Forums Closed
|
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................
I really am!!! This was the scene in my house this morning:
Mike got up at 6AM and started blasting his stereo!! Chris, who is presently suspended from school (long story), got up and wanted to know why he couldn't go to Katie's field hockey game today! Duh!! HELLO?????????? You aren't even allowed on school grounds!! Then Katie declared that she had to get dressed up today for some kind of assembly. This would've been fine, but my daughter owns two dresses: one that she wore to the freshman dance, which is much too dressy for school and one that is a gown that she bought for the cruise!! AY CARRRUMBA!!!!!!!!!! So! She proceeds to tear through my clothes, throwing them everywhere, saying she doesn't have anything to wear!!! She finally picks a skirt out and then can't find a shirt she likes to go with it!! In the meantime, they only have about ten minutes left to get to school and my husband is outside beeping the horn like crazy!! You guys should all be very happy that you don't live anywhere around me! I am now waiting for the "For Sale" signs to go up on my street! I really just want to today!
So, how is your morning????

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................
Gosh Tara, I thought it was only me today! I'm having a horrible morning as well!
I've got a terrible cold (of course, I've got to be on a plane in a few days for over 8 hours, so a cold is just going to make that really fun ). I was checking email this morning, and then did a virus update. Well it was taking forever, and wouldn't shut down. I thought it had, brought Colin downstairs to get ready, and then head back up to get Alexa about 15 minutes later. It's still on, so finally I just throw the switch
Get Alexa downstairs, and both kids aren't in any mood to get ready. I didn't make any of their lunch stuff last night because I was tired and feeling crappy, so I'm running around doing that. Get them dressed, pack the lunches, and off we go. Then can't find my shoes (or Colin's coat). Get them into the car, go back to find my shoes, still can't find them so I'm resolved to wear my sandals in the garage, go back outside and there are my shoes next to my sandals
Back out of the garage, and left the light on, have to go back in and shut it off (wouldn't have mattered, you'll see why)! Get to school, take them out of their seats, and Alexa's bag is missing. Guess what I left at home So take them into daycare, and Alexa's toast sticks have come out of the bag and are all over the bottom of the backpack and on the paper telling school they'll be out next week because the in-laws are coming while I'm away! Ok, get them settled, now have to head home again to get her backpack, and finally drop that off to school and end up at work 40 minute late!
Ugh!! The only good thing was I heard a funny bit that the DJ was doing on the way back to school, and I was crying I was laughing so hard
Hopefully it can only go up from here!
Sending you tons of pixie Tara Sounds like you've got your hands full there too!

Wow Tara - and I thought I was having a bad day! Stay calm - take some deep breaths and relax with a nice cup of tea... you did say you still had some left, didn't you?

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................
Oh Geez Tara.....and Marnie, I feel so guilty. I get up every morning to a nice quiet house. DH is already at work, and DS(21) is either at work or still in bed cause he has classes later in the afternoon instead. I haven't had to get up and go to work in over a year. I really enjoy my mornings, it's my favorite time of the day. Although I do have a stuffy nose.
I hope the rest of your day goes much better!!!

Wow! That was a hectic morning! I managed to sleep late so I decided I'm just not going to bother going to school. Ahh..the joys of being a college student.

I'm sorry, Tara, but that running away smilie distracted me while I was reading your post. That is the funniest smilie around!
Anyway, sounds like a chaotic morning. I'll relish having a 8 and 5 year old for a while!

Re: I\'m teetering on the edge here you guys................
Yikes! You win. But I have a morning story too.
We get to school this morning and DD doesn't have any shoes! She thought she's left a pair of clogs in the car, but didn't bother looking to make sure before we left the house (I know, I should have looked too). So, I dropped her at the before school program and then had to turn around and drive 20 minute back home for shoes and then 20 minutes back to school so she wouldn't be in sock feet all day! Then I had to do the 25 minute drive back the other direction again to my office. Needless to say, I was quite late today!
