Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

My kid won't eat veggies and the Sneaky Chef didn't work...

I need some help. 12yo is pretty good about eating different veggies, but 9yo is a carbon copy of 19yo. She used to eat salad, but a bad experience at Turf Club at SSR has put her off of it. I've tried EVERYTHING. Cheese, ranch dressing, hiding it, cooked, raw, V8 Fusion, etc, I cannot get her to consume a non-starchy vegetable. We did broccoli tonight and I used to be able to get her to eat a few small "trees", but not tonight. She gagged and nearly threw up. I have horrible memories of my brother throwing up after being forced to eat something he didn't like and the consequences (TMI) were such that I swore I would never make my kids eat something that made them gag.

I'm at a loss. Hubby wants to make her sit at the table until she eats the veggies, but I won't do that. I'm tempted to just let her eat fruit instead, but she needs the good stuff from the veggies, too. Any ideas?

No real advice but one of my brothers was like that growing up. Now he's the opposite way. He only eats healthy food and his DD's were never allowed to even eat candy at home. My mom making him sit at the table until he ate his vegetables. It didn't work because he was more stobborn that her. He sat there until bedtime and still wouldn't eat them.

My friend just started this company and from talking to her she has had some
great results with her kids. Even though this game is geared to younger kids,
I would think it would work with most any child. Oh and the boy pictured is Dean
her son. I plan on buying this for Ellie (furture use) and for several DN's and DN's that
REALLY need help!

Description:
The educational game that uses fun to help establish healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime is finally here! Freggie Kidz is made up of activities that are designed to peak a child's interest and stir up some excitement about eating fruits and veggies...."freggies." Are you ready for excitement in the produce section?

Give her a good multi vitamin/mineral, get her to help with the cooking, don't make a big deal out of it and do NOT force her to eat it if she doesn't want to. To this day 30+ years later just the smell of brussel sprouts makes me feel sick this is the result of my father forcing me to eat them when I was little. If you you have time/space maybe you could start a small herb/veggie garden as part of your homeschool activities.

Dont force the child. Give them a good multi vitamin and move on. Not eatting veggies is not that big of a deal. I am 30 + years old and have only ever eatten veggies 3 times in my life and that was only to make my grandmother happy so that i could go swimming and only then it was only like 2 green beans. I am just fine making it with no veggies.

I am sure that once you show her that it is no biggie and put them on the plate one day she will start eatting them again. You said that she had a bad exparence once with a salad...have you tried to explan to her that sometimes you get bad food? That if she was to get say bad ice cream or bad candy would she stop eatting that? I would pull her aside and talk to her about it with out hubby's or your other children's input with your talk with her?

Good Luck!!!!

I had an idea this evening...this is the kid who does AMAZING things with clay/fondant (and mashed potatoes ) I'm thinking I may have her start "designing" salads for us. She can choose the different things and create them on plates with eyes, noses, mouths, etc...I wonder if that might at least get her back in salad mode! My FIL grows amazing lettuces and she loves to help him with it, so I'll try to make that her new mission.

I do give her a good multi-vitamin, but hubby just can't get past the not eating veggies..."you can't get good nutrition from a PILL"

I eventually outgrew it and I figure my DD will too. The only veggie she eats (other than ketchup and french fries!) is broccoli and DH and I can only stand so much of that.
The first time I ever ate a cooked carrot I was in law school -- a friend of my parents was a sales rep, in town and took me to dinner. I knew what he was paying for my plate so I ate the things when they showed up.

Definitely make sure she's taking a kid's vitamin each day.

Have your tried Veggie Bootie (spelling?)....a snack "chip" made with veggies. Kids seem to love them.

My kids also love soybeans (Edame) for snacking. Have you tried that?

Cole Slaw? Will she eat that on BBQ?

Let her go through the vegetable section of the store and pick out something she's willing to eat. Maybe something will look good to her in the store. Let her cook it the way she wants it.

Hope some of this helps.

I definitely would not pursue making her stay at the table until she eats veggies. That NEVER works. Kids have strong wills.

Jessica Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfelds wife, has a cook book out that has hidden veggies in her cooking. She makes a puree and uses them to cook with. Something to check out.

As long as she is getting a vitamin and some fiber in her diet, she'll be fine. My dd is the same. There is NOT ONE veggie she will eat except the occasional carrot stick.

I still put them on her plate, but I don't force her to eat them. If it's something new, I ask her to try it. It's more the texture than the taste I think. If you bury them in dressing, look at the fat content - that's not healthy either.

Just cross your fingers and hope that eventually she will grow to like her veggies. That's what I'm hoping!!

The salad designing is a GREAT idea Dawn!! She may enjoy eating her creations. I also agree with DH - mulivitimans are not a substitute as she will miss things like the fiber and such but it is something for now. Sometimes with kids it is a consisitency thing - I found Luke likes his veggies cooked to almost the mushy point ()but at least then he'll eat them. I prefer my veggies raw or slightly steamed. I wouldn't force her either - that does no good to a child psychologically at all. Just keep trying, different ways and at different times and one day she get hooked on something I think. They say a child has to try something at least 10 different times before they actually know whether or not they truly like or dislike it. I've also found that foods they've eaten for years that they suddenly won't touch and visa versa. Just keep tryin - you're doing the right thing

How about salsa? The fresh and healthful kind (instead of the stuff from a jar) is packed with all kinds of veggies. Some kids who won't touch a VEGATABLE are ok with salsa.

How about finely chopped vegatables in sauce for macaroni - I make it all the time and the kids love it (even my I hate vegatables one), I also make mashed potatoes with califlower mixed in - she can never tell and she loves it.
