As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I was really drawn in when Bo was considering marrying AJ's mother, BUT the whole ending with the ring was TOO Cinderella for me.
I am SURE, though, that there will be plenty more drama, since this is a sequel. It just left me with "And they lived happily ever after", which awakened the recovering feminist in me.

I kinda like happy ever after I hate sad endings. But I'd love a sequel with Yolanda's view. I think that would be very interesting.

The whole didn't want to get your hopes up and then let you down - Really how about leaving her thinking he was married to someone else? That is so much easier?????

THis ending definitely calls for a sequel! It was a happy cliff hanger, I think, because you KNOW there is more to it! You know that is going to be a very interesting wedding to plan.

That is a good point. I'd be like "As if showing up out of the blue with a ring is going to enchant me and make me sparkly stupid?". THen, if I were the character, I'd do that cool air-snap thing with the sideways neck move. (In real life, I can't snap my fingers and make a sound, so I could only do that if I were a book character.) OF course, that would be totally out of character for our heroine, BUT, she could have changed alot in those months! THat is a pretty long time!
I'm not really sure whether to thank someone for finding me a new author that I like, or not. I am somewhat of an obsessive reader. Since finishing this book, I had DH pick me up a couple of her other books at the library. Since then, I have not only read those 2, but gone back to the library and taken out all 5 books in the series before Fireside. I am in the middle of the 3rd one of 5 before Fireside. Needless to say, there are other things in my house not getting done!!!

And I have begun reading the 1st book in the series. "Summer at Willow Lake" is the story of the very beginning - Olivia Bellamy and her family background. I am on page 170 (out of 535) and have met Olivia, Daisy, and shop owners of Avalon. It's really fun to go back and meet them in the beginning. I already bought book 2 and have books 3 & 4 on order.

I liked the ending, but it seemed to me that it was written in a bit of a rush. It was almost like the author was given a page limit and suddenly realized she was fast approaching it so had to "real quick" tie up all the loose ends and pull it all together neatly. She had spent so much time on all the other aspects of this story, I almost felt like the ending was a fly-by attack.
I guess, though, it was the only way to end it all. If she had kept us up-to-date on all the happenings, the surprise of the ending would have been lost. And I love it that Penelope and Dino got married!! How cute!

OK, I'm going to give this book club a first vote for a next choice. I can't end with "And she said yes." as far as this series goes. I also feel some momentum to go to book one in this series and start enjoying that together.

OOH!!! A New Earth. I got through about half of that one with Oprah and Echart Tolle. It got so deep I got a little overwhelmed. I have all of the printouts that came with the discussions on Oprahs web discussions (Questions to do before and transcripts of the webcast). It is an awesome book, but extremely complex. It might do me good to try to wade into it again. I am sure by re-reading the chapters I was able to get through, I would understand it more and might be able to get through the rest this time.
I will do whatever the majority wishes, but I will continue to read the Susan Wigg books. Who knows, maybe the lightness of those books would be enough of an escape to allow my brain to return to Echart Tolle again.

I'd like to read the 1st book, Summer at Willow Lake, I don't feel I have the time to tackle A New Earth. Looks like an interesting read though. I have about 5 books waiting on my shelf to read Maybe if I didn't spend so much time on the boards, I might get something done, and my dd is asking me if I'm ever going to get around to reading the Barbara Walters book she bought me for my last birthday (May)
