The Fantastic Five Family Furlough Disneyland Report - Updated 3/6 **Complete** - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hope you get to visit your sister in Japan and experience Disneyland Tokyo!
My sister and I are on the phone right now, checking out the Tokyo Disney site! It looks like so much fun!! And she is making me so jealous, because she just got done saying that she will be there THIS SUMMER!

After our lunch at Blue Bayou, we headed out and were able to cut past a HUGE line for Indiana Jones. I FP!!! In that queue, there is a portion where they split guests into two lines, but you are standing almost literally shoulder to shoulder with the people in the other line. By now, Lisa had figured out exactly what those YOMD FP’s were, and we both wanted one! :rightnow: We happened to be standing right next to some people that had the beautiful blue passes hanging from their necks, so after some loud stage whispering between Lisa and myself, she struck up a conversation and asked where they had gotten them. The lady told my sister that they had just been walking along one of the less busy paths by Cindy’s castle, and CM’s were just standing there handing them out to everyone who walked by! It killed me the whole weekend, because all of these people were walking around being granted Dreams, and they had no idea what they were! Whereas I, being the avid Passporter that I am, knew exactly what they were and was green with jealousy because I wanted one!! Oh well. We still had a wonderful weekend together, even without YOMD!
Morgan hated Indiana Jones, and she had a death grip on Kaitlyn’s arm the entire ride. And they had the front seat! We figured we had better take her on something a little more tame. It was a funny weekend. Normally, Morgan is the daredevil, and Madison is the ‘fraidy cat. This time, however, Madison was loving all of the big ticket attractions, and Morgan…not so much. So, off to the Jungle Cruise we went. On the way, there was a man who had lost his daughter, also named Madison. He was standing there, holding one child, and yelling for his Madison. You could just hear the terror in his voice. The crowd just parted around him like a sea. Lisa (she is the Vice Principal of a middle school in California) jumped into action and got the little girl’s description. She just took off and started looking for her. It wasn’t 5 minutes later when the daddy found his little girl. All of the moms in the area got very teary-eyed, watching the dad hugging his daughter. Morgan, who had been holding my hand the entire time, looked up at me and said “Mamie, our Madison is with Mommy, right? I don’t want to lose our Madison!” Oh my gosh, I just had tears running down my face, imagining how scared he must have been!

So, crisis thankfully averted, we got into the Jungle Cruise line. It looked fairly long, but I think we probably waited 10 minutes. This is so corny, but still so fun! The girls had a great time! And my favorite line in this attraction…”the back of water!”

The girls wanted to go check out ToonTown, so we headed that way next.
On the way, we saw Mary Poppins giving a performance in front of the castle. We stopped to watch for a little bit. Morgan loves Mary Poppins! The last time we were at DL, she had a magical moment in Fantasyland with her, where Mary taught Morgan how to dance!

We thought we would try to get on IASW, but the line was 60 minutes!! Sheesh, forget that! We wandered into TownTown, with the intention of seeing the Mouse Houses. They were both closed! I couldn’t believe it. This was the first trip in forever that I haven’t seen Mickey or Minnie once during the entire time!! We spent a good amount of time in the 5 and Dime shop. It is Kaitlyn’s favorite store in all of DL (even more so than DTD!) We purchased a few souvenirs, and then Madison and I went to stand in line for Barnstormer. The wait was 40 minutes, though, and Lisa and Kaitlyn decided that they didn’t want to wait. We needed to leave the park by 3pm for me to get to the Ontario airport to catch my flight back to Phoenix. That meant we had time for one more line. And we spent it waiting for my first ever Dole Whip!

Okay, I thought it was disgusting. Now, don’t get mad and throw anything at me. I liked the pineapple juice, but with the pineapple flavored ice-cream…I just thought it was too much. I would have liked it much better if I could have gotten vanilla ice cream with the pineapple juice. I could have sworn that I read about Passporters getting different flavors of ice cream. But when I asked, the CM told us that that was not an option. Kaity loved it, though, and it's a good thing. She got to eat it! Well, I am glad I got to try it, and I can now say with conviction that the next time we have a poll, I am voting for the Mickey bar!!

We wandered up Main Street. We stopped in at the Silhouette Studios, the place where they make silhouettes. It was really neat. I told Kaity to take her hair down, but the lady told her that the silhouette would come out better if she left her hair up. Kaitlyn sat in a chair with her profile to the CM, and she cut out Kaity’s image. She was done in no time flat! It really is an old-timey, neat souvenir that was really inexpensive. It only cost $16, including the frame. The coolest part was that you also get a second silhouette, and I put this one in Kaitlyn’s baby book. They can even make these silhouettes with your child and a character, like Mickey, but we did not choose to do that. When Lisa realized that the CM running the register was from Japan, she immediately struck up a conversation and asked her to teach them some Japanese! Educators, always the perpetual student!

Right at the main hub, we saw Cruella DeVille. She was fabulous!! Her faces were hysterical! Every single time she would pose for a picture with a guest, she would make the worst, most contorted faces that she could manage. There was a little Spanish girl in front of our kids in line, and she was teeny. She just did not know what to make of Cruella, and with the language barrier, I don’t think the dad understood all of what was going on. She was mean and spiteful and funny and cool, all at the same time! That little girl was just precious, and I am sure their pictures came out great! Our girls were a little older, and they still weren’t quite sure why all of the adults were cracking up! Of course, my 14 yo was too cool to pose with any of the characters this trip. I am disappointed about this, because I have no character pictures of her this time!

I cut off Cruella’s head…I am so mad!

We made our way out of Disneyland, to the hotel shuttle, and back to Lisa’s van. We were in the car for not five minutes when I took my favorite pictures of the entire trip!! Ready?? …
Madison
Morgan, Madison (in the back) and Kaitlyn (Kaity tried to be such a cool teenager the whole trip, but it's hard to be when your face is smooshed against the seatbelt! ) (Kaity is REALLY mad at me for posting this picture! )
I have pictures like from every single trip, and it never gets any less funny to me!!! We just run these kids until they pass out from exhaustion!
We said goodbye to Lisa and the girls at Ontario airport. They called us even before we boarded the plane to let us know that they were just getting home, safe and sound. It was an uneventful flight back to Phoenix.
Our plane back to Phoenix
Thank you for sticking around for my first ever trip report! I appreciate all of your encouragement. It has been so fun to document everything for my Passporter friends!
The weather was a little more overcast today, but still very nice. The best thing today was my new favorite – Space Mountain! The worst thing today was the man losing his Madison , and not getting to see either Mickey or Minnie Mouse this whole trip! Today we tried Blue Bayou and Dole Whips for the first time! And the result was glad we got to experience them The most magical moment today was all of us just having SO MUCH FUN on Space Mountain…we were all pumped afterward!

Amy, your trip report is wonderful (I've only just come across it as I always forget to look down here!).
You have definitely whet my appetite for Disneyland. Can you believe that when we were in LA I didn't bother going? I've kicked myself for years since.
Thanks so much for sharing. An excellent first report .
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us - I've loved reading every word of it and I can't believe it's your first report! I hope there'll be many more to come in the future!
