Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

A medication question. - Been to the Docs

I hope someone might be able to give me some advice. On Monday I went for an appointment at the hospital and the doctor changed my medication from Fluoxetine to Lofepramine, I wonder if anyone on here has taken Lofepramine. About two hours after I took my first tablet I felt very spaced out and went to bed, I lay there for hours with my eyes wide open. DBF Allan came upstairs and saw my lying there and said my eyes were huge. My arms and legs feel very heavy and it is an effort to do anything. I got up this morning and lay on the sofa for about two hours and then went up to bed where I slept for about another three hours. I haven't got any energy at all and have no appetite whatsoever, all I have had all day is a glass of water and it is now 4pm. Also my heart feels like it is beating a lot faster than usual and I'm shaking but I don't know if that is because I haven't eaten.

Do you think I should take my tablet tonight? It says on the instructions that the medication could take up to two weeks to work properly. I don't really want to go to the Dr straight away as I have been there so much lately all the receptionists know me by name .

Sorry I'm whittering on, I feel a bit weird.

Karen

Re: A medication question.

Could you call and speak to your Dr's nurse or a pharmacist? I have never taken that specific medication, but that reaction does not sound normal. I would call the pharmacist and just ask if the side effects you are experiencing are normal for the first few weeks or if you should go back to your doctor. I'm sure the pharmacist is use to strange questions...I know I call our local pharmacist all the time if I have the slightest reaction to a medication. I definitely wouldn't tough it out without knowing though.

Re: A medication question.

Sorry to hear this new med is causing some problems. I agree with Val, call the doc or nurse to ask them about your problems with it. They should be able to give you some more info, hopefully. Keep us posted!

Re: A medication question.

Karen,
I agree with the others, I'd call your doctor & ask. If you really don't want to why don't you phone NHS direct & ask someone there?
Hope you feel better soon,
Lisa.

Re: A medication question.

Yikes. No matter how many times I've been to the doctor, I would definitely be calling in if I had symptoms like that! Please get some advice/answers ASAP, Karen. Some people react badly to certain drugs. They can tell you if your reaction is abnormal and prescribe another drug, if need be

Karen, I was about to suggest that too - NHS Direct were great when I called them about my ankle and gave me some really good advice and it was them that my dad called when he didn't feel too good and they got an ambulance out to him immediately when he described his symptoms to them, as they suspected diabetes straightaway. Neither of us can praise them enough. Give them a try is my advice. Take care and I hope you're feeling better soon.

Re: A medication question. - Update

Thanks for the advice, I rang my Mum and she rang the pharmacist for me. He said I might feel like that for a couple of days but if it lasts much longer than that to go and see my GP.

Thanks everyone .

Hang in there Karen! You know your body best, and if you continue to be uncomfortable with the medication let your Dr know. I've never been on that particular med, but I had a similar reaction to another med and had to discontinue it. Here's some pixie dust for you!!

Re: A medication question. - Been to the Docs

I have been to the Doctors this morning and feel a bit better. She told me that I needed to be on the medication for at least two weeks for it to show any real improvement and advised me to call my consultant at the hospital.

I have just spoken to the consultant and feel so much better, he said my tablet often do cause increased heart rate and I may feel worse before I feel better and after two weeks I am to double the dose. He said that he will send out a letter today with a new appointment so I can go and see him sooner. He said usually with my tablets people suffer weight gain and not weight loss, so I am very happy that I am losing weight rather than gaining .

DBF Allan has also spoken to my manager at work and she has told him that my job is safe and I am not to worry about it whatsoever and I should just concentrate on getting better so that has taken a weight off of my mind too.

All we have to worry about now is money as I'm not working at the moment, I can always find something to worry about!!! Ebay here I come!

Thanks so much for your kind comments everyone, it makes me feel so much better. You are such good friends.

.
