Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue TR-Cruise portion **Updated 3/7** COMPLETE - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Our first night onboard was a peaceful one... we slept like babies
We got up as the boat was docking. We were like kids on Christmas, anxious to see the view from our balcony...
Andy just interrupted me and dared me to enter in this line from the Who's Tommy: "Have you ever seen the faces of the children they get so excited, waking up on Christmas morning hours before the Winter sun's ignited."
Anyway....
that was the feeling.... and it was great
We headed upstairs to Beach Blanket Buffet for breakfast. I was afraid it would be crazy, but it wasn't that bad. We hopped in line, got our food, and found a place to sit with some old folks.
Andy and all our food.....
It reminded me of Shoney's......but I LOVE me some Shoney's breakfast bar, so that's not a bad thing.
We stepped outside up on deck 9 and it was sooooo flippin' windy and cold!!! I took this quick pic
And then we headed back inside....
After breakfast we had some time because they hadn't announced we could leave the boat yet. We went back to our room and took a couple pics from our balcony.
We decided to head out and find our way towards the gangway so we would be ready to exit as soon as they announced it. On the way out I took a picture of our door with my magnets
On the way out we saw Aladdin was out. We decided what the heck. Let's get our picture made. Aladdin commented on both our tshirts. My tshirt has a rock pointing to a ruler....and vice versa. The rock is telling the ruler "you rule" and the ruler and is telling the rock "you rock" I LOVE IT!! Anyway, he thought it was hilarious. And then he pointed to Andy's Beatles shirt and said that they have a lot of Beatles in Agrabah.....Andy just pointed out it wouldn't be spelled "Beatles" it would be spelled "Beetles" but really..... who cares....Obviously Andy does...
Anywhoo, our picture with Aladdin
Stitch was scheduled to be out in the atrium next so we waited for him. Andy was awesome and got some awesomely amazing BLURRY PICTURES!!! Sheesh.... it was a great moment too. Stitch and I were checking out the ornaments on the tree.... and then we danced...
This one is sort of salvageable...
We headed on down to the gangway, which was still roped off. We waited about 10 minutes maybe and then they let us off. We didn't know what to expect in Nassau. But we wanted to at least experience another country....
Here we are off fresh of the boat..
And a typically touristy shot:
This one is one of my favs
And then one of the boat...
So we wandered around.....got harassed..... and wandered around some more. Lots of shops.... And this mom and daughter that we ended up seeing every where we turned. They must've been on my wavelength b/c first we saw them on the street near a bunch of shops.... then we saw them in the Coach store with us.... then we got behind them again in the Straw Market.... it was just funny. And that pretty much tells you where we went in Nassau... Up a few streets, down a few streets, then back on the boat....
I took like 3 pictures... for real.... can you believe it???
See....three pictures But that last one.... HILARIOUS!! Where's Andy???
So we were back on board before lunch. I did buy a hat for my dad in the Straw Market for Christmas b/c I knew my dad would get a kick out of that. But that's about it......The old lady that I bought the hat from was like "You want a hat?" and I told her it was for my dad and I was trying to decide which one he would like and she goes "How old your dad?" (you have to imagine it with the island accent) and I tell her "62" and she goes "Oh, he like any of these hats....all these hats good" Yeah......I don't think so....... but I did decide on a black one that was denimy looking with Bahamas on it. He liked it when I gave it to him for Christmas...so I guess the old lady was right
We went up to the pool deck to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I was feeling like crap b/c of the night before..... I had only had like 2 drinks but the motion had just made me feel like I had been trashed. And after being trashed all Melissa wants is a cheeseburger.... and that was the feeling I had that day. So we got some burgers from Pinocchio's and I found a seat by the window.... out of the wind....
Andy obviously got tired of having his picture made...
Grooooossss
After lunch we decided to go and put our bathing suits on and actually try out the adult pool.... even though we were freezing out there b/c of the wind....
You can see how I ended up:
You see those pants... that's like the next to last time you're ever gonna see them... I shall return to that story later in the TR
We had a fantastic waiter by the bar. Shri was his name. He introduced himself, asked our names, and talked to us the whole time. He talked to Andy about his Beatles tattoo and the Indian design he has around it. We were very impressed with the customer service thus far
Andy actually got in the pool for like a second....but got right back out. And then we decided to hit the hot tub once we saw a group take their bottle of champagne with them.......If they could do that then I could take my drink with me....
