As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
I have shopping to do and a wedding to attend on Saturday, a Cub Scout pack meeting on Sunday combined with their Halloween party, a hayride/pumpkin patch field trip tomorrow, alterations on my 3 year old's Addie dress (Alice in Wonderland costume) and then maybe I can start packing! And don't get me started about laundry!
I know everything will get done, but...
Any other procrastinators out there?

Re: Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
I don't have the excuse of an upcoming vacation (or that to look forward to) and my life is still an apalling mess. My office is taking on the "piles of paper" motif, and my house wouldn't be much better if it weren't for Irene (comes this Tuesday, thank God). I realized how bad I was getting last Sunday when grocery shopping I decided to stop shopping like someone who was going to actually cook something and face up to the fact that the two food groups are frozen and takeout.
When I was growing up my mother had homemade bread every day and snacks waiting after school...I can barely feed my cats and DH. Janet, I'm in awe that there are people in the world like you that still find the time to make costumes and go to cub scout meetings.
Sorry, I know I'm whining but it's been a horrible couple of weeks and the next few months aren't going to be any better.
September
P.S. Can I sneak into your suitcase? I really need a vacation.

Re: Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
September, if you'll come to my house and help with the chores, I would definitely consider a stow away. Hubby is outside right now raking leaves that were on the tree yesterday and he's filled 6 bags. He has 2 squashers to help (squasher: fill bag to capacity, lift 3 yr old into bag, out of bag, into bag, to squash and continue to fill bag) And I did NOT make the costume, I couldn't sew if my life depended on it!

(Jumping up and down and waving wildly.)
Me! Me!
Procrastination is the name of the game!!
(Hence the reason I'm up on these message boards instead of grading spelling tests!!)
We don't leave until December 7, but have I done anything except book the package? Nope! No PS's, no Tour ressies, nada. *sigh*
September, I totally understand what you're going through!! Ended up working my tail off Saturday and Sunday just to catch up. I'm really thinking that having someone come in, if only once a week, would be a great stress reliever!
Sending Procrastinator Pixie Dust to both of you...

Re: Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
Janet,
this will make you laugh. I packed for my daughter and myself in June. (bought all new stuff) made my daughter's Halloween costume in early October, and made a very deer friend plan her wedding (which I help cater and did all the decorations for the reception) around my Disney trip. (She was tha last person I went to Disney with) All in all, I'm just sitting back waiting for the hours to tick by so I can just jump in the van an GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Do you want to slap me) LOL PS I did the laundry last weekend and have been making DH wear the same clothes to work all week long. All I have to do now is go to work and fake it til 11:30 Friday (like they don't know what mode I'm on). Have a great trip!!!

Re: Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
We leave in 9 days and I thought I was doing pretty well as far as being organized. After all I've made my list of things to bring, written out an itinerary, written out pet care instructions etc. I should just have to throw a few things together and I'll be ready, right? Then I started thinking...in order to pack I have to do the laundry first. The last time I checked there were 2 enormous stacks of clothes waiting to be sorted and washed. (Where's that fairy godmother when you need her? )Because we'll be gone for almost 2 weeks, I need to make sure all the bills are paid ahead of time. This means I have to balance my checkbook and then weed through all of the mail to find the bills in order to pay them. DD needs a note to take to her teachers to let them know we will be gone, and of course I haven't written that yet. In order to pack, we of course have to have suitcases, so need to locate them from where I stored them after our last trip. Of course, there is the trip to bank for travelers checks and rolls of coins for the pressed coin machines; the trip to the grocery for snacks and drinks for the trip, the trip to the drug store for prescription refills and a trip to AAA for maps of Orlando. Natually I still have days at work to get through (5 in a row through the weekend). Having said this, I feel like I need a month to get ready for our trip 9 days from now! Once down there, I know it will all have been worth it!

Re: Holey Moley, I leave in just 6 days!
We leave in 9 days and I haven't even started to pack. My DD(9)keeps asking me when we'll pack.
I made a list, so at least I know what I want to take!
