As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

When I was in elementary school, there was a girl on the bus that picked on me a lot and tried to fight me. One day she and the entire bus load of kids followed me home trying to pick a fight with me. My mom was so steamed that she called the principal. He ended up following the bus and watching the next day, and ended up calling my mom to appologise to her since he thought she was a real flake. The girl was called in to the principal's office with her mom and told in no uncertain terms that she was never to do anything like that EVER again. I didn't have much trouble from then on.

I knocked out a boy's 2 front teeth in 1st grade for trying to kiss me, then I got in a fight with a bunch of girls in the bathroom in Jr High b/c they were always calling me "Heidi" and "Nazi" (I was a *US* Army brat!) and teasing me b/c I'd lived in Germany. One day, they jumped me and tried to cut off my hair (very long) with a knife, so I just got really peeved off and let the ringleader have it. She got suspended from school.  |

I've only been in one real fight, and that was with my cousin when I was younger. She had me in a headlock with her nails drawing blood from my neck until my brother came out and decked her... I realized then that I better learn how to run really fast, because I definitly am not a fighter...

One time I hit a boy on the bus (middle school). He called me a bad name when I asked him to move over. I slapped him in the face. Turns out, he was my Dad's boss's son. That didn't go over well when Dad's boss called my Dad about the "fight." I had to go over to this kid's house and apologize. Then I told his Dad what he called me, and the kid got grounded. Too fun.

I smacked my sister in the face in McDonalds one time, fighting over ice cream . . .
When I was 9, a girl at school picked on me constantly. We were playing tether ball one day at recess and she was still in by the time it came my turn . . . she was taller than me so she won and I called her a b----. Well, that must have ticked her off, because she took the ball down off of the rope and ran at me with it, hitting me right in the face (imagine glasses smashed into your face . . . it hurt!) So, what did I do? I kicked her someplace where, if she were a boy, it might have actually hurt!!! Then I got up and ran . . . from that point on, I always "let" people torture me for fear I would get wallopped. (I spent a lot of time hanging out IN lockers!)

Many times....in the ring. I took Tae Kwon Do for three years and my teacher always taught us it was better to walk or run away from a fight unless your life was in jeapordy and you had no choice but to fight.
Before that I was only in one fight as a kid. We went to Hawaii when I was about 12. There was a little Hawaiian girl who did not like me running around in a grass skirt doing the hula. She jumped me and we did the hair pulling/scratching/kicking thing. Think Lilo and Myrle Evans.  |

Yup! I have 2 older sisters!! My middle sister and I got into it alot years ago. she fights like a girl--with her nails, I used my fists! Funny, she's always been the sister I've been closer to!!
I've never gotten into a fist fight with a guy friend. but i do remember one time in 3rd grade when I walked up to a guy friend who was being a real jerk that day. He was hiding his eyes on the brick wall and I came up behind him and kicked him in the you know what with my hiking boots!!!  Whenever we see each other now, he looks to see if I'm wearing boots!!

No, there've been a couple times where I wanted to deck someone, but I could never bring myself to actually do it. Growing up I was the third in a class of three girls and the other 2 were best friends and excluded me, except when they were fighting w/ each other, THEN the witchier of the two would invite me over to her house, be MY best friend, etc (and I was so desperate for friendship I ate it up). until they made up, then I was dropped like a hot potato. Once I caught on to the pattern, I stopped going over to her house, but she was SO mean to me, calling me names and stuff, that I had visions of inviting her over to MY house and then beating the stuffing out of her! I'm all talk!
In high school, there was a boy who had his locker next to mine and every day after classes ended for the day, would purposely block me from getting into my locker; making me have to run for the bus. One day, I'd had enough and we got into a shoving match, and that was one of the only times I've ever used "a certain word" and meant it! A teacher stood right across the hall and "never saw anything", so I went to the principal the next day and suddenly Mr. Jerk's locker was moved!
