As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Hi all...
My DH and I are going to be in Disney and want to spend a day at Universal Friday December 19 (just before the masses arrive). Is there enough to do there for one day or should we get the 2 park package? We like some roller coasters but are happy on attraction rides as well. Any advice would be great... oh... we are okay with opening and closing the park without a break! Has anyone paid the extra money for the express passes?

its certainly possible during value seasons, I rode almost everything I wanted last year inculding coasters, on my first trip to US/IOTA in one day! 8am to 6 pm! open to close I did start with IOTA because IOTA's the newer park and thus going to be more popular at evening. I were done with IOTA by 11 am, went over to US, rode jimmy neutron, saw twister, and mummy's revenge before settling down for a hot dog lunch at the jaws area. when I were done with US at 4:50 I made a beeline to IOTA again to ride spiderman again, unfortunately I weren't able to get to jurassic park to reride before it closed hmm I probably could have if I didn't shop at the comic book store right by spiderman! :P
I did avoid all the wetting down rides because it were a cool day, too cool to be soaked 20 miles away from your resort!
When are you going? During non-peak times, I'd say sure you could possibly do it. During peak times, Not without missing a lot. To get the most out of it at ANY time, I'd give it 2 days.
You might hit all the major rides once in one day by commando touring, but you'll miss out on enjoying the fantastic theming in IOA. I think you need two days to enjoy both parks and see all the shows. Trust me, once you get off the Hulk Coaster, Spiderman, Men in Black, you'll want to do them again!
If you do go the one day/two park route, take advantage of the single rider's lines everywhere it is offered.
I enjoyed the fanatasic theming, I didn't rush in particular. I took the time to look at the comic book island, JP, mythical island, and especially seuss! but you have to keep moving, so a slow pace and scanning works wonders for sightseeing!
We are going for one day next day and I purchased the one day two park tickets. My DD is DYING for Jurassic Park. Should I head for that attraction first and then target what everyone wants to do? Somebody else told me that there is no way I'll see all of the 2 parks in a single day.

I think to enjoy it & take in everything you would need 2 days. You miss alot rushing from 1 thing to the next trying to get it all in one day. I would think it becomes more of a chore & less fun, the constant rushing. But it can be done.
Personally, I would suggest taking two days if you want to get the most out of both parks and not find yourself rushing around frantically just trying to cram everything in.

I've almost always done both parks in one day. The last two trips I've spent the money on the Universal Express passes and it's expensive but worth it. You can do both parks TWICE in one day with Universal Express.

basically you are right 2 adults no kids you can do all the rides in both parks but did you also hit the show as well and as well enjoy it and take pictures too . that is a dream for me with 2 kids me and dw . i really miss those days of being able to do that 2 parks 1 day good luck adventurer.

I do some shows, not all. I've never been a picture guy, but my girlfriend definitely is. The problem is Islands of Adventure. It's one of my favorite parks in the world because of the quality of their rides, but the quantity is sooooo low that one day is way too much for that park. USF can have a nice long day of rides, shows, roaming, picture taking, etc..
I just paid for a 2 park 1 day pass but the day we went rained so badly we got there late and only did USF. We did everything in 4 hours because the park was absolutely empty. We all got bored riding simulator after simulator. I think you need to do both parks to have fun.
