brought extra clothes for he and I since he goes through at least 10 outfits a day and I had some troubles with zippers breaking on my shirt). Does sucking out the air for you scare Dylan at all? Skyler got so scared as I was sucking the air out of ours. I'm trying to get Erick, Skyler, & I into one suitcase for next weekend with the addition of having to bring with a couple garment bags with for a Wedding (one of them being Erick's hideous Chocolate Brown Tuxedo which I hope he'll change out of for his Brother's Wedding and another one being my dress). Those have become my best friend for packing, maybe I actually should use them for my clothes in my closet, Erick might actually have some room in there.

I used the bags that you're supposed to roll the air out - so no vacuum needed. Although the rolling didn't work, so I just sat on it and that worked great. I had 2 medium/large bags and 2 small bags. Dylan pretty much wore one outfit everyday so next trip I won't be bringing double - maybe just 1.5 times the amount. Good Luck on your packing.

Yay! you started and I was without internet for the past four or five days so i missed it! But, so glad to catch up. I flew with Airtran and had the same issue but I didnt mind moving for others to sit together either. I will say that is an issue though..like you said just go ahead and charge me the 6 bucks ya know???
I am super impressed with the packing! So glad to hear dylan was okay with the flight!
Hmmm changes with DME?? i cannot wait to hear more about that!!
6/7/09 cont.
Once we arrived at the correct spot for DME, I parked Mike & Dylan in some chairs while Becki & I headed to the restroom. I thought it was odd that the chairs were empty and the line looked different than normal too, but I was on a mission for a potty break. Well, once we cut through the line to head to the restroom it dawned on me that things were a little different than they had been in the past. Instead of one person waiting in line and checking in at the counter you now all stand together as long as you have your DME vouchers and marked your bags with the yellow tags. So I gathered the boys and all our stuff and we went to get in line. It did go by fast and then we got in line for our resort – line #1!! Coronado Springs was also on our bus and soon we were off on the Magical Express. Unfortunately our movie didn’t work, so we drove in silence (well not really silence, but you know what I mean) to the resorts – Coronado was up first and then we were dropped off at Jambo House.
Upon arrival at Jambo we weren’t really sure where to check-in for club level so I got in the regular check-in line while Mike got in the concierge line. I was telling him he was wrong for getting in that line, but he ended up getting to the counter first and someone quickly came around to meet us and take us to the 6th floor. I will say that I did go ahead and check-in on-line ahead of time and all our documents were in our room and ready to go. I’m not sure if club level check-in is usually this efficient or if it was even more so because I checked in on-line, but we were taken to our room (Room 6406 – at the end of the hallway) and left within 5 minutes of being escorted up the elevator.
The room was great! (I'll let the pictures tell that story.) We looked around the room and went out on the balcony to see our view. We also unpacked a bit before heading out to Epcot for dinner.
Here are some pics of the room & view:
Mickey towel once Dylan was through with it.
Oh! I almost forgot. I had entered celebration information when I checked in on-line. I said we were celebrating Becki's 25th birthday and Mike & I were celebrating our 3rd anniversary and these were waiting for us in the room:
Becki had a birthday button - and they even spelled her name right and a wood carved Animal Kingdom Lodge pen (that's in the box). Mike & I received men's and women'd fragrances that were made especially for the lodge. I thought they were a nice touch!
