New PassPorter E-Book: Disney 500 -- Fast Tips for Walt Disney World Trips - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

New PassPorter E-Book: Disney 500 -- Fast Tips for Walt Disney World Trips
We're pleased to announce our very first e-book: "PassPorter's Disney 500: Fast Tips for Walt Disney World Trips"
This e-book is made possible by the many tip submissions by our community over the years! So we're putting all proceeds of this e-book right back into the community for future upgrades, enhancements, and cool tools!
E-Book Description:
Are you looking for tips to save money and time while still having a MAGICAL vacation at Walt Disney World? Wouldn't it be nice to get these tips without having to wade through lots of web sites, message boards, and guidebooks? You're in luck! This low-cost e-book is packed with over 500 REAL tips from fellow vacationers -- each tip has been hand-picked, sorted, categorized, and edited by Jennifer Marx, the bestselling author of over 25 books, including the popular "PassPorter Walt Disney World 2006" guidebook.
What is an e-book? It is an Adobe Acrobat file which you can open and view on your computer using Adobe Reader, a free program most everyone already has. You can search and print the file to suit your own needs.
The tips in "PassPorter's Disney 500" e-book are all authored by the true Disney experts: fellow vacationers who've been to Walt Disney World many times. Readers submitted these tips (and many more!) to us over the course of six years. We've chosen the best tips that are essential to a great Disney vacation. And you can rest assured that every tip is up-to-date, accurate, and policy-abiding thanks to the extensive editing by a trusted Disney author.
Tips are organized by chapter -- planning, traveling, lodging, touring, dining, and making magic -- and grouped by category, providing a well-rounded collection of tips that will suit most vacationers. Even if you only use or two tips, you'll be ahead of the game!
"PassPorter's Disney 500" E-Book Tells You How To...
* Send personal letters from Disney characters to your kids

Important Note: This e-book is NOT a general travel guide that covers all the ins and outs of planning a Disney vacation. Instead, this e-book focuses on the top tips and fun stuff. If you want a general travel guide, try PassPorter Walt Disney World 2006.
"PassPorter's Disney 500" is a whopping 113 pages, packed with 501 tips and 30 original color photos. Color-coded icons indicate which tips are time-savers, money-savers, magic-makers, and/or kid-friendly. And unlike most e-books, this file is fully-formatted just like a regular print book... it will even fit into a Deluxe PassPorter Binder, if you have one.
Re: New PassPorter E-Book: Disney 500 -- Fast Tips for Walt Disney World Trips
Awesome!! That's all I can say! One of my favorite parts of the Passporters are all the tips....so this was alot of fun all presented in a very attractive and easy to read format! Good job!! (read all of already and will definitely be using some of the tips for our next trip)
Re: New PassPorter E-Book: Disney 500 -- Fast Tips for Walt Disney World Trips
Hey Jennifer --
Thought you should know -- the link in your post where it says "view sample pages, etc." doesn't work, because the period you put at the end of the sentence gets puts into the address, and the actual address doesn't have the period. I had to copy it, delete the period and then hit enter for it to work.
Thought you'd want to know....
Can't wait to see you and Dave this week and FINALLY meet young Mr. Alexander. (Last time I saw you guys in Dec. 2000 Alexander hadn't made his grand entrance yet!)
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
It looks so great! Just wondering, if we print it out will we have to cut the inidividual pages to read it properly? Is the pdf "changeable" like can we type in personalized notes? I am also heading to a local bookstore today hoping to get one of the Passporters for WDW! hope you have it here in our part of the world!!!

Printing is easy -- I cannot think of any instance when you'd need to cut the pages to read a printed version properly. You only need to cut the pages when you want to fit it inside a PassPorter.
First just want to say that your site is AWESOME and can't wait to get my Passporter deluxe in the mail.
now i want to supplement my passporter and start using the worksheets to plan, and filling in the Pins to COllect section, arrival times etc so it is all ready to slot nicely into the passporter when it comes.
What package is best to purchase for this?
Am interested in the "sidekick" (is this the non-editable one?) and the "Free e-Book" (is this also editable?) which comes with the membership to the passporters club. Is there also a way to join the club without auto-renewal after our trip is over?
Also, is it worth getting the Disney 500? (we are not so interested in whether to use sunscreen ets, but more interested in which rides we should be going for for our 3y.o, best restaurasnts to dine in, etc). Also love the intereactive things like "Pin COllecting" sheet, "Autographs" sheet etc.
Thanks again for doing these books so all of us can have as much fun planning as the vacation itself!!
The Sidekick e-book is editable -- it's a collection of worksheets, journals, and so on. The Free-Book is not editable -- it's information and thus there's no need for it to be editable. Also, to clarify, the Free-Book does not come with membership to the Club -- they are separate. But the Club is $4.95/month (the same as the price of one e-book) and it includes all our e-books -- perhaps that's what you meant.
If you want to join the Club but want it to cancel when your trip is over, my suggestion is to cancel your subscription in the two weeks before your trip begins. Your access to the Club will remain until the month is up, and you won't have to worry about remembering to cancel it upon your return. You can use the PassPorter calendar system to set a reminder for a specific date, too. Every Club subscriber also receives an automatic e-mail 2-3 days before a subscription renews, as a reminder.
SO does that mean if I join the club (at the cost of one e-book) i get all the ebooks for that price of just one ebook, plus added benefits for forum usage etc etc?
Does the sidekick e-book also come with the CLub memebership then?
