As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

IF...
So I was sorting through some old books this morning (Spring cleaning) and found this neat coffee table book called "If". It's full of If... questions and some of them made me curious. Besides, we can be a nosy bunch when it comes to getting to know you questions...
So...
If...you could be a performer in the circus, which would you choose to be?
If...you could regain total memory of one year of your life, which year would it be and why?
If...you could "unknow" one thing you know, what would it be?
I'd be the Ringmaster (no chance of falling or being eaten by a tiger - I'm a coward! ).
I'd want to remember the year after I was born, from my birth to my first birthday - when my parents were still newlyweds, before they separated. Just wish I could remember what it was like to be part of a "normal" family.
I'd want to "unknow" about Santa. I was heartbroken when I found out (when I was 6).

Re: IF...
Neat topic!
I would be a trapeze artist or maybe a gymnast of some kind--looks soo cool to be able to do!

I think the year before my mom got sick (I was around 12) because I don't really remember what it was like before she got sick and she was sick until she died when I was 16.
I am not sure what I would "unknow". Santa is a good one though.

Re: IF...
Cool topic Beaner!
I would be either the Ringmaster or an animal trainer.
I would want total recall of the year from ages 1 to 2.
I can't say what I would want to unknow, but believe me you wouldn't want to know it either!

Re: IF...
Interesting question...
1. I'd want to either walk the tightrope or perform on the flying trapeize. Being the klutz that I am this is completely removed from real life as I know it.
2. When I was four. I have vague memories of how wonderful kindergarten was: no worries, neverending playtime capped off by a nap and snacktime every afternoon. Could life get any better than that?!
3. The importance of $$. I grew up rather sheltered in a really small town, so I was old enough to remember realizing that money had tangible value--both in and of itself and also as a means to status. It was quite a disappointment.

Re: IF...
Excellent topic!
1. I want to be the guy who gets shot out of the cannon! Everyone knows I'm a daredevil so that would be a great rush!
2. I'd like to regain memory from life when I was 4 years old - right before my paternal grandfather died. I have very vague memories of him and never really got to know him. I'd love to remember more about him.
3. Honestly, I'd like to unknow 9/11, although it did change the way I look at life and was the foundation of me leaving corporate America to start my business. But I like the idea of unknowing the whole Santa deal, too.

Re: IF...
Unfortunately, I was the youngest of three kids...my brother had me helping him hunt for presents in mom's closet before I could talk. I don't EVER remember believing in Santa.

Re: IF...
1. I'd like to be the RingMaster... Ah, the center of it all for me!
2. I'd like to remember the year between two and three years old. We lived in Maryland then, and I vaguely remember things being very "nice," so it would be good.
3. I'd like to "unknow" racial prejudice. The town I live in has some serious... issues.. So, I got to grow up here, watching people hate. I've never understood it, or seen it as bad as it is here (Yes, I know it's worse some places, but I haven't lived in any of them.); so, I at least wish I didn't have to know it's still this bad some places.
Anyhoo.. Great questions.

Re: IF...
Cool topic!
1. I'd be any kind of animal trainer.
2. I don't want total recall of any year -- our memories tend to "soften" the bad things and make the good things seem even better.
3. What do you mean about Santa?? Is there something he hasn't told me???

Re: IF...
I would be one of those acrobats that ride on the back of the horses. I have always been horse crazy, and I think that would be fun and exciting.
I would like to go back to anytime before I was 9. My Mom died right after I turned 9, of cancer, and I don't really remember her. Could I go back and have the memories I have now? So I could ask questions and get to know her??
Not sure what I would want to unknow. I like other's answers..9/11, Santa...hmmm, good question.

Re: IF...
Interesting questions.
I think I'd like to be an acrobat. It would be nice to be able to touch my toes.
I'd like to relive 1997. I got engaged and my brother and I went to Disney. It was our last trip before he was diagnosed with cancer.
I'm not sure of what I'd like to unknow.

I'd be the Lion and Tiger Trainer. I love cats - big and small!
I'd want to remember either the year I was 5 or the year I met my husband.
I'd like to unknow how cruel people can be.
Really great topic!

Re: IF...
Great question
1. I want to be the lady that rides on the Elephants
2. I really do not know that there are any years I would want to relive. If I went back to say, the year I got preg. with my first, (I was 16), I might try to change it and then I would not have her and be very
3. To unknow- tie- how my parents and grandparents got children, or, that my dad was not supposed to live to see me be 5 (I am 35, and he visited yesterday)

Re: IF...

I would be one of the 50 clowns that pile out of that teeny tiny little car...hehe!
If...you could regain total memory of one year of your life, which year would it be and why?
Age 3 to 4...I love kids that age now, so, I would really like to remember that and see what I was like then.
If...you could "unknow" one thing you know, what would it be?
That the world is not always as nice a place as I thought it was when I was young.