After relaxing in the hot tub we got out to dry off... and none other than Captain Hook himself came around the adult pool!!
I told him he'd be very handy to have around to open some beers...... and then some drunk folks up above on deck 10 called him Captain Morgan and he shook his hook at them We just thought it was hilarious that the characters came around the adult pool, too. That's great b/c there are adults like us that love the characters, too!!
After that we went back to the room to change clothes.. we had signed up for the beer tasting that morning and our time was approaching. We made our way to Diversions just in time. I think they were just starting... and how do you like this... it was my choice to do this and the group was made up of two middle aged dudes, one old dude, and Andy... and me. Nice right? Not unusual though for me to be the only chick. I grew up being the only chick hanging out with Andy and all his friends. I discovered girls are too finicky and guys are easier to get along with Anyway, the beer tasting was great. We had a guy from New Zealand (cue our love of Flight of the Conchords) and we learned a bit....all of which has been forgotten of course. How do they expect you to learn anything while they feed you alcohol?????
Anyway, we had five beers to try..... I took a picture of Andy with ALL our glasses to make him look like an alky...
We discovered our newfound love of Boddingtons... (remember my love of anything British???) So after the tasting you got a free beer of your favorite....so on top of the five nice sized tasting glasses we got a free beer.
After the tasting we decided to take our free beers and we headed up to deck 7 aft to our little secret area. Again we were the only ones out there...
We then decided to meander around some more. We headed towards deck 4. On the way I spotted one of my TAG Stitch magnets on a deck 7 door! Somebody had actually moved it!!
I thought that was the coolest thing!
On deck 4 we discovered shuffle board.....
Andy was a little overzealous and I had to run down to the end to catch his puck (?) b/c he hit it so freaking hard......
Andy likes that picture b/c it has the "puck" in the "off" box Put it together yourself people
An action shot....
And a relaxation shot..
These were the BEST chairs in the WORLD!!! We relaxed more in those chairs than anywhere on the boat!
After a while we decided to head back up to the pool deck and see what was going on. On the way we saw Snow White in the art gallery/shop..
And then a couple self shots up there...
And we meandered around and spotted the crew's pool
And then we hung out some more by the adult pool.... ordered another drink from Shri
And Chip and Dale came by!! We were up on Deck 10 but when they came by the pool I went running down there. I those two!!
I have no idea what I said in this next sequence of pictures...but apparently it was funny....
After those pictures this British lady by the pool had spotted my mickey ear tattoos and asked me where I got them.... as in she was assuming they were fake and I got them on the boat. I responded by telling her they were "mine" and I got them in "Charlotte" I think we had a conversation about if they hurt and then I showed them Stitch on my back. And then I'm sure they realized they were talking to a complete Disney freak
After that we headed back up to finish our beers. Then it was time to head back to our room to get ready for dinner and the Pirate party!!!
Hooray - an update!! I think maybe DH and I will sign up for the beer tasting. Considering that my boys have pretty much given me the brush off for the ship. Nick (DS5) told me that he WILL be spending most of his time in the kids club. I said something about him going to a show with us, and he said "well, I can go to the club, and then you can see the show. Isn't that good?!?"
I am glad that you found time to continue your story, and I really hope that by this point, you were loving the cruise. Can't wait for more!

Great update! Very cool that you saw so many characters - we must've been on another planet during our Disney Cruise because I don't think we found as many characters the entire time as you did that afternoon.
Great update! What a full day you've had so far! I'm surprised at how many characters you've found wandering around the ship. Too funny about the woman and your Mickey tatoos How many are you up to now, anyway? Looking forward to more
Glad someone took a Tag Stitch magnet. We took a roaming gnome one from someones door and later we heard a little girl outside our room stop and say, "Someone finally took it!" She sounded so happy but then it was gone by morning so it must have kept roaming. Glad you were feeling better today.

it's about learning to dance in the rain.
Welcome back ! Like how the characters seem to be just strolling around the decks. Glad to hear the beer tasting was good. One more thing to entice the hubby to go on a cruise.
