Cindybelle's DoD Trip Report, May 2009 WDW--Updated 6/19 - COMPLETE! - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now, my favorite park, DHS. A great place to goof around with a camera -- and we definitely went Hollywood all the way.
At 2:00pm that Monday (May 4), I had invited everyone to a ToT meet. Here's most of that group.
Now, ToT is known to scare many tourists, but not brave PPs -- but maybe so!
SuperDave and I were the only PPs to catch one particular ToT meet that evening (we missed a couple of folks due to a mixup -- sorry about that, everybody), so we took the opp to get our closeups. And we really, really showed our acting chops here. (Hey Dave, how much should we get in royalties if Disney uses these postcards? )
Here's the one that will make Dave and me millionaires!
Sorry -- got to go. Mr. Spielberg is on the phone.

Wow love your pictures from EPCOT Cindy. Didn't know they still did the hang glider "magic" in any of the pictures. Where were you when that picture was taken? Might want to try for it on a future trip!
Love this TR, you have made us feel like we were there with you all!
Glad you're enjoying it. Correct me if I'm wrong (Sheri, Laurie, Liz), but I'm pretty sure we had the same photographer get the pics of us in front of the Beauty & the Beast topiaries, and then we turned around so the Imagination building is behind us for the "hang gliding Mickey & pals" shot. (Or was that taken closer to the Land? That would make more sense, since Soarin' is in there.) Sorry, I'm just not sure. Maybe you could ask the photographer to please scan in the "hang gliding Mickey" no matter where you happen to be at Epcot? Anybody out there know the answer to this one?
Glad you're enjoying my TR. It sure makes me feel good to read that!
As I mentioned before, I skipped PP's final quest (no offense, Jennifer & Dave!) to spend time with some of my new Texas pals -- hey, anytime someone's ready to do EE over and over and over, I am THERE.
I'm not sure Minnie is showing her inner "cat" the way the rest of us are!
Clari had her hand on daughter Vanessa's shoulder. Then there's Lauren, Jeanene (the scamp wearing my pirate Goofy hat), Robbie standing behind daughter Tiffany, and yours truly in my new long-billed Goofy hat. (That thing was a godsend -- you know how they say AK is the hottest park? It was definitely true that day -- and that cap kept my pale face in the shade very nicely.)
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Monday night, I had one final ToT meet scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Nobody showed up (too much else going on, including a drink meet at POR, but I didn't want someone to show and me not be there). I was really, really tired by this time, so just did a little solo wandering around the park and decided to call it a day. (TSMM still had a long line, even after Fantasmic started, so I gave up.) Got my pic taken in front of my favorite DHS attraction before the sun was completely down.
After the DoD ended Tuesday night, I was left with the happy question of how to spend my final morning at WDW. Robbie said, "You like the Hollywood Studios, right? Well, how about going back there with a few of the girls?" Twist my arm, why don't you? Here we are, showing our rock-on attitudes. I think we did RnR three or four times that morning, didn't we? (Boy, do I look beat in this photo!)
A little later, Robbie, Jeanene, Lauren and I decided to enjoy frozen treats - the temperature was creeping up, and after a "hard week" of parkhopping, we needed a little sugar boost. (Plus, I'd only had one Mickey bar all week, and it would have been criminal to escape the parks before purchasing one more. )
What great times I enjoyed in May this year! I am one lucky girl to have been part of PassPorter's Decade of Dreams celebration, to have made so many good friends, and to have made so many interesting acquaintances that may turn into friendships in the future. And all at the happiest place on earth! Thank you, Jennifer and Dave Marx. Thank you, MEI Travel. And thank you, Uncle Walt, for encouraging unlimited dreams, nurturing unlimited innovations, and creating a place where people of all ages can act like kids and have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!
Cindy,to think this all happened just over a month ago,This page I actually cried.
the pics of you ,Liz Sheri and me where all in the same area infront of the topiaries at epcot just faceing 2 differant ways.
