Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Undiscovered Future World Tour & EvEMH

Hello all,
I am trying to figure out when to book the Undiscovered Future World Tour in Epcot. It seems (so far at least) that the EMH schedules are following the same pattern every month. The reason that I bring this up is because the tour only runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and I am trying to avoid the morning EMH (a must) and line up with the evening EMH (if possible).
I would like all of this, and still be able to take advantage of the evening EMH at another park on another day. Some of you may be scratching your head, wondering what an early morning tour has to do with evening EMH. Well, an added perk to the tour (in the past) has been a VIP pass to Illuminations that night. Adding to this dilemma is the fact that I am trying to plan a Fantasmic dinner package as well.
So... to sum this all up, does anybody have a guesstimate on whether the powers-that-be will keep the schedule the same. Complicating the fact is that in October, when we are going (oh yeah, you might have needed that info 10/20-10/27) there will be MNSSHP going on during this time at MK, which we are not taking advantage of this time.
So, after all of this, any help is greatly appreciated, esp. after reading through all of this and figuring out what I was asking.
Thank you!
Maggie

I've been looking into the EMH days and stressing about the changing schedules for the last few months. Now that it's time to make PS's I had to just stick to a plan and hope it stays the same for July. Lately the EMH schedule has been following a pattern and remainded pretty much the same from week to week. You still have a lot of time before you need to book the tour, though, so I would continue to watch for a pattern and then just make a decision.

I can't help you with the time thing but I can tell you that the tours for October are filling up quick. Two weeks ago I booked our Segways Tours and the Divequest Tour for my husband and there were already people signed up for those. You might want to just go ahead and book now and then if you have to change it later and there's availability then you can do that. At least then you are guaranteed to be going on the tour.

Re: Undiscovered Future World Tour & EvEMH

You may not have as much trouble booking the Undiscovered Future World tour at a later date than you would some of the other WDW tours, as it's not a very popular one. We took this tour in Dec/03 and I could understand why it doesn't book up all that quickly. This is the only WDW tour I've taken to date that I didn't like at all - I thought it was a total waste of time and money. However, Disney was really fair about it and gave us a full refund when I complained about the poor quality of the tour.

Joy,
What didn't you like about it? I have never been on another tour, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Thanks,
Maggie

Re: Undiscovered Future World Tour & EvEMH

I've taken a lot of WDW behind the scenes tours and loved all of them with the sole exception of this tour. The main thing I didn't like about this tour is that there was very little behind the scenes moments. Most of it consisted of the tour guide leading us all over Future World and spouting a bunch of facts and figures. It felt more like listening to someone reading a guide book than actually taking a behind the scenes tour. We didn't even ride so much as one attraction. Disney refunded us our money for this tour since we were so dissatisfied with it but that didn't help the fact that we wasted the better part of an entire day taking this tour. Compare this with my experiences taking tours like the Backstage Safari at AK where I enjoyed each and every second of it. And we got to do such cool stuff on that one like petting a white rhino and getting up close and personal with a giraffe - things that I would never have had the opportunity to experience without the tour. I'm afraid the same thing definitely cannot be said about the Undiscovered Future World tour. There was nothing about this tour that we couldn't have experienced all on our own. There is the VIP viewing area for IllumiNations but there's a public viewing area right beside it which is just as good. We took this tour in Dec/03 and perhaps they've improved the tour since then but if not, I would hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Joy,
Thanks for your input. I was also pondering the AK backstage tour, because the animal interaction sounds really interesting. I love riding the train and seeing the buildings that house the animals.
Thanks again,
Maggie

Re: Undiscovered Future World Tour & EvEMH

Maggie, since you're an animal lover, I truly think you can't go wrong with the Backstage Safari tour at AK. You'll get to walk through some of the animal barns, go into the kitchen where they prepare all the food for the animals each day, go into the veterinary areas to watch whatever procedures they're doing at that time and even go on a very different version of Kilimanjaro Safaris where they turn off the usual spiel and your tour guide explains how they achieve a lot of the environments. Plus they slow right down and even stop at times so you can get some fabulous photos when any animal happens to be posing prettily. This is my favorite of all the tours I've taken at WDW.
