Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Karen, I'm glad to see you've started your TR. I can't wait to hear about your trip. I hope that Matt catches the Disney bug and you all have a wonderful trip. And here's some more travel pixes for you

Re: The \'Ohana - means family - means no-one gets left behind\' trip report. PRE-TRIP

[b] Ok. I confess. I’m guilty of over planning. As soon as I had booked my trip I realised, horror of horrors, that I was already inside the 180 day threshold. So I did a bit of research, worked out where I wanted to dine and emailed my wonderful TA with my plans (great idea; saves on international calls )

Within a day I had a list of ADRs – exactly what I wanted – result, yay.

Except that my plans have changed a hundred times since. I didn’t have the face to keep hassling Marion the TA, so I must have made at least six calls,at great expense, changing and changing and changing again. My current ADRs bear no resemblance to the original ones.

Having read, marked and inwardly digested the contents of my PassPorter I was looking for some new reading material and decided to fork out the moolah and subscribe to Tour Guide Mike. I could tell you what he advises but I’d have to shoot you . I actually got some decent advice from his site, but to be fair to TGM I have to say that my plans don’t reflect his recommendations. Let’s just say we have a difference of opinion about EMHs.

Anyhow these are my plans:

Friday 25th March

We catch our flight from Manchester at 11.20am. It will be on time because there is absolutely not allowed to be any delays on this, my perfect trip. On check in I will be given a free upgrade to the premier cabin with a great seat pitch, copious amounts of free wine and an onboard nanny to look after my children . Actually I’m back in the real world I’ll settle for a timely departure.

We’ll pick up our rental car at Sanford. I’ve never flown into Sanford before but rumour has it that you can be at WDW just as quickly as from MCO as the airport is smaller and processes far fewer people . Or maybe that is UK sales pitch to convince you to buy cruddy charter flights. We shall see.

We’re booked into a standard room, so I’ll use by best charm school skills to see if I can bag a free upgrade. If we can’t we’ll check out our room and if not to our liking we’ll see if we can pay to upgrade.

No parks tonight as we’ll be bushwhacked. I’d like to head to Downtown Disney to upgrade our tickets to annual passes and to buy Kat a Pal Mickey which I mentioned in passing 3 months ago and which Kat has asked reminded me about at least 5 times a day since. Quite what the Security Services will make of an electronic stuffed Mickey with transmitter device is anybody’s guess.

We’ll grab an Earl of Sandwich or Roaring Forks and then to bed.

For the rest of the week our plans are essentially to get to morning EMH (gotta take advantage of that jetlag), spend morning in the parks, rest in the afternoon and return to the parks late afternoon.

Saturday 26th March

It’s EMH at MGM this morning so we’re going to spend the day there. I have ADRs at the Wilderness Canyon Café, but if I can get into ESPN Club, I’m going to try it out there as Matt will love it. We’ll return to MGM later.

Sunday 27th March

Morning will be spent at the Little Ones EMH at MK; the afternoon at Epcot FW as we have ressies at the Garden Grill.

Monday 28th March

We’ll be at Animal Kingdom in the morning. In the evening we have ADRs at Le Cellier. I can’t wait for this one.

Tuesday 29th March

It’s EMH at Epcot, so we’ll spend a couple of hours there. I’ve booked Kat into Bibbity Bobbity Boutique in the afternoon in readiness for our ADR at 1900 Park Fare this evening.

Wednesday 30th March

We’ll take advantage of another Little Ones EMH . We have a ADR at Boma tonight, so we’ll spend some time round the AKL. We’ve been before but Matt hasn’t and I think he’ll enjoy it. I’m not sure whether we’ll head back to the Animal Kingdom as it’s evening EMH. Depending on how we feel we might play mini golf or head to the campfire program at Fort Wilderness.

Thursday 31st March

I really want today to be special with it being the penultimate day. I have the penultimate day blues. No idea why, but I always seem to do everything I want to do in the first five days, then spend day six stressing about the journey home. Anyhow, this is not going to happen this trip . I’ve planned lots of wonderful things.

In the morning, we’re going to MK. OK, it’ll be packed because it’s EMH but we’re doing the Family Magic Tour. I’m so looking forward to this. I just hope Kat doesn’t play up as there seems to be a fair bit of walking.

We’re hoping to have lunch in the Kona Café before doing some shopping in the afternoon. I have a long list of items I can only get in the States including A1 Steak Sauce, Kraft Mac n Cheese, Unisom sleep gels (trust me there’s nothing similar here), industrial quantities of Tylenol, Abercrombie stuff for Matt, Gymboree clothes for Kat………whew.

We’re then going to try to get to the DVC Block Party at Pleasure Island, but we’ll only be there for the briefest time because we have seats at Cirque at 6.00pm. After Cirque I’d love to take Matt to the Adventurers’ Club, but it depend on how tired we are.

Friday 1st September.

We’re going to spend our last day at MGM. We have Sci Fi Diner lunchtime ressies. Then it’s home.

So that’s all folks. What do you think?

Sounds fantastic! I agree with you on EMHs. We like to go to them whenever we can, and when the park gets packed we leave! I LOVE the idea of taking Kat to BBB before 1900PF. How memorable for her to be all made up for Cinderella!

Your plans look great! Looking forward to reading all about it. I'm sure Matt will come around....that Disney magic will take hold & you won't even recognize him. My 16 yr old nephew swore he would not hold my hand while we were in the world (this is a requirement for my DS13 -hee hee-, as I could never get him to do this at home....I don't blame him actually). Anyway, within a day or so, my nephew was grabbing for my hand like he did when he was small. He also made many, many references to Disney magic throughout his stay. So, don't worry.....it's contagious....it will happen!

Your plans look great. I did BBB with my DD before we went to 1900 Park Faire for dinner(Yes, she is 15, but you are never to old to be a princess). She looked beautiful. I hope you have a great trip and I can't wait to read your trip report.
