As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Tea, Mouse and House - THREAD 5, UPDATED 1/31!
Monday 5 December – part one: what’s happened to Melissa and Andy?
Our original plans:
7.40 Breakfast @ ‘Ohanas with Melissa (mestitch) and her DH Andy
Spend the day at Animal Kingdom
3.45 Catch the Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade
5.30 Dinner @ Boma
Mickey and Stitch woke us up way too early this morning, about 6.00, but there was a good reason for the early wake up call. We were due at ‘Ohanas at 8.00 for breakfast with Melissa (mestitch) and Andy and that mischevious little blue alien.
We got ready and headed out, picking up the car from valet parking and I couldn’t resist getting some photos of our beautiful car. I loved our Chevrolet Impala and I just wish that they were available over here, as that’s the sort of car I’d love to own.
We were at the Polynesian by about 7.45 and I love the privileges that you get from having the Disney Dining Experience card. We were able to valet park for free, which is a great bonus. We did notice though that the staff there are nowhere near as friendly as they are at the Beach Club – or maybe it was something to do that we weren’t paying.
We headed up to ‘Ohanas, getting a few photos on the way.
This is a classic photo of Mark acting stupid!
We waited for Melissa and Andy to show and when it got to 7.55, I knew that something had to be wrong, as Melissa had said she wanted to be here early to get her photo taken before we went in. Time ticked by and I just hoped that they weren’t marooned somewhere waiting for Disney transportation. Just before 8.10, they appeared and Melissa’s face said it all. She was furious. They had sat on the monorail for about 10 minutes. Still, they had made it and our first stop after we’d checked in was to get our group photo taken. We didn’t bother purchasing the one that Disney took of us, as the one taken with our camera was great:
We had about a five minute wait before we were taken through. The Cast Member immediately noticed Melissa’s pin that said “congratulations” and asked if it was a special occasion. Melissa explained about their anniversary and I told the Cast Member that we had just celebrated our wedding anniversary as well and Mark had turned 40 earlier this year. With that, we were all given leis, which I later found out meant that those wearing them were celebrating a special day. Fortunately it didn’t mean that we had to take part in the parade around the restaurant, although that though did worry me when they announced the parade and explained what the leis meant.
We had a great window seat with lots of room, as it was set for six people. The other two places were removed and we could sit where we liked and we immediately took photos of each other.
Our server quickly brought out the bread, but what’s this? Where’s the pineapple bread? It turns out that there was only one piece of it in the basket. That was it. I asked for more, as I wanted a piece to myself and both Melissa and Andy wanted some as well. The last time we had eaten here this was my favourite part of the meal. No problem, another four pieces of pineapple bread soon appeared and when we couldn’t eat it all, I cheekily asked if I could have a bag to take away the last piece and was provided with a plastic box.
”Where’s the rest of the pineapple bread?”
The last time we ate here, the meal hadn’t been that great – except for the pineapple bread – so I didn’t have great expectations for today. I couldn’t have been more wrong though. The last time, me being a vegetarian seemed to be a real problem, but no worries today. I was told that they would specially prepare something for me and in the meantime, they brought out the eggs, Mickey waffles and potatoes, as mine would be a little longer.
When my platter arrived, I felt like a queen. It contained more potatoes, waffles and also a mixture of tofu and vegetables like peppers in soy sauce. It was very unusual, but very good and I ate as much as I possibly could. I even got Mark to try it, as I thought it was that good.
Next: Andy – what are you doing to Mickey?!

Great update Cheryl! We always get an Impala when we go to Disney, mainly for the trunk space And I didn't know you got to valet park for free with DDE? I guess I should have read the details on that thing
Breakfast is looking good And you're all having a great time!

We loved Ohana's breakfast! I wish I could post video - you should have seen Ryan trying to get to Stitch (the real one, not DH!)! Sounds like you guys had a wonderful time. That platter looks yummy and I don't even like tofu!

Fabulous photo of the four you! I'm curious. Both you and Melissa have mentioned in your TR about a "congratulations" pin that Melissa was wearing. I don't see a pin. What am I missing?

Re: Tea, Mouse and House - THREAD 5, UPDATED 1/31!
I love your report, Cheryl! I don't eat much meat (only locally raised, hormone free, yadda yadda ) so I really like reading your food notes! Did you request the vegetarian meal when you made the ADR, or did you just let your server know that morning? We ate at Kona in 2001 and it was great, but last year was only so-so - perhaps we should try a new place, same resort!
