Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: ABC\'s of Itinerary Building!

Ok...I was wondering if maybe someone could help me alittle bit since I am new to WDW...here is my plans so far.

On the first day I arrive I will check in about 4:00...get settled and take the kids to Planet Hollywood for dinner and visit downtown for the evening. I figured we wouldn't do that park thing this day since we were traveling two days on the road and need some down time.

Second day we were planning on going half a day to Typhoon and half day to Blizzard...then to the airport early and half dinner at Chili's...waiting to pick up my mom and sister.

Third day we are going to Magic Kingdom...having dinner at Crystal Palace. Magic hours are in the evening this day.

Fourth day is Animal Kingdom with lunch at the Rainforest Cafe...then at 6:00 head over to Wilderness Lodge for dinner at the Whispering Canyon. Magic hours are in the monring here.

Fifth day is Epcot day...dinner at the San Angel Inn. Magic hours on this day are in the evening.

Sixth day is MGM with lunch at the Sci Fi Dinner and dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Magic hours are again in the eveing.

Seventh day is Magic Kingdom in the morning since there is extra hours then and Epcot in the afternoon. We will have a 5:00 Hoop Dee Doo time and then one last stop for another look at the parade and fireworks at Magic Kingdom for my mom and sister since they leave tomorrow to go home.

Eighth day is to the airport then back with kids to MGM and dinner at Mama Melrose. Magic hours in the evening.

Ninth day is Epcot with dinner at the Coral Reef. Magic hours again in the evening.

Tenth day is Magic Kingdom with Dinner at Tony's Towne Square...then off to Cirque Du Sil at 6:00...then back to Magic Kingdom for a last look at the parade and fireworks since we leave tomorrow.

Last day in Disney...thought we might have a breakfast at the crystal palace as a send off but haven't planned this part out yet...wasn't sure if it was worth it or not.

Planning on going out of park to stay and visit with family going to Universal for two days...this is not planned out just yet.

So what do you think of my plans so far...please feel free to add or subtract anything...I am up for any suggestions!

I have a 15 year old girl and 11 year old Autistic (high functioning) boy going with me. Husband is not coming...he is staying home to watch doggies...unfortunately he doesn't like Disney but is sending us on this trip and a gift. Mom and sister are meeting up with us...they have been to Disney several times but are leaving plans up to me since we have never been.

Thanks to all in advance!

Re: ABC\'s of Itinerary Building!

First, Welcome to the Boards! You'll find that this is a very friendly place, and in no time at all, you should feel right at home.

Secondly, I think that you'll get a much better response to your question if you post your message in the Planning Your Adventure: Your Plans forum, since more people tend to visit that one. I, personally, think your plans look fine! And you're sure to have a fabulous time!! I'm envious...I won't be going back to WDW (Walt Disney World) until December.

BTW, one of my grandsons was born in the hospital in Florence...or as the watertower says: "Florence Y'all".

Re: ABC\'s of Itinerary Building!

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but I haven't been to WDW since 1986 when I was 11, so here goes. If I arrive on Sunday, our earliest flight puts us at WDW around 1 or 1:30 by the time we take the shuttle, and my 2 year old will need a nap by that time, she will get up around 4:00, so I figured I'd go to Downtown Disney and get some dinner, then watch the fireworks. Do I need a park ticket to get into Downtown Disney? Can I save some money by getting a 4 day ticket (M - Th) instead of a 5 day (Sun - Thurs)? I thought I needed a ticket for Sun even though we wouldn't be able to do anything until the late afternoon, and we're leaving Friday morning. What do you guys suggest?

Re: ABC\'s of Itinerary Building!

Hi kmggraham and welcome to our boards!

You don't need at ticket to get into Downtown Disney (DTD), admission is free. If you want to attend the clubs on Pleasure Island in the evening you'll require a ticket, but I'm assuming that with a 2/3 year old you probably aren't planning on that. Strolling through Pleasure Island is free. The DTD fireworks are at midnight I believe.

Downtown Disney has plenty of things to do. Lots of shopping, plenty of dining choices. A movie theatre. Check out Ghiradelli's chocolate shop. They give free samples on the one side of the store and you can get yummy chocolate treats on the other side. If you have other questions about planning your trip, check out The Walt Disney World Resort part of these boards: WDW Resorts Forums They're packed full of info and if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask and somebody will probably know the answer! Enjoy your planning!

I'm curious on what exactly you set up this "budget." Is is like a savings plan that everybody pays into and then gets all that back before the trip so its seems like "free Money" ? I have a family member that cannot save on her own, but could benefit from something like this. Obviously, you work with someone trustworthy, do you have the bookwork to show?

I think that the person you are asking this question to hasn't been on the boards for nearly 5 years.

Perhaps you could check out the budgeting forum The Office: Budgeting and Reward Programs - PassPorter Community - Message Boards and Forums to ask a question about tips for group budgets.
