As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Fun! And judging by my last ride on SE, I've given up your (our) husband, so he's all yours again. With how often I seem to change partners, those really were swinging parties. I'm so glad I got to spend so much time with you at Mousefest. You are a delightful person and I'm glad I can call you my friend. Sorry about the unsupervised kids in the hot tub. But pina colava sounds great (it's actually one of the FABs that was on the short list for my $20 trip). Can't wait to hear about dinner.

Ohhh can't wait for part about Turf Club. I would have loved to get into the hot tub when we were there 19-22nd (even if kids there) but the evenings were down in the 30's except first night (too tired that night)
When I left you yesterday I was sipping a glass of Moon Mountain Sauvignon Blanc perusing the menu at the Turf Club . . . lets return to that scene shall we.
My server arrived back at my table wearing a name tag that said James. I said hi James. He says not James, its Max. Okay Hi Max!
I know exactly what he did. He borrowed Max's extra name tag in order to NOT get in trouble for not wearing a name tag. (Most supervisors just ASSUME you are wearing YOUR name tag and never look too far past.) I've done this before, nobody ever notices when I wear the name tag that says "Tom" on it, okay the occasional customer notices, but none of my bosses ever do.
I ordered the tomato bisque with baked goat cheese to start.
Oh my god this was amazing. The soup was creamy with some bits of tomato in it (okay so not actually a bisque as a bisque would have gone through the Chinoise. (fancy french word for strainer pronounced Shin-Wah--I learn so much living with cooks) See you are learning things by reading my TR! In the center of the bowl was a large cake of baked goat cheese. It made the soup absolutely fantastic. I'm drooling just thinking about how good that bowl of soup was. I mopped all of it up with some of the bread from the table. Incidentally, the butter had been sprinkled with a fancy grey finishing salt, just like you find at some of the pricier restaurants.
I ordered another glass of wine, my reciept says Mile Magic Sra. I'm guessing I ordered, having done a quick google . . . Miles of Magic Syrah, inspired by the Year of a Million Dreams. As my main course I actually ordered a second app, as I am prone do doing because two apps and dessert is usually just right OR a little bit too much. I had the mussels in garlic white wine with applewood smoked bacon. I know, you're thinking . . . what is she doing drinking red wine with this? I ordered the wine BEFORE I ordered my entre. And frankly the bacon was strong enough to hold up to it. Either way it was yummy.
I ordered the chocolate lava cake for dessert. I deserve it right? I would have ordered a glass of Merlot at this point to go with it, but my server, who had been wonderful up to this point, Max or James . . . disappeared. This seems to be a common trend in my Disney Dining Experience. Take dessert order and vanish . . . someone else dropped off my dessert . . . so I slowly nursed what was left of my Syrah. Dessert was decadent and my bill was relatively small. 42.04 before tip is not bad for three courses and two glasses of wine.
Speaking of Syrah . . . I think its time for some wine . . .
Okay no syrah, but let me take just a moment to inform you about some very lovely wines I've sampled this week. I have three catagories this week: super bargin, modest, and splurge.
Lets start with Splurge: my wine splurge of the week was "The Prisoner" by Orin Swift wineries, about $35. He is the gentelman responsible for Opus One until he went out on his own. The '07 was full and is mostly a zin blend. Fruit forward and not too tannic. Next: modest Newton Claret about $18. A Clarent is a cab blend using all 5 bordeaux varietals. I describe it as a sexier version of cab due to the merlot and cab franc influences. Last super bargin : Dona Paula Los Cardo Malbec at Whole foods for $7.99 cheap and good! Its a nice spicy, rich bottle!

I packed the rest of my things into the car. I wasn't actually taking much back with me. Bell Services picked up my owner's locker and I was on my way to the MK.
Now I know I mentioned a contest. I didn't have anyone to take pics of me this day, so all of the shots are self shots. Can you figure out what rides/attractions I rode/visited in the MK on Monday morning? There are ten photos so there should be ten answers . . . although one of the photos is a hint to an attraction rather than a shot taken in the attraction. Good Luck!
