Forums Closed
|
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I haven't had the pleasure of feasting my eyes on the boys at Alfredo's, but one summer I had quite a good time with the Belini Boy out front. Love the updates, Jen. May just have to head back to Italy over the next couple of days! Can't wait to read more!

Re: 2 Dental Diva’s and family go to WDW
Friday November 11th, Magic Kingdom
Last nights sleep was better than the night before but I still woke up a lot. Pam is such a light sleeper and I was afraid that Jameson (who was sleeping in her room) would wake her up, so I kept waking up at every little sound I heard ready to go running to get Jameson.
All the late nights out pretty much left us wiped so we skipped breakfast at the Crystal Palace. I was bummed but we would having breakfast tomorrow with Donald in AK! Jim went down to quick food area near the Pepper Market with our mugs and bought back some pastries. Pam must drink her Carnation Instant Breakfast every morning with exactly half of a pop-tart (barf), so Jim bought her 2 milks for 4 bucks! Later(2nd to last day) on we found that in the store the half gallon milk there was so much cheaper then buying the small milk everyday
We took our time getting ready and was at the bus stop by 8:30. The weather was beautiful and not a cloud in the sky. What better way to start a Friday than going to MK on sunny day! I wish every Friday could be that way.
At the bus drop off/pick up we noticed that CS was the first one you come to! Such a difference from Pop where you are practically in the Contemporary parking lot. FYI it is a ¼ mile walk from the gates to the Pop bus stop, I measured it last time. We made it just as everyone was being let in and went all the way over to the left where nobody was. I love it when people are like sheep and just follow the pack
Jameson was excited to be back at the MK. He remembered it from February and watching the MK DVD at home. Siobhan was happy to be back at her favorite park for the first time in 2 years! We had our picture taken by the photographers and when we got home I ordered this picture.
First things first was getting a fast pass for Splash and then head over to BTM. Pam was going to sit out on Splash and was taking Jameson on the Tree House. Jim, Siobhan and I left them there and walked over to Splash only to find it would be a 15 min wait well inside our 20 minute waiting rule. Jim however thought it looked longer than that and bailed out on us. He should have stuck it out with us because it was only a 5 minute wait. Siobhan and I had the 3rd row with the first 2 rows holding first timers. We were going to do the dumb pose again but because they were newbies I didn’t want to screw up their picture in case the bought it so we didn‘t do it. I was determined to hold both arms in the air as we went down the big drop this time and with Siobhan’s help I only got one up. I swear I had both up
We were supposed to meet Pam and the boys by BTM and they were no where to be found. I had given Pam my phone earlier because she was having problems with hers and Jim always has his so why do I need mine? Well I sure could have used it because we waited over 30 minutes for them! I even went to a pay phone to call Jim and wasted 2 bucks to leave a message on his voicemail. Finally after what seemed like forever they came sauntering over to us. Jim had told Pam the line was HUGE so they went on Jungle Cruise, Flying Carpets and drove the little boats around besides going all around the tree house!!
I showed Jameson what BTM looked like and he said “NO Way” so Pam, Siobhan and I went on. I kept telling Jameson that there are no dark parts it’s all outside totally forgetting about the very beginning when it’s so loud and pitch black Whoops!
Believe it or not I have never been over to Tom Sawyer’s Island and I thought Jameson would enjoy it. One choked filled carbon monoxide boat ride later we were there. Eeeeh not too much there. We all loved the barrel bridge but other than that it’s pretty boring and spent a total of 10 minutes there.
Next up was a trip around the race track for the boys while the girls did Space Mountain. We got fast passes for later on and was able to walk on. At that point we were hungry for lunch and backtracked to Columbia Harbor House. Siobhan, Jameson and I went upstairs to secure a table on the bridge. 4 of us had the chicken strips while Jimbob had the combo basket. I had a perfect view of the closed for refurbishment sign for HM and was amazed at how many people were surprised that it was closed. They had every sign for HM covered, ropes and chains blocking the entrance and exit AND 3 cast members stationed there. Every few minutes a new group of people would walk up to the chain look at it and the CM’s would have to explain that it was closed. OMG people read the dang sign
After lunch we split up and would meet each other again when our fast passed were up at SM. Jim, Jameson and I headed over to Toon Town. Jameson loves meeting the characters and wanted to see them all! We toured Mickey’s house and meet Mickey again! I was happily surprised that there was no line to meet Mickey! I have never seen that before. But that wasn’t the case to see Donald, Goofy and Minnie. That was a 30-40 minute wait but Jameson was very good about waiting.
Once we got our autographs and pictures we walked over to Goofy’s Barnstormer and Jameson didn’t want to go on that either. Where did this kid come from! I didn’t push him and was patient with him but I was getting frustrated on the inside because he wouldn’t listen to me about the rides! Maybe that was a good thing as I obliviously don’t remember that there are dark parts in all the rides As I completely forgot that we go thru 3 dark parts on TTA! I managed to calm Jameson down by bringing his flashlight out and his doggy Speckle. He was nervous but didn’t scream and cry.
Jim had by toying with the idea of going back to the hotel with Jameson all day but in the end he stuck it out with us. We meet up with the girls and rode SM. That done we headed back to the hotel for a swim.
Coming Up: Adults night out!

Ok, I was there that afternoon - you were probably referring this this dumb-dumb Ahahahahaha - but see, I wasn't THAT STUPID! LOL I drove up my little scooter and asked "Do you think it may open EARLIER than planned". I mean it, I asked every single time we went to MK - where that one chick that was standing there KNEW me when I'd drive up and she'd say "Nope, we haven't heard anything yet" before I'd ASK.
